2018 Cadillac XT5 owner complaints

The vehicle was serviced five times, but the fuel safety indicator illuminated every time the vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was taken to taylor Cadillac (6100 central ave, toledo, oh 43615, (419) 842-8800) where a new EVAP purge valve was installed. Shortly afterwards, the fuel injectors were replaced and new engine banks were installed. A few months ago, the fuel safety warning indicator illuminated again. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and a technician from the manufacturer was assigned to inspect the vehicle. The failure mileage was 10,650.

I received a Steering Assist is Reduced message and the cooling fan ramped up to full speed. In contacting Cadillac, it seems that it is a below temperature error for the thermostat. Unsure what the thermostat has to do with steering. Also in researching this, this is a wide spread issue and needs to be a recall. My XT5 has 48000 miles on it and the powertrain warranty expired 3 months ago. I believe this should be a recall and should be repaired by the manufacture as it could cause a safety issue while driving.

When I get on the freeway and go around 68 mph my vehicle starts shaking and I constantly get a stabilitrak message that flashes on and off. I have to hold the steering will tight because it swerves a little and had to start driving away from cars. I took it to get the wheels balanced and it still does the same thing. The mechanic from the dealer ship I purchased the vehicle from said he could not find anything wrong with it.

Parked in public parking lot. After starting car and attempting to backup, car would not move. Parking brakes were locked. Tried numerous times to release brakes. Parking brake would not release. Car would not move forward or backwards. Had same issue with 2013/xts and 2014/xts but turning car on/off would release brakes on those cars. This time, had to call tow truck. Weather sunny, temperature 33f. Car just recently received mileage maintenance. Warranty service for brakes twice since purchasing the car.

Brakes failure. Approaching a busy intersection and facing a red light, I slowed and prepared to stop the vehicle. Nothing happened with regard to braking; instead, the engine seemed to rev up as it continued through the red-lighted intersection with 2 lanes of busy cross traffic from both directions. I was having some routine maintenance done on my car and a popping sound was heard around and under the front of my car. The the car displays a break light in the display and the fault code C056E is now constantly present in the computer. My vehicle is not showing a recall but I know this problem. Is a recall on other similar year and models.

Transmission While at a red light/complete stop car will jerk out of nowhere for no reason. It also did it while driving down hill at a steady speed of 70 mph. Could have been a bad accident if a big rig or other vehicles would have been behind me.

I was driving on the freeway, came to a stop as traffic increased, then the car shut off m. I had no power, could not get out of the vehicle, no hazards, no tail lights, nothing. I had a complete panic attack, I thought I was going to die. I called OnStar from my cell, they could even locate me. After 30 mins, calling 911, texting the representative from the dealership in which I purchased the car, it turned back on. Either the car was shut off with a signal or there is a serious hazardous issue that needs to be addressed.

While waiting at a light, then the car shut off. Lossing all power. I could not get out of the vehicle, no hazards, no lights, nothing. After several pulls of the door handle I was able to open the door but the hazard light was not able to come one. After 4 attempts to engage break to push start the vehicle on ethe brake locked up and would not disengage. Total screen black out, no power no hazards. After some time, the brake released screen activated and I was able to press the brake and try to start the car again. It did not work but was now able to turn on hazards. After 15 mins, I tried again and it cranked up normal. I had new battery in June 2025 and 60K Maintenance services in Aug 2025. This happen in Oct 2025.

When backing car up, often times the yellow "guide lines" appear, often times don't. Note makes no difference if daylight or night, weather car is clean or dirty (not affected by backup camera), clear out or raining. Brand new in april 2018, picked up from dealership, has happened since 1st week of operation. Took to dealership recently, could not find issue, said no known problems with like cars.

The contact was informed that BCM failure was caused by internal corrosion to the unit due to condensation leaking from the HVAC water line, which was positioned above the BCM. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the BCM unit was previously replaced due to the same failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 95,000.

Car has twice attempted to accelerate when not going very fast as if it was attempting to get back to what the cruise control was set for. Cruise control was not on and I have never used it since I purchased the car. It does not want to stop accelerating when I tap the brake and have had to brake several times to get the accelerating to stop. Both times I was in traffic but not going very fast as I was accelerating from being stopped at light. The contact stated that while his wife was driving 35 MPH, the rear driver's side tire had a sidewall blowout. The contact's wife was able to drive to a tire dealer. The dealer replaced all four tires. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the tires were not covered under warranty. The failure mileage was unavailable.

If either tracks of the front seats are not perfectly aligned with the base, some very sharp metal is exposed. It has cut two toes so far when exiting the car. If it cuts my father major problem, he is a hemophiliac. Cadillac says functioning as designed. Funny.
