Tl* the contact owns a 2016 Toyota tacoma. While driving various speeds, the vehicle began to make an abnormally loud noise. The contact noticed that the transmission would shift between gears independently and the four wheel drive feature would not engage after being activated. The dealer diagnosed that the software failed for the transmission and needed to be updated. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 325.

Transmission shakes vehicle in lower gears when slowing down to a stop. Transmission hesitates and hard jerks when shifting from reverse to drive .
AT shifter was stiff from purchase. I thought this was normal. Sometimes it shifted OK, most times not. Had independent repair shops lubricate the shifter multiple times to no avail. Then the shifter wouldn't move at all and I was in a traffic lane causing a dangerous situation. Had truck towed to an independent repair shop that found a second way to lubricate the shaft. Curious how many trucks left the factory without AT shaft lubricated.
While driving in city my truck shakes and vibrating horribly when going into 2nd gear. And continues to shake lightly as I continue driving. Dealer says nothing is wrong with the truck could be a tire issue. So got my tires balanced and rotated. Problem still resumes. And still no answer as to what the issue is. I have only 69,276 miles on the truck but it's out of warranty apparently. On highway driving the problem is less noticeable but causes no power to climb hills or pass other motorist.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 Toyota tacoma. While driving approximately 40 to 65 MPH, the vehicle randomly upshifted and/or downshifted and accelerated or decelerated on its own. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the dealer and a software update was performed. The issue recurred numerous times. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000.

My wife and I drove from austin texas to arkadelphi arkansas due to me getting out of the army'active' and my truck had been slowly studderjng, spitting etc.. Well it is stalled at a parking lot for a week now.. There is a recall for the 'crankshaft position sensor' for my exact mode and Toyota will not honor my truck for it and that's the code it's reading etc..
The rear seats do not lock. For example, the rear seats have a locking mechanism under the seat. When seat is put back into its normal position it does not lock. I had a 2001 and the seat locked once put into its normal sitting position.
My bsm sensors were blinking and a notice came up on the console to check bsm indicators. I manually turned off this function and back on---the light was blinking and the bsm sensors were still not working correctly. When I brought it in the dealership today they did some tests and looked at it and said they needed to replace the bsm wire harness because of water damage getting into the rear bumper. The estimate was for 1,0588.49 for repare. I think if Toyota is selling blind spot monitors as a safety feature, they should last more than 2 years and needs to be recalled. This is an off road vehicle? This seems like a common problem after researching it online and it's a safety hazard, not to mention the vehicle is only 2 years old.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Heated seat heating module. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Third light leaks water damaged wiring/ damaged carpet / mildew problem
Just like with the other double cab Tacoma recalls I am hearing about, the third rear tail light is leaking water into my access cab. The interior smells like mildew. I’m not sure why my truck is not covered by the recall, but it is experiencing the exact same situation. Water leaking through the deteriorated seal of the break-light. I think with accompanying mold build up.

2016 Toyota Tacoma – severe clear coat and paint failure on the hood and roof. The clear coat began peeling in 2022 and has progressively worsened. Large sections of the hood and roof show complete delamination, oxidation, and exposed basecoat. This is a widely reported defect for 2015–2017 Tacomas across multiple paint colors. Toyota Customer Care confirmed today that my VIN is not included in Customer Support Program 23TE08 and that no goodwill repair would be authorized, even though the defect is identical to the vehicles Toyota acknowledges as affected. This appears to be a manufacturing defect that compromises durability and corrosion resistance. Photos and documentation are available upon request.

This vehicle is equipped with Toyota V6 Motor that was new in 2016. The issue is the Timing Chain Cover leaks oil. This was an issue on Toyota Motors before 2016 and Toyota issued a TSB for those. However Toyota has refused to acknowledge this ongoing issue in its post 2016 Motors. This is a very well know issue by Toyota.
Upper Intake manifold flap actuator ( part: Toyota 17190-0P101 ) brakes in the intake resulting in wrong air reading and forcing vehicle into limp mode causing the vehicle to rapidly decrease speed, and creating a potential accident with other vehicles and semi's. this will continue to happen but this will give a person a false sense of security since error codes will reset once vehicle is turned off and on, a reassurance to a person that the issue has resolved itself since this will only happen at high speeds. the part is designed for fuel efficiency, as the flap opens and closes air is controlled properly for emission, but once broken will throw error codes, and force vehicle into limp mode this part is not be repairable, the part needs to be changed completely. this would happe

Driving home approximately 20 miles on a 2 lane highway (speed limit of 50mph) and noticed the OEM/factory installed driver heated seat stopped working. Proceeded to smell burnt plastic but it was late at night and I convinced myself that nothing out of the normal had occurred since my passenger did not seem concerned. The following day I did a bit of research and tested the heated seat which no longer got warm like the passenger side. Underneath the seat is an "amplifier" for the heated seat which looks to have shorted out. Both the amplifier and the male electrical connector had burnt/melted on one of the terminals. The plug looks completely ruined and I presume the amplified is now broken. All other fuses and electrical connections appeared fine.
I recently purchased a 2106 Toyota tacoma, this vehicle has been owned for about 4 months and has less than 4,000 miles on it. I was alerted of a check engine light and took this to the dealer for repairs. I was told that the wiring harness had been chewed by a rodent and this was very common at this dealership. I didn't think anything of it until I went online and notice thousands having the same issue. This is not just a one time thing or a chance occurrence. There are several pending class action lawsuits against Toyota for defective wiring and engine components that are made of a soy based product that is a principal source of some rodents diet. This makes the engine components irresistible to rodents. Honda, Toyota and Ford have all been experiencing higher than normal issues with thi

On 11/23/15 I was able to take possession of the vehicle. On 11/24/15 I got into the vehicle to crank it up when the vehicle's warning lights of brake, ABS warning to check the anti'lock brake system and check brake system and the antiskid/traction lights came on at approximate 110 miles. I immediately called the dealership and was told that it would not hurt the vehicle to drive it and that it was safe. I was told that it was probably just a fuse by a salesperson, who allegedly talked to one of the master technicians about the situation. On 11/30/15 I also reported that the cruise control was also not working to the service department when I arrive at the dealership. The vehicle was diagnosed with a bad left rear speed sensor at 185 miles and again that the vehicle was safe to driv

The windshield cracked after the first pebble hit it on the interstate. I was in a construction zone doing about 50 MPH. While this sounds like a normal issue, this happened 200 miles after getting the vehicle. I traded in my 2009 tacoma which had been hit hundreds of times on this same stretch of road. I didn't think too much of it until I went to the auto glass repair place and discovered mine was the 3rd 2016 tacoma that week for the same issue. Further research revealed that the 2016 went to a new multi-layered glass that cuts down on noise. I think this contributed to the windshield damage. While a minor chip may have been the result if it had happened with an older version windshield.
