I’m reporting a serious safety issue with this Infiniti. Tonight while driving the engine just shut off. We fortunately were not in an accident, but easily could have been. What terrifies me is that this happened twice a few years ago. It was still under warranty so Infiniti inspected it and replaced the entire transmission. The warranty is expired, but this huge safety issue is still happening!

The failure pattern owners describe
Buyer takeaway: The 2015 QX60 shows multiple reports of engine misfiring, stalling, and loss of power across various mileage ranges, with owners alleging known defects in valve systems and cooling fans that Infiniti has not recalled. Serious safety concerns exist around unexpected engine shutdown while driving, combined with warranty coverage that expires at 5 years, leaving owners responsible for expensive repairs shortly after purchase.
Owners report eight distinct engine failure patterns on 2015 QX60s. Coolant intrusion into cylinders appears in at least one complaint at 77,000 miles, with a dealership quoting $25,600+ for engine replacement. Valve system issues causing low-speed acceleration stuttering show up as a known defect in 2013–2015 models (2014 manufacture date), with dealerships refusing warranty coverage and demanding full valve system replacement at owner expense.
Stalling and loss of power occur sporadically—at 20, 30, 40, and 60 mph—with no warning lights and repair shops unable to reproduce or diagnose failures. One owner reports the engine shut off completely while driving, creating imminent accident risk; Infiniti replaced the transmission under warranty for similar failures years earlier, but declined assistance after warranty expired.
Cooling fan malfunction appears at 39,000 miles and is described as a known defect; replacement costs $1,200. Rough idle with loud sputtering is reported at idle with no check engine light. Most failures occur early in ownership (30,000–77,000 miles) despite no prior warning signs. Dealerships consistently fail to locate diagnostic codes or reproduce failures, leaving owners without recourse.
