2015 Kia Sportage owner complaints

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 Kia sportage. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic because he suspected an issue with the serpentine belt. The independent mechanic test drove the vehicle and the engine seized. The contact took the vehicle to westgate Kia (10956 star rd, wake forest, nc 27587, (919) 263-3061) where an unknown recall was discovered. The engine was replaced per the recall and the contact was provided a loaner vehicle. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred with the vehicle not starting. The dealer came to the contact's residence and diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. The failure recurred, but the dealer refused to pay to tow the vehicle back to their facility. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 18,400. *js

Engine locked up. If it were not for my brother in law being a mechanic and alerted me to Kia engine settlement lawsuit I would not have known the KSDS update was ever even a thing. I never received notification for this. Why not? I am out 1000s of $ on a vehicle I have bought that is useless now. KIA is blaming me when I never even knew anything about this. Please I would like to know why I was never informed and it doesn’t even show up when I search my vin either?

2015 Kia sportage. Consumer writes in regard to engine failure. The consumer stated the motor locked up eventhough maintenance was performed on the vehicle.

In 2022 , Kia notified me of a recall that caused engine failure if my vehicle. I was instructed to comes in and receive vehicle updates to the engine to fix the issue. In May 2022, went to have the engine recall worked on and was advised the updates were successful. In August 2022 my engine blew out/ cut off in the middle of the highway causing safety issue for me and my daughter. I was successful with rearing the car to safety. I immediately had a mechanic to assess and was advised of engine failure which prompted me to turn to Kia. Kia has had my car in possession over 3 months, asked for numerous documents and has failed to provide any resolution for this horrible safety issue. I would like this to investigated your the highest degree because this is how peoples lives are put in danger

On 10/9/2020 driving south on pa. Turnpike ne extension when engine stated knocking and losing power. Pulled over on the shoulder of the road and tried to restart it but it would not turn over. Contacted roadside assistance and had it towed to the nearest service station. They could not look at it until the next day as they were very busy. When they did look at it they said the engine needed to be replaced as something went wrong internally with the engine. They said they could get it to start but that it shouldn't be driven as the knocking on the engine was getting extremely loud when you try to accelerate. The car was then towed to another service station closer to home. It sat there for a week before they could look at it. They reached the same conclusion after replacing the engine air

I was driving along the interstate at a high speed when all of a sudden I heard this terrifying sound like glass breaking and then my sunroof violently exploded with the glass hitting the drivers behind me. The sound itself was extremely startling and I am very lucky to have not caused an accident because of it. I am thankful that my sunroof shade was closed during this incident so I wasn't injured. There were no cracks in my sunroof and I did not hear anything hit it, like a rock or some other hard object prior to it exploding. I have researched and it looks like this is a known issue with Kia sportages years 2011-2015 and it doesn't seem like anything has been done to resolve the issue. My insurance is going to cover the replacement, but I wanted to report this incident to help save some

While driving approximately 10 miles per hour while approaching train tracks the vehicle shut off the entire instrument panel lights came on when I tried to accelerate it wouldn't do so. I had just enough momemtium to get me over the tracks. I pulled onside the shoulder shut the car off completely. When I tried to cut on car again it shut immediately off. I sat there 10-15 mins and it cut back on. When I started driving it again it cut off again after 5 mins. This went on for almost and hour for me to get home which was only 1/4 mile away. Now when I try to cut it on it shutters and cuts off. The engine shakes uncontrollably. All of this happened on a main street.

I have reported this to Kia on the dealership level twice and their corporate offices once. I have gas that bubbles up and out of the gas tank. The first time it happened I had the car for about a week. It has been over a year and I still have the problem. It doesn't matter what time of the day, or season, or gas station I use. I have taken it to two dealers, both Kia. They have not fixed the problem and don't seem to think it is a safety issue. The most recent event was this past friday.

When the a/c unit is on there is a coolant smell inside of the cabin of the vehicle. I have brought it up to the dealer but they say it is normal. I was a service manager for years and it is not normal.

My car stalls. It stalls while idling, at a light or while driving on a highway at 65 MPH. Although the last is less common it has happened enough to be frightening. I purchased the car 3 years ago and it stalled upon leaving the dealership. It was in 3 time immediaately. Since then the Kia dealership in coral springs florida has told me they find nothing wrong. Sometimes is seems to backfire before stalling and others stall quietly. It is rare fir the car to get through bumper to bumper traffic without stalling. If I idle for five or six minutes it stalls. Going around clover leaves on highways it stall. It has stalled hundred of times.

Drove vehicle approx 10 minutes smelled a burning smell, thought it was the vehicle driving in next lane, about 5 minutes later while stopped at a red light light, I noticed the heavy smoke coming from engine, I exited vehicle and just 1-2 minutes engine was fully engulfed in flames.

My Kia sportage is having major electric issues with the USB device and radio also lights delay to come on when I turn off vehicle weird sound comes from what sounds like the dash area also when I take my key out of the ignition it still makes the dinging noise like the keys are in the ignition and the door is open and when I shut my hatch sometimes it causes my lights in the back to flash on definitely something wrong with the electrical system and I definitely don't feel safe with my vehicle like this I had did some research and there are other Kia models with electrical recalls for catching fire and other things I hipe Kia will do something to make my vehicle ok and make me feel safe while in it im have issues when parked and in motion

The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sportage. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS and traction control warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the ABS control module. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V051000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 80,000.

Car was in a collision with metal bridge barrier(standing solid object) head on, spun to hit both rear sides and spun some more and no air bags deployed. I hit my head on the driver side panel and resulted in a concussion. I was on the highway going about 65mph when I hit an ice block on the road, spun to the side and hit the metal barrie on the left side of the road head on and spun more to hit the back tire. Car is a total loss according to insurance.

I was traveling approx. 50 MPH and a woman pulled out in front of me and I (t boned ) her. My chest hit the steering wheel and then the air bag deployed immediately all functions stopped working.the car filled with white smoke from the air bag. My windows were up and I could not roll them down nor steer.I could not breath the car was rolling it stopped at approx. 50 ft.when I got out I was gasping I had a white substance all over me in my nose. I'm very concerned.

The late model Kia sportage's have terrible rear turn signals. They are a very skinny 1" x 6" long slit that is mounted into the lower bumper cover. When following one of these vehicles, especially in daylight, a drivers eye is not trained to be looking for a very small, skinny little turn signal that is not integrated into the brake lights or even near the brake lights of the vehicle. The turn signal is about 18"-24" lower than the brake lights. Recently when following one of these vehicles I nearly had a collision because I was looking at the brake lights and noticing the driver slowing but when they suddenly stopped for traffic to turn into their driveway, I was not prepared for this because I did not see a turn signal until I realized it was one of these vehicles and it was actuall

Hood latch seccondary safety latch did not catch hood and hood flew up causing inability to see and luckily only damage the car itself. This is a dangerous problem with Kia and should be investigated for the safety catch becoming corroded and sticky. Its design is defective and it should be recalled and reworked so that it can not become corroded and sieze preventing safe operation in the event the primary latch comes unclipped while driving down the road at speed if a person were to accidentally pull the hood release in motion or it it were so fail to hold adequately.

Driving on the highway at 65mph, engine light started blinking then stayed solid and my speed declined to 40mph and would not go higher. Had to stay in slow lane to get off and get back on to make it home. I was unsure as to what was happening.It was the weekend so had to wait until Monday until i could find out and the dealership told me it was the valve cover gasket (which is brand new). I was also told they couldnt do anything else for me i need a long block assembly.
