Transmission whine stated on or around 52000 miles. Whine progressively increased in volume over the next 2000 miles. Toyota dealer analyzed the noise and recommended the transmission be replaced. Transmission out of warranty. Independent transmission shop confirmed transmission internal pump was failing and could cause transmission lockup at speed.

Per my mechanic (fyi: 56k miles on vehicle): I test drove the vehicle and can hear a noticeable whine type noise when accelerating the noise goes away when getting off throttle. I put it on lift and the noise is coming from the transmission pump and sounds like cavitation. I checked the fluid level and it was overfull, very dark and has some very fine metal debris in the fluid. Something is coming apart inside the transmission has caused a catastrophic failure. The transmission will need replaced. I called Toyota to check availability and these transmission are on a restricted order. The dealer would need to call corporate Toyota to see what is needed to even order one. Usually a restricted order means they are on the edge of a back-order or having problems with the part and are working on

automatic transmission makeing a whinning noise. Many other customers complaining about same problem. Car has 72,000 miles on it which puts it out of 5 year/60,000mile warranty.Customers feel that toyota should cover replacement or repairs cost knowing they have had same problem with 2017/2018 models and have not corrected the problem with the 2019 model.Very unprofessional for such a high quality company.

The transmission failed while going up a steep hill the car lost power and shut off. Could have caused seriously property and body damage if traffic or people were around. Luckily no accident happened but could certainly cause an accident if the circumstances are different. Please make an official complain so this could be fully investigated.

We started the vehicle that is parked in front of our house at around 8am to get some groceries. The vehicle started and everything seemed normal. Shifted to d and started moving and as I was leaving the spot, I pushed the break to make a left turn and it won't stop. Pushed the break pad several times and the car won't stop. Finally moved the gear to p and it stopped and the engine turned off. I started the engine again and tried to reverse it, it won't reverse and only going forward. I called autonation Toyota of leesburg, they towed the vehicle. The vehicle was purchased on 11/30/19 with only 45 miles in it. It was a frightening because my neighbor was putting something to his car and I was about to run at him.

The car randomly shuts off, while waiting in line or when the break is depressed. The vehicle won’t start, battery is completely dead and then comes back randomly.

When I start the Highlander, there is a loud (hurts your ears) feedback noise through the speakers, and the red and green lights near the SOS button flash multiple times. This happens intermittently, and when it doesn't happen the SOS button only flashes once.

My vehicle has been on the recall list since january 2020, but Toyota still has not issued me a notice to have the fuel pump replaced. They continue to say over the phone that they have no remedy available. This is outrageous. They should issue the notice so I can get the pump replaced before the trans on the highway. So far I have not had a malfunction.

While driving on the freeway less than 10 miles from my home, my sunroof exploded and broke into pieces. I was driving on a section of freeway where there was nothing above me and there were no other cars near me. There was a loud noise and then the air was rushing into my car.

We believe the problem is in the SOS system. This is an intermittent problem that occurs about every 5 to 15 starts. At start-up, an ear piercing scream/screech comes from somewhere in the front speakers and lasts about 2 to 5 seconds. At times the scream is so loud that it leaves a ringing in your ears. We are very concerned about our grandkids riding in this vehicle. This problem needs to be addressed, it’s not going away and it’s making it different to drive.

Although my car was new (only 11 months old) and less than 5000 miles, it had shut down completely while I was pulling out of a parking lot. I had to get it towed to the nearest Toyota dealership overnight. They told me it was my faulty fuel pump and that they had never seen that happen to such a new car before. Currently I have my check engine light on (my car has less than 6200 miles on it) and it only goes away when I put in a full tank of gas. After I drive about 2 miles, the check engine light turns on again. I am terrified my car engine will just die once I'm on the road, or worse, the freeway. I am unable to drive this car without that fear. Please see culver city Toyota records for proof of my fuel pump problem and engine dying. They also have record of my towing to that dealership
