2016 Hyundai Accent owner complaints

My car stopped accelerating while I was on the expressway. The report shows that my car was in good condition. They later told me that my engine gave out. They told me that several 2016 Hyundai Accents have been having this issue. This needs to be recalled.

The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the check engine warning light and oil warning light illuminated, and the vehicle would shake, vibrate, and drive rough. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the engine oil was very low. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who performed an oil consumption test and changed the spark plugs; however, the failure continued to occur. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 92,000.

In 2019, the car started losing oil. Not realizing it was still under warranty, twice I took it to my mechanic and they replaced the valve cover gasket, December 2019 and August 2020. It never resolved and then realized it was still under warranty. Took it to the dealership November 2020 and they found the oil was leaking from a timing cover and claimed it was fixed. It appeared so at first, but then the trouble continued but we just dealt with it. Saturday, October 28, 2023, my husband was driving up a hill and the engine almost seized. Was driving the car 10-15 miles from home. Engine started smoking. Pulled off and let the car cool down. I live in az; it's 80 degrees or so now. Started car and drove home. Car started smoking again and shut down. Called local roadside mechanic for Hyundai's. He looked at it and said, it was leaking, fan frozen, broken gasket. Had the car towed home. It's a 2016. I bought it in jan 2018 from a dealer in pocatello, idaho. It's only 4 years old, less than 62000 miles. It shouldn't have motor problems/issues.

Engine overheated while highway driving (spewing steam). Would not start after cooling down. Mobile mechanic diagnosed a faulty cooling fan that had to be replaced along with reservoir (non-OEM replacements were only available at the time). Continued the trip with no further engine temperature problems.

During hot/warm weather, typically 65 degrees or hotter, as soon as I turn on my car, the traction control light, the ABS light, and emergency brake light comes on. When this happens, the speedometer does not work. The gas level on the screen will also fluctuate, as well as the odometer stops counting miles. The car will still drive normal with all these specific lights, but is obviously extremely dangerous as the speedometer does not work. Sometimes when this issue is happening, if I drive around for 10 minutes, the speedometer will start working again and all the lights go out besides the traction control light. I was driving up a hill on interstate 8 in California and all of a sudden i heard a bang under the hood and see sparks and flames and my hyundai was on fire right there on the freeway. No clue why.

Was driving my car on the highway and my speedometer kicked off. I was in motion and then the ABS, break and traction lights popped up and my speedometer went to 0 even though I was traveling at about 70mph. This is dangerous and poses a real threat to safety. It has happened many times.

Whenever the vehicle sits in tempatures below 51 degrees for more then a few hours when it is started the stability management light the and light and the break light are all on plus the and and stability management don't work. The speedometer the fuel gauge and the odometer don't track properly if at all I'm very concerned about it since I had it into both ron thinking Hyundai in gresham and gladstone several times last winter with no result they just keep saying they either can't duplicate the issue or they don't have the information to fix the vehicle cause no-one knows what's causing the problem the keep seeking help from the tech hotline and getting no result from the suggestions this is a major safety hazard seeing as the problem persists for random periods of time while being driven

My 2016 Hyundai accent engine has all of sudden stop working and i have explained to multiple shops and my insurance that i was deployed for a whole year and the car was driving fine and once I came back it just wouldn’t crank. Two Hyundai shops informed me that the engine is locked up but neither shop provided a thorough investigation as to why this has happened. There were two-three major hurricanes in Texas where it was stored while I was deployed in Kuwait and Iraq from march 2023- march 2024 as well as another hurricane in Georgia where i am currently located now which happened September 2024. The airbag light has come on, december 13, 2017 as I was driving.

On sunday, november 10th, 2019 the airbag light came on while I was driving with my wife in the passenger seat. It has stayed on while driving, except for a short time, on november 14th.

I was in an accident with my 11 year old son. A woman ran a red light and we hit the car in the side completely mashing our front end. The air bags never deployed at all none of them.we were crossing the intersection on a green light!!

The airbag light illuminated on cluster.it appears and disapear.sometimes it remains steady.

Engine is failing, oil leaking in the engine that messed up my catalytic converter and O2 sensors now it’s just sluggish , doesn’t accelerate properly, doesn’t idle nearly .

The vehicle made a loud catastrophic noises stopped running and couldn’t be restarted. Towed car to dealership where it was inspected and denied coverage based on owner not original owner. This 1.6L Gamma GDI Engine is part of the larger Hyundai and Kia Engine Litigation II (Case No. 8:18-cv-02223). The settlement provides a 15-year/150,000-mile extended warranty for said engine.

Steering froze up while driving - was unable to turn car more than a few inches with great difficulty

This vehicle has totally destroyed and flooded by hurricane maria 09/20/2017.I made claim and insurance did not declared it as " lost" because it has a new vehicle.safety features on steering wheel wont function , dash , radio, floor, seats,rear trunk was flooded. According to the manufacture company , the vehicle lost it's warranty because it has flooded. I don't need an accident and experiment air bags failure, all media system don't work to keep my hands on steering wheel.

I've had my 2016 Hyundai accent 5-door since february 2016. On several occasions, I have noticed two issues. The first is that coming to a complete stop, when pressing on the brake pedal it feels like something is hitting the ground beneath my foot on the underside. Dealership found nothing because they couldn't duplicate it. The second is when at a stop sign, etc., and you start trying to increase the speed, the engine has a hard time gaining speed as quickly as it should. I have to press the acelerator to the floor board to get moving. I know that my vehicle isn't one with a huge engine but still it shouldn't struggle to gain speed every single time! I'm not very happy about this and will be taking it back to check both the brakes and engine.

My vehicle was involved in a collision yesterday that broke both headlights, buckled hood, knocked the engine in to the transmission, and busted the front fan and coolant. The airbags didn't deploy and neither did the seat belt lock. The driver was injured with his lip, nose and forehead busted because the safety features didn't work on this vehicle.
