While driving the engine started to run rough and the vehicle started to decelerate. The check engine light and the traction control light came on. I let up on the gas pedal, the van continued to run rough. I made it home and the next day took the van to a mechanic, he told me that he observed oil fouling on the #3 spark plug, consistent with worn piston rings. The van is a 2016 Honda Odyssey with 91,000 miles.

Connecting rod failure. This could have been a serious issue as it happened on the highway. I was in the middle lane when it locked up. Luckily I was able to safely get to the shoulder. There was no warning before it happened. ( No engine light, no noises at all). This has been inspected by my local Honda dealer and confirmed.
I have had the same issue now twice with my vehicle. The first repair was done in 2020 and covered by Honda under warranty. They repaired Cylinder Block-Piston Rings misfiring. It was I believe about a $3,500 repair when covered under warranty. I now have the same thing happening again. I took it in to Honda for diagnostic test and and i have the need for immediate attention to repair-end of October, 2023. I also already had labor service April 11, 2023 and had a code PO303 cylinder#3 misfire, swapped plugs 3 & 5. Spark plugs causing issues. Again the beginning of October I had to take my vehicle in AGAIN for spark plugs and misfiring. Had the spark plugs changed twice this year. And already had a MAJOR repair for the piston rings on this same vehicle. This should not be happening AGAIN. W
The contact owns a 2016 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was later informed that the piston ring on cylinder #3 was defective. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle had been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.
My wife experienced a sudden loss of power and a very rough running engine at interstate speeds. The check engine light as well as the FSW lights indicated problems with the engine. We brought the vehicle into a Honda dealership for diagnosis. The technician observed an oil soaked spark plug in the #3 cylinder which caused the issue. There were no lights associated with the issue until the sudden loss of power. This dramatic loss of power put her at risk as she limped to a safe area. Honda not only recommends replacing the plug but also all the rings on the rear three cylinders to make the vehicle safe. This is the second time this same vehicle has experienced the same failure and it appears to be an issue with the VCM system on this model. First instance was around 60k and now at 1
The engine misfired which caused the vehicle to lose power in traffic endangering the people in my vehicle and in the other vehicles on the road around me. The check engine light began flashing and I had the vehicle towed to the dealership to be inspected. Upon inspection I was informed by the dealership that this was a known problem in Honda Odysseys and that the VCM system causes the piston rings to go bad prematurely which causes unburnt oil to foul the spark plug and cause the car to misfire and lose power. Apparently a class action lawsuit about this issue led to Honda extending the warranty and covering the repairs on Oddyseys made between 2005-2013, but the issue was never corrected and the 2016 model is not covered. The cost of the repair was $3830.

Takata recall my Honda odyssey is a 2016 model. I took it to the dealer when I discovered the wires were broken to the sliding electric door. I was told it would be $1500 to fix. I inquired about this because a Mini van is built to allow the doors to easily be opened and closed. The dealership said that they had seen many complaints about the door regarding this model.they turned off the door, so that I couldn't open it. I told them I would call Honda headquarters and they said nothing could be done. I essentiallly had to turn off the ability to automatically open the door when a stop is made otherwise a loud beep would emit. This is very unsafe beacuse I am hard of hearing. When it is time to get out of the car I turn the automatic back on, so that the kids can easily exit from one d
The passenger side sliding door consistently fails to close. It will start to close, and then hesitate and stop as if something were in the door to stop it, when nothing is. We typically have to turn the power off and close it manually to make it shut. Also, when putting the van into reverse, the backup camera screen often goes black, and the only way to get off of the black screen is to shut the van off completely and restart it. When using the auto-up feature on the front driver window, the window will sometimes go back down as soon as you let go of the button. You have to hold the button until it completely closes. When you have the rear entertainment going through the main speakers and you attempt to change the volume with the steering wheel controls, it'll actually change the source t
Rear door can not be opened in the cold weather. Rear door can only be opened in the warm weather
Passenger powersliding door sensor went off while driving indicating door was open when it was closed, door not latching properly to close
The car is stationary. The same thing occurs if the van is running or not. The rear hatch open switch does not work when the outside temperature is cold. The minute the outdoor temperature warms up I can open the rear hatch.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 Honda odyssey. The contact stated that the second row seats tipped forward while braking with no warning. As a result, a child passenger sustained minor pain and bruising, which required medical treatment. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 17v725000 (seats), but the contact was not notified. The dealer had not been contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was waiting to determine when the remedy and part would be supplied to the dealer. The approximate failure mileage was 5,700.
Seat in the second row behind the driver side, tipped forward after a stop. My 4 y/o was in his car seat at the time. Exited a garage, turned right onto the local street, stopped at the light on the corner. My son, while still in his car seat, tilted forward onto the back of my driver side seat. It was a traumatic experience. There wasn't enough pressure and that must be why the seat belt didn't lock. Glad I wasn't on the highway.

the trunk has been difficult to open in cold weather ever since car was purchased. car was new when purchased and the issue was infrequent over time, issue has become so pervasive that we are unable to open the trunk at all even when weather is reasonable honda issued a "service bulletin" in 2018 admitting part was faulty however as it was not an official recall, we were not notified when looking into solving this problem, we came across the "service bulletin" information. Honda has NOT included our VIN # in this issue and accepts no responsibility for fixing the faulty part of this car *** inability to open the trunk reduces means of egress from the vehicle in the event of an accident thereby creating a safety risk *** please see:[XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF IN
The rear lift gate is impossible to open in cold weather for our 2016 Honda odyssey ex. There is only one mechanism to open the rear lift gate - a physical button on the rear lift gate. When temperatures dip into 30 or 40 degrees f, the lift gate will not open. Honda released a service bulletin (16-063; april 11 2018) indicating that this is a known problem affecting all odysseys between 2011-2017 (and all crvs between 2012-2016). Unfortunately, we are out of warranty and are facing an expensive repair. Given the number of vehicles affected, we would expect Honda to issue a recall rather than a service bulletin. This is definitely a hassle, especially when attempting to load anything into the trunk, and could represent a significant safety issue in the event of a crash when other doo
