The collision warning system has failed 4 or 5 times since I bought the car new in March of 2019. When the system stops working, the warning "Check BSD" appears on the driver's display. A couple of times the system started working without service. Other times service was required. The last time Hyundai service said the system went out of calibration. No explanation of how that would occur. They re-calibrated the system. Of course, once the system stops working, I have to remember that I won't get a warning when changing lanes or parking, so I must be sure to use extra careful. (I always look when I change lanes, but the warning system gives me extra confidence. I am sure many other people just rely on the system.)

While on highway car motor stopped working could not get car to turn back on. This happened on a busy highway. After 8 days in dealership so far received a call saying the cars fuel pump may be the problem
Parked car on street (facing slightly uphill) on Saturday morning, neutral weather conditions. Gas tank indicator arrow on dash points to wrong side of car. Points to passenger side, should point to driver side.
When driving the car home from the store. The car started to vibrate, and no lights came on then then I got to a stop light and the car didn't want to go when i was pushing the gas pedal tried it a few times the check engine light came on and was flashing then the car went, and the engine light went off. Got back home and an hour later went to the car and the check engine light was on and it was vibrating and making a slight ticking noise. I am not sure what is going on with it. I change the sparkplugs a few months ago and get oil changes regularly never let things go past the needed time.

On December2, 2021 I was driving on the freeway when my engine made a high pitched sound followed by a banging sound inside the engine. There were no warning messages or symptoms prior to the incident. I immediately pulled off the freeway as much as I could. Then the engine just quit running. It was terrifying as I was in morning rush hour traffic and couldn't pull all the way off the road. I called a tow company, then my local Hyundai repair shop. I was told by them that they wouldn't be able to look at it for 6 weeks! I ended up having it towed to a local auto repair shop in my neighborhood and was told that there was a complete engine failure. As the car was 3,000 miles over warranty the Hyundai dealer would look at it but it would take at least 2 months. I still owe money on the car a
The engine burns oil quickly which could lead to the engine blowing. I have to get more oil changes than average to the engine burning oil.
The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that while driving approximately at 40 mph a loud ticking noise was suddenly present coming from the engine compartment and the vehicle would not properly accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the engine was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet contacted regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 56,000.
Car was being driven home when car started shaking heavily and check engine light started flashing. Car had been needing 1qt of oil every 600-800 miles, depending on drive (highway would go longer). Pulled off to the side and plugged in code reader - found that cylinder 3 misfired and catalyst system below threshold. Was able to get the car home. Towed it to Hyundai dealership the following week once they were available and they found a bad cylinder head and leaking cylinder. Assumption is the amount of oil it was using ended up backing up carbon buildup. Car has less than 100,000 miles on it and even with maintenance it needs a new engine.
Engine is burning excessive amounts of oil regularly.

Engine, power train, malfunction changing my speed control. No warning lights, first ticking noise from engine then knocking loud noise from engine. Noticed ticking about 4 days ago at first, today on freeway going 60-70 mph just changed to loud knocking, immediately engine warning starts to flash on dash board then speed just drops from 60-70 mph to 35 mph almost got hit by trucker and another car . Under 90 day warranty still from dealership (27 days since purchased) no license plate yet but insured and registered. Read many complaints of the same problems from numerous of people having the exact same problem. Very dangerous when vehicle stops accelerating on a steep pass on hwy with heavy traffic, this was almost an accident report to dispatch but luckily I reacted fast enough to swerv
We were driving the car and all of a sudden it would only go 30 mph and starting making a noise, pulled over and car would not go anymore. I took to a shop authorized from my carmax care program and it was diagnosed as rod bearings broken in the engine. This is a know issue with this model and Hyundia extended the warranty due to know issue. We were then advised to take to a dealer since a warranty issue, when it got there and they looked at it and the repair shop called them to tell them they broke it down to failure the dealer is now trying to charge me 8 hrs labor to look at. This is not a my issue , its a manufacture issue so I should not have to pay all this money to have same diagnostic I reported to Hyuandi headquarters and also reported the shop. Someone needs to fix this issue m
In mid-2024, the vehicle experienced a flashing check engine light. I brought it to Murfreesboro Hyundai (TN), where they confirmed the oil was low and started an oil consumption test. A bearing clearance test (BCT) was also performed and passed. After back-and-forth over several weeks, I was told the oil consumption was within spec, but the dealership stated Hyundai would cover all necessary repairs, including a combustion chamber cleaning, under warranty. I was told this work was completed and the vehicle was returned to me. In July 2025, the exact same flashing CEL returned. I brought the car back to the same dealership, where they again found the oil was 2.5 quarts low. However, this time they claimed no previous combustion cleaning or repairs had been done, and that I would now need t

Tire: hankook ventus s1 noble 2. Size: 225/40r18 88w. Abnormal cracks all around the circumference of outer sidewall of OEM tire first noticed at 17k miles. Tires have 22k miles now. New port richey Hyundai inspected all four tires and spoke to hankook and are aware of the NHTSA recall for the same brand and model tire with exactly the same discrepancy but different size and will not replace them. Hyundai said hankook may offer to replace only if I pay a prorated amount. Tires are OEM installed on my 2018 Hyundai elantra gt sport. Vehicle is garaged daily, no dangerous driving, or passenger or cargo weight in excess loaded while stationary or when driving.

After switching engine off, some electrical (maybe ignition) remains on which sometimes drains battery. This issue has always occurred upon shutting car off.
tires 1 complaint shown
The tires came stock on this model car and at the 30K mile mark I noticed cracking or splitting in the sidewalls of each of the tires. I am not aware if the manufacture, Hankook, has released any statements or confirmation about this issue but the issue occurred well with the 50K mile warranty window. This was shocking to see and could have been very dangerous to myself and other drivers had the cracking sidewalls on any of the tires failed or caused a blowout on the road. Because of the nature of this issue there were no warning signs. Luckily I caught this issue before it contributed to any accidents or harm.

Car shut off while on the highway randomly started shaking. All lights turned on check engine, motor oil light battery light. Car shut off to the point where I couldn't accelerate. So imagine being on the highway and your car shuts off randomly while your in motion and cant accelerate to merge to the emergency lane. This happened 4 more times on my way to the dealership less then 800 miles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My car, with less than 4k, has a "spontaneous" windshield crack that is large, long and travels across my line of vision which is a safety issue. Nothing hit the windshield, it is parked is locked garage and I did not drive over rough terrain, hit a pothole, drive under any bridges or park under a tree. I didn't drive on a highway either. I just got in my car and there it was! This crack is growing in length and I have noticed some black, foam trim curling up along the edge of where the windshield meets the hood. There is no visible point of contact that I can see, no chips, no star burst chip - just smooth on the outside and inside of car. There is also some strange splatter marks on the inside of the window as if a small carbonated beverage was shaken up. Opened & sprayed on it but the s

18000 miles on the car started hearing air come from the brake pedal. Took it to the dealer who informed me that the brake booster was faulty no recall on the 2018 elantra gt but there is on the 2017. Car loosing power and slipping transmission. Dealer was planning to charge for the inspection of a warrantied vehicle and it ended up with a braking system issue?
