On 11/21/2025, while operating my vehicle, I experienced a critical engine failure. The engine failed a compression test, with readings as follows: Cylinder 1: 125 PSI Cylinder 2: 60 PSI Cylinder 3: 25 PSI Cylinder 4: 3 PSI As a result, the engine had no compression in multiple cylinders, preventing the vehicle from starting. On November 2, while driving my 10-year-old son to a soccer game, the vehicle suffered a sudden loss of power at road speed. The vehicle's failure to provide a "limp-home mode" or any sensor warnings prior to stalling created a significant life-safety risk for my son and me as we had to coast across traffic to a safe location where the car stalled. •No Warning Indicators: There were no prior "Check Engine" lights, oil pressure warnings, or temperature fluctuations. •Hazardous Failure Mode: The vehicle stalled completely in active traffic. I was forced to perform an emergency maneuver, coasting across lanes of traffic to reach a safe shoulder. •Outcome: The vehicle was towed to Ourisman Kia of Bethesda, where service technicians diagnosed "severe internal engine failure."

My Kia sportage engine light came on and the engine started making a knocking noise while driving down road on a saturday night . (dealerahip was closed) first thing monday morning called Kia dealer. Took into dealer . After they checked it out they informed my engine was ruined . Had metal shavings in it . And because I didnt take it into them or a professional to change the oil(I had family do it) my warrenty no longer will cover it. Fought this for weeks with consumer affairs.. And got nowhere . Did some research and the exact same thing was recalled in the 2015 Kia sportage .. Just seems ironic the same thing happend to my 2017 sportage.

Transmission intermittently goes into neutral while driving causing engine rev, loss of ability to continue to drive/maintain speed. Very dangerous as you have to drift to the side of the road and put the transmission into Park and back to Drive to get it to engage again. Meanwhile you could easily be struck by another car trying due to sudden loss of momentum with no brake light warning or trying to maneuver to the side of the road with no engine power. Occurs every month or two. Dealer unable to duplicate multiple times. No warnings before it happens. There are at least 20 other reports of this on the NHTSA site. When will an investigation be opened? This has the potential to cause a serious crash.

While removing the padding of my daughters car seat to wash I discovered that one of the straps is cut/ripped almost halfway through. It appears that the same issue is starting on the other strap. The seatbelt harness strap is cut/ ripped halfway through. This could have resulted in serious injury or even death if we had been in an accident. I’ve contacted the manufacture but have not heard back from them. Other than myself nobody has inspected the car seat.

I was driving home on i-91 S when my car started smoking from under the hood. There were no warning lights and the temperature gauge read normal with the lever at the center. I pulled off at the next Exit and parked in a parking lot. I popped the hood and found that a fire had started around the engine. The fire grew to the point that the whole front half of the car was burned before the fire department was able to put it out. The vehicle was assessed by my insurance, but I think the extent of that was to determine whether it was a total loss (which it obviously was).
