I am submitting this complaint regarding a sudden and unsafe CVT transmission failure on my Honda vehicle. While driving, the vehicle began shaking violently, lost the ability to accelerate, and multiple warning indicators illuminated, including the check engine light. The vehicle was unable to be driven safely and had to be towed. A diagnostic inspection performed by an authorized Honda dealership confirmed CVT failure consistent with Honda Service Bulletin #21-047, including the presence of transmission belt material in the fluid. This failure mode is documented by Honda as a known manufacturing defect that can cause loss of power and drivability. I contacted Honda Corporate Customer Relations and opened a case on 12/3. Despite multiple communications, Honda has denied goodwill or war

While driving the vehicle began to rev and acted as if it was no in gear, no power, it began to slow and when I stopped it would not change into any gear except park. The vehicle has 85,112 miles
I was leaving work and driving down a busy, high speed road when the car experienced a total transmission failure. There were no warning lights or change in performance prior to the incident. Car has been dealer maintained and up until that moment had performed well. Police had to stop traffic and assist me out of busy intersection.
I was driving my 2016 Honda hrv and started to lose power. Warning lights for brake system and engine, along with other lights came on. I was able to safely pull over. I was able to turn off and turn car on and warning lights on dashboard were still on, however I was not able to engage the car in either drive or reverse position. When tow truck driver arrived, he was able to engage car to drive. Honda dealership ran diagnostic test and speed sensor came out, but it was ruled out. Only thing wrong, was a loose battery cable on positive side. Car is running fine. However two weeks later, I am 150 miles from home and just got off freeway, when my car loses all power. I immediately had to pull over and luckily car behind me was able to stop in time and did not rear end me. There were no wa
Driving on interstate when vehicle suddenly downshifted resulting in lurch slowdown and high engine rpms. Pulled to median. Shift indicator light flashes, dash Brake System warning light flashes, Parking system warning lights, check engine light on. Attempted to drive to nearby dealer for troubleshooting. Vehicle drives when put into gear, but must paddle shift into higher gears. After couple seconds automatically downshifts again. Paddle shifting will shift into higher gear, but returns to lower gears automatically. Shop says transmission test shows P271E, 83-16 warning error so transmission must have failed.
Check engine light came on, gear selector light was flashing and all dash board lights came on at 150,189 miles. The dealer attempted to repair the transmission by replacing the valve body. The car was driven 29 miles before all dash warning lights came back on. Dealer said the only repair was to replace the entire transmission, which includes a new valve body. Dealer said the codes recommended the replacement. The transmission was replaced at 114,193 miles under a recall. The transmission failure was after the 150,000 warranty extension. Honda is replacing transmissions in the HRV with rebuilt transmissions that will fail again.

I was driving the car home from work and all of the warning lights on the dashboard came on- the check engine light, tire pressure light, traction control light, brake warning light, and the park emergency brake light. The "park" sign and p/r/d light lights were flashing. The car would not accelerate past 35 miles without it kicking back. I was terrified to drive the car on the interstate due to the acceleration kick back. I had to take a longer route home. I prayed the entire way. I keep up with my car maintenance with oil changes, etc. I even had the transmission fluid changed one year prior to this event. I had no prior issues, messages, symptoms, or other problems with this car prior to this event. It happened suddenly. I took the car to the dealership who initially told me th

On 12/28 9:00pm, was driving at 73mph on us 68 north bound in a cruise mode set at 73mph. Physical contact between driver and the vehicle control component was only steering wheel. While driving, RPM suddenly reved up to 5.5k and driver immediately shut down the cruise mode by pressing brake pedal. After the cruise mode being canceled, the engine reved up to 5.5k again. Driver pulled up on the side of the highway as soon as possible and identified all dashboard warning lights were on. The car was shutdown immediately by taking the key out. The car is towed to hugh white Honda dealership in columbus ohio.
Dashboard went blank and it was determined that the Gauge Control Unit malfunctioned. Brought it to Honda - the cost to repair was $2098.62. This should not happen to a 2016 HRV with only 24000 miles!
The screen that presents the odometer, temperature, and other travel metrics for the HR-V becomes scrambled and flashes in and out. This is a distraction while driving and appears to reflect a malfunctioning electrical issue. I am concerned that my vehicle may be a danger to drive and not properly record mileage and/or pass inspection. My understanding that this is a very common issue with HR-Vs but that Honda will not acknowledge or correct this issue.

The parking brake engages on and off when the car is turned off. There are 3 lights flashing -check engine light -the word “park” - the parking brake light I have had the code read and it says it is the evap canister purge valve which has already been replaced, the light went off temporarily and it’s back on again. The transmission is noisy when accelerating. The purge valve keeps going bad for no apparent reason and the parking brake randomly engaging and disengaging when the car is turned off leads me to believe there is an issue overall with the build of the car. I am worried the emergency brake will engage when driving.
Under slow speed about 10 MPH car was making a left turn in buffalo,ny in late november and slid on ice into a curb(passenger front wheel) and recovered. 3 weeks passed noticed that the ambient temperature in car was reading anywhere from 100 to -40 degrees and then the display would disappear. Also defroster was running intermittently. Took car in for service, they said that temperature sensor attached in the wheel area was damaged along with the wires being corroded that were attached to the sensor. Dealer stated that this could causes a variety of problems later like the defroster shutting down along with any kind of circulation. This could be dangerous in winter. Also, they noted that this would not be covered under warranty. So, mind you if you slid into to anything, this would ha
A year after buying my hr-v the odometer went out. Now, two years later the second odometer is doing the same thing.
Emergency Brake will not engage. Automatic emergency brake sensor needs replaced. Unable to set emergency brake.
Air conditioner, I have had my brand new 2016 Honda hr-v since february 2016, I used my ac for 2 seasons a total of 6 months and this summer it barely got cold, when I took it to the dealer they said it isn't under warranty anymore and it needs to be charged so when I got home I called american Honda they told me since it's not under warranty anymore that I would have to pay to have it charged. So I asked them what does it only last 6 months before it needs to be charged they told me they didn't have a time limit on how long it would stay charged. I have seen where many other people on line are having the same issues with this car.
