My lights keep blinking on dashboard saying 4 wheeldrive isn't available and my vehicle keeps shutting off in the middle of me driving it,this is very dangerous,I took it to Carlock Dodge Jeep and for recall on vehicle that they say was causing the problem they fixed the recall but vehicle still doing the same thing
Issue related to recall t70 continues after update and testing. Dash will properly dim if the car is turned on at night. However, if the car is on and I open my door, temporarily turn on cabin lights, or drive temporarily in bright environment (eg. Tunnel), my dash will become bright and stay bright. This has already been identified as violation of federal safety regulations with recall t70 or 17v-740
I bought my car in 2018 brand new with less than 10 miles. In the first few months, it required a brand new radio system and rear camera replacement. In some months following that, I have had my car stop on me while driving, approximately 4-5 times with only excuses as to why the car would unsafely do this. First time was an update that needed to be done. Second time was the keyfob battery but accused it of being lack of oil changes (I don't need to go to the dealership for oil changes). Next, was no explanation at all. Last was yesterday when it died twice in one day in the middle of the road. They called to let me know that it probably is because my oil is 3/4 way depleted even though I had an oil change done less than 3k miles ago. Their suggestion is that I return every 500 MIL
My car is having the exact issue described by investigation/recall 17v740000. However, I am not included in the recall. Potentially the recall is not including all affected cars.

Nozzle at fuel pump was stuck inside the gas cap and tank. Both fuel station staff & I attempted to remove the nozzle from the gas tank but it would not come out. We had to use a piece of metal to pry out the nozzle. There is a metal notch on the gas nozzle that once inserted becomes lodged on the inner lip of the gas cap and you cannot remove it. This is a serious defect in the gas tank design and could cause safety issue especially if the gas nozzle continues to pump gas and the tank is full.
Auto Start Stop feature stop working and caused my car to stall. I had to set my car to stop, take my foot of the break. Re started my car, all while traffic was going, in danger of getting rear ended.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 Jeep compass. The contact stated that the fuel gauge was defective and did not work as intended without warning. Also, when attempting to place fuel into the fuel tank, the nozzle had to be re-positioned in order to continue adding fuel. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The contact was also informed that since he purchased the vehicle from a dealer that was no longer in operation, they could no longer stand by the vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 10,677.
The engine malfunctioned on the freeway causing my brother to have to pull to the side as safely as possible. The engine was smoking and all of the electrical systems started to fail. It said it was overheating.
While pulling off from a stop, the electronic parking brake turns on by itself. This has occurred multiple times, typically on flat city street at a red light or stop sign. The only way to get the car to drive is to restart the engine, but this sometimes takes a few times to start.

The vehicle has been in motion every occurrence and happened on a highway. The Jeep has shut off while I was driving. I had the automatic off turned off and when I stopped at a stop light the Jeep powered down, dash and lights went crazy, and my Jeep would not start back up. It took over 5 minutes to get the Jeep to come back on. There is also a popping noise and a very hard shift at times. When this hard shift occurs it pulls my Jeep to the right, I have had it in the shop several times this year and they cannot figure out the problem. They thought changing my shocks would help but it has not. There is still a popping sound when I hit a certain speed and then it is still shifting extremely hard randomly and jerks the whole Jeep when it happens. It has almost caused me to wreck a couple ti
My struts as well as 2 of my cousins with the same make and model jeeps have all been a problem. So there has to be an issue with Jeep compass struts
2 times the same incident occurred 6 months apart, once in june 2019 mileage 22046 and once in december 2019 mileage 28423. Bought the car brand new in 2017. Oil is dissappearing!! The oil pressure low light will flash on - there is a loss of power - while driving - no warning! Then the light will go off. Drive to oil change business to have them check the oil level and the Jeep will be 3 to 3.5 quarts low. No leak present or oil seen. Engine seems to slip while driving before this happens.

Engine stalls at any speed due to low oil. 2.4 engine has excessive oil consumption to the degree of shutting down in between 5000 mile oil changes. Engine has 30,000 miles and uses 3 quarts between changes "apparently". Chrysler says 1 quart per 2000 miles!!! On a new vehicle, this is totally unacceptable!
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 Jeep compass. The contact stated that the oil in his vehicle needed to be changed every two months. In addition, the low oil warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to ganley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (located at 310 broadway ave, bedford, oh 44146, (440) 232-2121) where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 51,000.
My 2017 Jeep compass has only 14,000 miles on it. I made a turn today and noticed the low oil indicator came on. I immediately told my husband and he checked the oil and it wasn't even showing up on the dip stick. It caused my engine to turn off in an intersection and I had to hope that I could get out of the intersection without getting hit. I managed to get it turned back on and the emergency brake was automatically engaged when the engine turned off. I disengaged the emergency brake and started my engine and made it home. We did add 3 quarts of oil. So, I researched this "problem" online and found many people having the same problem with this engine burning oil like crazy. I'm not sure if my engine is damaged or not (due to the oil being basically dry). I am planning on taking

While driving, my parking break will turn on and halt the car. It usually is around when there is an issue with my auto start/stop.

Purchased first defective vehicle on 9-29-17, received replacement on 10-7-17, discovered the dash lights would not dim at night. The dealership has been holding the car waiting for a solution from Chrysler ever since. They were scheduled to replace the defective module on 11-22-17 but issued the recall on 11-21-17. I still have not been given a repair date on a new vehicle that I have owned for 2 months and had at home but for 12 days.

On 11/23/20 I was at quirk Chrysler Jeep dealer getting an oil change and I was informed that both front lower control arms needed to be replaced the vehicle has only 33,906 miles. 2018 Jeep compass vehicles were recalled for this same issue. This is a safety issue to have these parts fail prematurely.
