Hyundai tucson engine the vehicle is burning excess amounts of oil. The rate of engine oil loss is over one quart per 500 miles. My mechanic tells me his evaluation is the vehicle's turbo unit causes the engine to run very hot, and the internal seals are breaking down, causing oil to mix with the fuel. The solution is an engine rebuild, which will cost over $3,000. Such a rebuild will result in the same issue arising again after the vehicle is in use for a period of time. The manufacturer has refused to address the issue, as I have corresponded with them about it. The issue is generic to all Hyundai tucsons with 1.6 litre turbocharged engine. My mechanic has researched the issue, and says it occurs in all Hyundai tucson vehicles with this engine configuration. There are other issues relat

At the end of November 2021, my oil change light came on, which was odd because I was not due for an oil change. Brought the car in, they changed my oil and the light was gone. Barely a week later, the oil light came on again. I had some guys at work check it and they said I barely had any oil. I scheduled another appointment but never made it. I was driving on the highway when my car starting shaking uncontrollably and dropped down to barely 20mph. I almost created a pileup as cars behind me were swerving out of the way. I was almost hit multiple times and could barely get my car over to the breakdown lane. My check engine light also came on as my speed dropped. I had it towed to a nearby independent garage where the mechanic told me the diagnostic codes showed that I had misfire

I was at a stoplight waiting to turn right. When there was a safe break in traffic I began the right turn, but the engine made a clunking noise and stopped accelerating in the middle of the road. At this point, cars were getting close to me and my car wasn't speeding up, so I turned on my hazard lights and managed to inch onto the shoulder. I had my 5 month old baby in the car with me, so his safety, my safety, and the safety of others on the road were at risk. We took the car to our local Hyundai dealership and they said they couldn't diagnose the issue unless they took the engine apart. They checked all of the fluid levels and electrical connections, the battery, all of that was normal but we didn't have the $500+ they wanted to take the engine apart, so that did not get checked. This ca

This evening me and my fianc were driving 45mph down hill on a straight road to get christmas gifts, and all of a sudden out of no where the engine just died/stalled (no warning/dashboard lights). Thank god we were able to coast into a gas station and get off the road safely. The car wouldn't even turn over, so my fianc checked the oil and it was low. The car doesn't leak oil and we do oil changes every 3,000 miles religiously. We carry extra oil in case an oil warning light appears so we added oil to correct fill level. To no luck the car still wouldn't turn over. As it is saturday night and tomorrow being sunday we have to wait till monday morning to get the car to a Hyundai dealer to be assessed by them. Hopefully they will come to the conclusion that the car burns oil out of no where a

The car jerks when starting from a stop. It feels like someone is tapping and releasing the brake. The problem is worse when starting from a stop going uphill.

The engine began to make a knocking noise. Upon our inspection, the vehicle had lost all oil. Vehicle was towed to our local dealership. Dealership informed us a bearing had become worn causing rapid oil loss and a rod to break, sending metal shards into the engine compartment. Engine could have seized up or caught on fire, had the vehicle continued to run. Dealership informed us of other Hyundai recalls for the same issue, however we were told our year/make/model was not included. Vehicle had been at same dealership 2 months prior for a heat/AC issue and a complete inspection was completed. No indication of bearing, oil, or engine issue was noted. No warning lights came on at any point.

When pulling out of parking area, or starting up from a complete stop at a light or stop sign, when I press the gas of the vehicle , it hesitates . It almost seems like it's going to cut out, or bogs downs, and then catches. I make sure if there is an oncoming vehicle coming , I don't pull out in fear this will happen , and I'll get hit by another car. This happens everytime it's driven

The transmission at starting from a stop has hesitation and skips when slowing down. The car has no open recall for the transmission. It has been fixed or updated from the 2016 recall. This needs to be addressed and truly fixed.

Dual clutch transmission recall: I have had issues with my tucson a week after purchase (july 2016). It's a brand new vehicle. I have had problems with shifting, accelerating, and have taken my vehicle in to be looked at several times. The Hyundai dealer in iowa said there's nothing they can do. There was a recall on the issues I have been having with my vehicle but no fix. It's the DCT (dual clutch transmission) recall; I received this in the mail a month or two after purchasing my vehicle. The only solution there is to "fix" this extremely unsafe problem is an update! Hyundai said that I would need to continue to bring it in as long as I'm having these issues to update. This is a band-aid. There is no permanent fix and I feel extremely unsafe driving this vehicle. When merging onto the

My 2016 Hyundai tucson stumbles a lot upon acceleration from a stand still. Sometimes while making a turn. A few times it put my daughter in dangerous situations. Hesitating while acceleration though an intersection. It is very frightening. I took the vehicle to the dealer twice. Once in july 2019 then again in october 2019. The first time they told me they had no idea what could be causing the vehicle to hesitate and stumble upon acceleration. They told me they had reset the computer on the car in hopes that it will fix the issue. Then the second time they told me it may be my air filter and or my fuel injectors need cleaning. I declined both because the dealer who I bought the car from just had them cleaned and air filter was almost brand new. After trying to convince me that something e

This vehicle, as other 2016 and 2017 Hyundai tucsons, has a problem with smooth and safe acceleration from a dead stop. There is a sputter, hesitation that happens each time, sometimes stronger than others. If you were making a left turn across traffic, the sputter is enough to place you in potential danger. We have taken this to our local Hyundai dealer in the 86001 zip code. We were told that other customers with the 2016-17 Hyundai tucson have similar complaints however the manufacturer has not issued any recalls nor made any suggestions on how to fix the problem. We have contacted Hyundai customer service and have been told basically that they are sorry that we don't like the vehicle but they can't satisfy everyone. I have those emails to forward to you when needed.

The rear driver side door will not open from the inside or outside of the car. The lock does click back and forth but the door remains stuck. This is a major safety issue for anyone traveling in the backseat of the car as they would be trapped in the car and unable to exit from that side of the vehicle.

The rear passenger door will not open from either inside or out. There is no damage to door or vehicle, this started randomly over an year and finally won't open. I took it to the dealer and they said its out of warranty by 1,000 miles and it will cost over $500 to be fixed. They recommend cutting the door handle off to gain access. I believe this is a safety issue and should be look into, there are many tucson owners of several Hyundai forums having the same issue. (unable to open doors). One window fixed but other to be repaired. in driving, window starts to sag and persons outside the vehicle have attempted to gain entrance through the sagging window. for the repaired window, the dealer inspected and was to repair except the price seemed too high and was only for the window regulator. taken to a glass/auto body shop who indicated both motor and regulator needed to be replaced and charged what the dealer was going to charge for only the replacement of the regulator. the within days after one window fixed, the other window refused to close all the way and the issue of someone trying to gain entrance occurred.
