The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the "Shift to Park" message was displayed on the instrument panel while attempting to park the vehicle. Additionally, there was a constant beeping alert coming from the vehicle during the failure. The contact later discovered that the rear brake lights and reverse lights were illuminated during the failure. A local dealer was contacted about the failure and made an appointment for a repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Vehicle will not shift properly to park when turning the vehicle off. This causes the problem of moving when attempting to turn off the vehicle.

2017 GMC acadia would issue a warning saying vehicle failed to shift to park even though the vehicle was in park. This vehicle defect is known by GMC and their dealerships. A lawsuit is currently pending regarding this issue. GMC has failed to issue a recall and has failed to resolve the issue. We took our vehicle to the local GMC dealership august 2018 due to the issue. The issue started again in november 2019. When we called about it, they said the prior work wasn't covered and we would have to pay to have the "known defect" repaired again.

Vehicle developed a major shudder and vibration from transmission. There are reports of the symptom in other complaints and a service bulletin released by GM for replacing the transmission fluid only(filter is internal and can only be replaced by removing and disassembling the transmission). When this malfunction is coupled with an EVAP sensor failure, loss of acceleration and engine stall occurs. The EVAP failure code did not appear for several weeks. I would suspect any type of engine miss will cause the same failure. Replacing transmission fluid does not remedy the severe shuddering from the vehicle.

When the shifter is placed into park the screen shows "place shifter into park" the radio still works, screen will not turn off, and the car cannot be locked making it unsafe, easy to get into or stolen.

When I put my vehicle in park and turn it off, my shift to park message comes across and I have to turn my vehicle back on and move the gear from park to something else and back to park. Sometimes this has to be done a few times before it will completely turn off.

12/27/2024 45,000 mi ODI #11632718.0

The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that after shifting to the park position and attempting to turn the vehicle off, the engine shut off but the headlights and dashboard lights remained illuminated. Also, on multiple occasions, the battery had drained and the vehicle had to be jump-started. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the floor shifter harness was faulty and needed to be replaced. The floor shifter harness was replaced and the failure was remedied, but approximately two years later the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer. The contact was informed of the manufacturer's TSB to repair the failure and a new and improved floor shifter harness was installed which corrected the failure. The contact indicated that

Pulled into a parking space, put the car into park and tried to shut the car off. The warning system said I needed to shift to park. I was in park but could not shut the car off because the car thought I wasnt in park. Took 15 minutes of shifting from park to all gears and shaking the gear shifter before it finally let me shut the vehicle off. This is now the second time this has happened and ive had to have the same thing repaired. They are replacing the whole shifter assembly. Error reads SHIFT TO PARK. This is happening every few years now and at almost 1000 dollars to repair and only lasting a year or so, this is ridiculous.

The a/c comes on and off automatically and you have no control over it. Gm states they did this so you don't have to turn your DEF. On. While I'm driving I continually have to take my eyes off the road to fiddle with the temp. Control. (the a/c comes on full cold) I've contacted GMC and they refuse to do or offer any help in this matter.

2017 acadia 'denali' trim is missing afm information from its dic display. Afm information shows when the engine is using 6 v/s 4 cylinders. Other trims seem to show afm information when equipped with v6 engine. Afm is an important feature and denali being the highest level trim should definitely have this information available. Gm should provide upgraded display to 2017 denali customers.

I was driving for approximately 20 miles on a highway with my windshield wipers in the intermittent postion. There was a light snow coming down. The wipers worked up to this time. The driver side windshield wiper stopped working. This affected viability dramatically. It would have been worse with heavier snow. I took it to the dealer and they found the screw had loosened and the wiper motor and windshield wiper were disconnected.

Vehicle will apply breaks abruptly on its own whenever it thinks a vehicle is too close. Was in traffic and it kept slamming on the breaks as I would try and move forward. Will slam on the breaks whenever I attempt to just slow down during the course of driving. Was on the highway and anytime I pressed the breaks to slow down, automatic breaks would slam down breaks on its own. Drove vehicle right to dealership as the was a major safety issue for me especially with my baby in the car.

P0128 Apparently what happens when the temp sensor on the T-Stat housing goes bad it sends a signal to the ECM that the engine is overheating, causes the temp gauge to peg to "C", shuts down A/C Compressor Clutch engagement to not exacerbate the Overheat condition and super speeds the cooling fans. Of course it's a false flag warning and the engine isn't actually running hot. At the same time a signal to the ECM also tells the Power Steering Rack that it's Super Cold out and the lube in the steering system may freeze up causing loss of steering assist. NHTSA 17-NA-158 - MAY 2017 Needed to have Thermostat and Temperature sensor replaced. Was quoted by two dealers $1400-$1700. Very deceiving for GM to have SEVERAL "tech bulletins" advising their techs how to properly diagnose this commo
