Service shifter keeps coming on my car while I'm driving since I bought it and it lights up all red next to the p r n d and you can't see your MPH on the screen or tell what gear you are in. I have to pull over turn my car off and open my door and then restart it for it to go away. Sometimes it comes right back on. I told dealership and they said they can't do anything about it until it comes on and they can hook it up to the machine because nothing comes on when they plug computer in to the car.

Power take off unit (PTU) failed, causing loss of power while driving.
I turned my Jeep on, put it into drive and the screen says service shifter. All lights on shorter are on.
While driving and stationary the service shifter light illuminates on the dash and all the lights on the floor shifter illuminate all gear positions. Also, at low speed, when adding power, the transmission has a "bump" as it tries to shift into the next gear. Makes it jerk/clunk into gear.
The shifter keep saying that it needs to be serviced the car only has 30,000 miles on it . I have spoken with other Jeep owners and they say that they have has the same issue
Service shifter appears on screen, all selections on shifter light up red. 40,000 miles. Hundreds of others with the same problem on the forums. Vehicle stationary. Just started up. Turn off and restart- it goes away

Service shifter light, r,p,n,d, all lights turn red. Happened months ago at 36,300 miles, didn't happen for a month then came back. Now comes on every couple weeks, sometimes multiple times in a row. Turn car off and back on the lights go off. Happens at intial start up and while driving.
We were traveling in our 2018 Jeep cherokee latitude and at a red light, the car just turned off. We had to sit for awhile and then restart it by putting on the brake and some other thing. We replaced the battery and it ran for about 20 minutes. Then, it stopped while we were at a red light again! It only restarted after replacing the battery twice. We aren't spending money on a new battery until we know exactly what's wrong.
I believe TSB 08-054-18 does not take seriously enough the danger of an automatic car shutting off mid drive. Only by luck did I avoid being hit on a small road. This has happened pretty much every year of owning the car but I thought it was a fuel/oil issue related to weather until the shifter messages popped up this year.
service shifter warning light and It seems like it's happening to a lot of jeep. I believe it should be a recall.

A common issue with Jeeps with plastic oil filter housing is the oil filter housing cracks leading to oil leaks and engine damage.
Making a right turn, engine shut off no power, lights stated I must be in park to shift warning lights. The Jeep would not start. I had experienced no prior issues before this happened. I called my husband who arrived and drove it home. I called the dealership and they basically told me this was a known issue with this motor and to check the oil. Upon checking the oil there was very little on the dipstick. Once again I contacted the dealership and was told I basically need to keep a check on the oil. This is a safety hazard!
While company employee was driving the vehicle, without warning, the engine shuts down. It has happened numerous times, at highway speeds, and also in town in traffic without warning. The Jeep dealer said it needed an oil change, but the oil life monitor says there is still 56% oil life remaining. After the oil change, the problem seems to go away for a while. After researching, it appears to be related to the vehicles hydraulically driven variable valve timing. Jeep says the vehicle is low on oil, that's why the oil change fixes the problem, but no oil light or any other warning ever comes on. The vehicle just dies and then restarts after coasting off the road or stopping in the middle of traffic.

Purchased my 2018 cherokee in feb 2018 and in october 2019 had vibration in steering wheel. Dealer said I had 4 warpped rotors that needed to be replaced at my expense. It seemed odd at only 18 months of normal driving, mostly highway.
I have a 2018 Jeep cherokee with under 30,000 miles on it. My car's stalled in the middle of an intersection while taking a right turn. My brakes and steering were locked, causing me to drift up on to a curb and hit a sign. No warning or indicator lights came on in the car prior to this. I had the car towed to the dealership that I am leasing the car from. I was told that this is common with jeeps, that the car will burn through oil very quickly, that no low oil indicator light will come on, and that the engine will shut down as a 'safety feature.' I was told that there is nothing I can do to protect myself beyond getting oil changes every 3k miles and that it 'should' be fine. Again, there is absolutely no warning that the car will shut down or that there is an issue prior to it turning o
1) Engine turns off while driving the vehicle and the dash tells me to shift it into park. After the car is stopped and shifted into park it makes a starting noise as if you are trying to start the vehicle as if it is flooded, but it will eventually start after approximately 30 seconds. After approximately 30 seconds the vehicle starts sometimes without even pushing the start button. 2) The vehicle dies often when turning, driving over small amounts of snow, backing up, or exerting the engine at all. It usually does not shut off while driving straight down the road without exerting any energy unless there is snow causing the engine to exert any energy. This has caused safety risks to me and others in the following manner: a) It has caused me to stall while turning onto the highway fro

At 26,000 miles on my 2018 Jeep cherokee trailhawk, the service shifter light came on.
All the engine oil leaked out of the car and started to smoke while I was in motion and the engine light came on but was perfectly fine at first. I do not know what had happened but my engine is now messing up and I almost got in a car accident.
Myself along with several other that I have researched have been having problems with SHIFT SERVICE on our jeep Cherokee cars
