2017 Hyundai Tucson is part of engine recalls 209 & 966. Car purchased through Carvana begin of May, after initial recall issued but unaware car was impacted. All that is listed on recall page is CAMP 966 - ENGINE MONITORING LOGIC - VARIOUS MODELS which most certainly does not indicate a major issue or immediate need to address. In August, took car in for oil change and almost immediately had the engine fail. The oil change establishment sent to an automotive garage of their choosing to have replaced. At that time the latest and most severe recall was not yet in place. On November 18, quite rapidly, below warning signs and issues were experienced creating a very dangerous situation. * Abnormal (knocking) noise from the engine * Reduced engine power and/or hesitation * Illumination of the
Engine lost oil pressure to rod bearings. No warning lights of any kind. The connecting rod bearings were very loud and engine stalled a few times. I had vehicle towed to dealership. The symptoms came on suddenly, without check engine codes or warnings. The factory denied responsibility, saying the warrantee expired. I am not claiming warrantee coverage, but the symptoms are very similar to recent recall and safety recall issues for which NHTSA fined Hyundai for negligence. Nj
I am constantly having to add oil to my car. It burns oil. It is not leaking oil. I have 81000 miles on my car. I get my oil changed regularly.
Chronic over consumption of oil. You could change the oil and a day later the oil is completely black and burnt. Roughly lost a .5-1quart of oil a week doing minimal commuting. Eventually the wear from oil consumption left us with a cylinder loss and in need of engine replacement. The vehicle only has 65k miles. Clearly this is a serious problem with these cars. There is an active recall for this problem but our VIN doesn’t list. This is also the problem with many others who I have seen across all forums quora, Reddit, etc. We are sold Lemons and then footed with the cost to replace when this problem is very much known. It’s wrong on every level.

The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer to be inspected. The vehicle at times when going from a stop will occasionally totally lose all propulsion for a split second which has caused me to almost be dead in traffic. It is very scary when it happens. I don't know if it is a engine or transmission or fuel problem. I had the problem with a 2014 santa fe. My brother in law has the same problem with the same vehicle.

My 2017 Hyundai tucson is one of the many vehicles that Hyundai has finally acknowledged as having dangerous issues relating to the dual clutch transmission. I have been complaining to my Hyundai dealer for two years that my tucson stutters, stammers and loses power while accelerating from a stop. I brought the vehicle to rosen Hyundai for the third time to have them check this issue on november 8, 2019, and I finally received a response other than "we can't duplicate the problem." the service technician told me that they are well aware of the DCT problems and that they will take corrective measures to rectify it. He added that the clutch parts required to fix the problems are on backorder until mid-december. (note: as of 12/29/2019, parts are still not in) he took prompt action to obtain
Dual clutch transmission (DCT) / 1.6t engine start from stop acceleration stuttering, stalling occurs from initial take offs, while idling in stop/go traffic creates potentially dangerous drive/passenger situation in traffic especially when crossing traffic patterns and lane merging/passing. Issue has been brought to the attention of Hyundai corporate and two local Hyundai dealerships. Both parties indicate lack of knowledge on how to properly drive DCT transmission and provided both video and written training packages. Both training mechanisms failed to resolve the issue. Supposed software updates by the leasing dealership failed to resolve the issue also. Issue is still active and latest visit to dealership failed to find any issues with no repairs or software updates taking place.
When you accelerate from a complete stop, there is a major delay. Sometimes it is so bad that you can barely make it through a traffic light before it turns red again. There have been multiple times were we were almost hit due to this major delay. This is a major safety issue. We have had it in the shop 4 times and it is going in for a 5th time. They are saying that it is the design of the transmission, and there is nothing they can do to repair it.
I purchased a brand new 2017 tucson night and have experienced serious issues with the dual clutch transmission. There is a long hesitation when attempting to accelerate from a stop, making a turn or when "coasting". There have been occasions where the vehicle was not responsive at all when pressing on the gas. This is particularly dangerous when at a busy intersection with oncoming traffic coming at you. I have taken it to my local dealership twice now and am told they cannot diagnose a problem and that what I am experiencing is "typical for a DCT". This is not an acceptable response and it's a matter of time until this issue causes an accident or death. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle and am very unhappy with Hyundai's apparent lack of concern.

The automatic dual clutch hesitates when attempting to accelerate and has almost caused multiple accidents on the expressway due to this issue, especially when merging or turning. Vehicle stalls for 30 seconds or more.
Rear driver side door will not open from the inside or out. Front driver side door intermittently will not open from the outside. Unable to get children out of car is a serious risk. Many reports online about same issues with this vehicle.
