The engine is burning oil around 1 quart every 700 miles. I check the car oil level around every 10 days. I have experienced when I didn't check the oil and the low oil engine light would come on in the instrument panel. Hyundai shows no recall for this 2019 Hyundai Sonata Limited edition. I believe that this type of incident occurred back around 2011 with Hyundai's models for that time

The part in question is the oil pan. An oil leak was identified at the place where I get my oil changed. The service center at the dealership informed me that there was a crack in the oil pan due to overtightening of the drain plug. I am not sure how they made that connection. The risk of this oil leak could lead to engine failure if oil levels drop below a certain level. There were no warning lights or messages from the car about the oil leak.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Since april 2025 i’ve been having low oil readings in my vehicle despite regular oil changes I took it into the dealer since my vehicle was still under warranty, which they stated only one part was under warranty. I had to pay $800 after this was replaced. I started having engine light come on. This engine light when I paid a diagnostic fee I learned that the cylinder three was misfiring. It was suggested that I have an oil change and get the oil level checked again within a week. This was done and it was determined that it was burning too much oil. I submitted this to the insurance and was told that this was not covered that there must be another reason why this was not working the way it sh
My vehicle has an oil consumption problem. I put in 5 quarts of oil last week after changing the oil three weeks before this. I am down today December 19, 2025 2 1/2 quarts when I put in 5 quarts last Friday. Hyundai motor Corp. says I have to pay for the $90 oil change to do the oil consumption test then I have to go back 1000 miles later and pay $600 for an oil combustion cleaning and drive it another thousand miles and come back and see the oil level to see if I need an engine. I think this is absolutely a safety hazard and needs to be taken very seriously for all customers that drive a Hyundai that are having these issues.
The contact owns a 2019 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing excessive oil consumption. The vehicle was taken for an oil change, and the contact was informed that the vehicle required an oil change every 10 days. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer after driving 1,000 miles after an oil change, and the dealer informed the contact that a combustion cleaning was needed. The dealer performed the combustion cleaning, but the failure persisted. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that an independent mechanic and the dealer had diagnosed the vehicle and had determined that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and
Hyundai replaced my engine under warranty due to their oil consumption in mid October. About 2 weeks later all warning lights came on and they said need new battery. They put in new battery in November. 15 miles after new battery a burning smell and smoke came from under hood with visible smoke. Took to dealer following day and no smoke. Got car back and next day it’s smoking and burning smell. Got it back to dealership and they had it a while and said no smoke and I got car back. They can’t find a reason and it’s not smoking .About a week later (tonight) burning smell and smoke from under hood at the engine.
There is excessive oil consumption with the engine in my car. Hyundai says 1qt per 1000 miles is “acceptable” however this is not acceptable and can lead to catastrophic engine failure and oil slick on roadways if not caught in time. This is a know problem with Hyundai/Kia at this time. In many cases Hyundai/Kia owners are left with a “lemon” of a new car that is currently in warranty. Some have been granted replacement engines that have not lasted 3000 miles. A recall must be issued in the name of safety on these cars. The manufacturer must be held accountable for the lack of quality that has been put out over the last decade.
My oil light came on after driving it about 4700 miles from purchase date. I checked the oil and there was no oil on the dipstick. 200 miles and 2 days later the check engine light came on and put it into limp mode. It was about a half quart low. I was put at risk for having to go slow on a main highway to get back home. I took it to a local Hyundai dealership they did a diagnostic and bearing clearance test for 572.00. They said it passed. Then I did a 1000 mile oil consumption test. They over filled my oil and it passed. The 2nd 1000 mile oil consumption test they did not over fill my oil and it failed. They told me they would submit a PA to Hyundai corporate and as long as the maintenance was done they would most likely replace the engine. He also told me my engine could blow anytime.
4500 miles after an oil change the oil drain plug fell out and oil leaked out resulting in an engine stalling. An oil warning light came on 7 minutes before the vehicle stalled on the highway.
I started the car and smoke came from the engine compartment I didnt think anything of it but the smoke keep getting worse . So I pulled over and open the hood to find fire come from on top of the Engine the flames got higher so I asked an local restaurant for an fire extinguisher I put it but know these cars this could of been an big problem if I had parked in the garage or park next to other cars or even if I keep driving . It would of not been good! By this time the Shelby Twp. fire dept showed up and sprayed more water on it.
I purchased a 2019 sonata demo vehicle with 5,020 miles in june 2019. I removed the temporary tag and replaced with permanent tag on july 16. On july 20, while driving on the expressway at approximately 65mph, the engine overheating alert came on and the temperature gauge was on hot. I pulled over on the side of the expressway and waited for hours (in nearly 100 degree summer heat) to have a new vehicle towed to the dealership. The service department advised me that the water pump malfunctioned and caused the belt to tear. The service department could not provide a reason for why the water pump/belt malfunctioned on a new vehicle. The water pump and the belt were replaced after the service department had my vehicle for a about a week. The service department advised me that I should not

Factory paint on my 2019 Hyundai Sonata (white Z05 warranty) is peeling on metal panels. Hyundai acknowledges paint failure under the Z05 warranty extension and directed me to authorized repair shops. When I contacted these Hyundai-referred shops, they stated they do not blend horizontal panels such as hood/roof/deck lid and would instead tint or use trim to disguise color differences. Hyundai corporate confirmed in writing that tinting alone does not meet Hyundai OEM repair standards, and that blending should be used when needed for proper color matching. Independent body shops also confirmed blending is required for a proper repair, with documented estimates ranging from $3,064 to $10,378.92 for OEM-level refinishing. Being offered tint-only/spot repairs without blending leaves exposed
I purchased this vehicle brand new with only 18 actual miles on the car around 6/14/19. During a call to dealership customer service call I was advised there was a software update that needed to be completed (service campaign 953 - ECM & cluster update-engine monitoring logic product improvement). Service was completed within 4-5 days before service campaign was closed. Within one week later was driving vehicle and bell went off and displayed two message on the instrument cluster. Three indicator lights were frontal collision avoidance, warning indicator and epb indicator activated. After arriving at destination I was going to back vehicle into a parking spot and noticed the rear camera not working. After getting back in car and leaving, the instrument cluster and camera was back to

The car was stolen, one of the vehicles that Hyundai manufactured without an Engine Immobilizer, making it very easy to steal. Consumers didn't know about this defect, because the corrupt automaker kept us in the dark. I'm fairly certain that by breaking the steering column to expose the port to start the car, that driving the speed limit or having control of the vehicle was on the thieves mind. The safety of my neighbors and anyone they were driving would have had their safety compromised. The vehicle is currently being repaired cosmetically. The Engine Immobilizer will not be installed by the body shop. It was inspected by a certified repair shop of State Farm. No warning lights were illuminated.

The paint of my 2019 Pearl White Sonata is peeling off on the hood. I see that there was an extended warranty extension on the same car of 2017 and 2018. I would like to know why not including 2019 of the same color on the same car.

The contact's uncle owns a 2019 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while his uncle was driving approximately 20 MPH and going over a speed bump, the driver's side front and side air bags deployed. The contact stated that the passenger’s side air bags did not deploy. The contact stated that his uncle saw the air bags warning light illuminated, but only after the air bags had deflated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer who did not want to diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.
