Takata recall my Honda odyssey is a 2016 model. I took it to the dealer when I discovered the wires were broken to the sliding electric door. I was told it would be $1500 to fix. I inquired about this because a Mini van is built to allow the doors to easily be opened and closed. The dealership said that they had seen many complaints about the door regarding this model.they turned off the door,…

The passenger side sliding door consistently fails to close. It will start to close, and then hesitate and stop as if something were in the door to stop it, when nothing is. We typically have to turn the power off and close it manually to make it shut. Also, when putting the van into reverse, the backup camera screen often goes black, and the only way to get off of the black screen is to shut the…

Common questions

How serious is the electrical problem on the 2016 Honda Odyssey?

It's a meaningful issue. 33 complaints have been filed and the failure mode causes operational problems for owners. Repairs average $850.

At what mileage does the electrical typically fail?

Across the 19 complaints that reported odometer mileage, most electrical failures cluster between 10,000 and 45,000 miles, with the median around 23,000. A quarter of owners report trouble before 10,000; a quarter make it past 45,000. Maintenance history matters more than the odometer alone — this is the reported failure window, not a guarantee.

What does it cost to fix?

Independent shops typically charge around $850 for electrical repairs on this vehicle. Dealer pricing tends to run 20-40% higher. The exact figure depends on the specific failure mode, parts availability, and your local labor rates. If you're outside factory warranty, an extended service contract often covers this category.

Are there any recalls related to electrical?

No active recalls currently cover electrical issues on this vehicle. The complaints filed represent owner-reported failures that haven't risen to the level of a manufacturer-issued recall — but they're still worth knowing about before you buy or budget for repairs.
