2020 Acura RDX owner complaints

The whole rear glass unexpectantly shattered. My Car was parked in the driveway and I found it this way later in the day. The whole rear hatchback glass was shattered everywhere. Glass pieces were starting to fall inside. I called the my local Acura dealer Bobby Rahal and they said this was problem with the RDX but Acura was not covering them. He said there is a TSB tech. service bulletin. This is a very dangerous defect that needs to be recalled.

Vehicle was parked at a parking spot and all of a sudden there was a loud “POP” and the rear glass started cracking!

Rear windshield shattered while parked in my drive way. Vehicle was not being driven. I have read several reports of this happening to other Acura rdx. I have contacted the dealership and Acura who have both told me I need to pay out of pocket to get this fixed. This is an Acura problem and Acura was unable to help. I should not be responsible for getting this fixed as vehicle was in driveway when this happened. I have been without a vehicle since this happened on 12/24. I'm very unsatisfied with Acura.

Rear windshield spontaneously shattered for the SECOND time in less than 3 years while it was parked in my driveway. There was no external impact or foreign objects that may have caused it. I called an Acura dealership immediately and they acknowledged that this is a known issue with Acura RDXs, but since there’s no recall and my warranty ended, they refused to help fix the issue. Went to a local auto shop and they also pointed out this has been a common issue with Acura RDXs. This is extremely dangerous and unsafe for drivers and passengers.

My rear windshield spontaneously shattered with me sitting in my driver's seat in a parking lot. I just started my car, put on my seat belt when I heard this loud noise and saw the rear windshield shattered. I found no object in my car that could have caused the problem like a rock.

I received a notice from Acura that the defective fuel pump replacement parts are now available and I should schedule the free repair with my dealership. When I called my Acura dealer (Chapman Acura) in Tucson, AZ I was told they did not have any parts. When I asked if they could let me know when they would be available, I was informed they did not know when any replacement parts would be available and that I should call back in a few weeks. Chapman Acura is the only Acura dealer in Tucson, AZ.

Rear window shattered while parked inside garage for no apparent reason

I have a 2020 Acura RDX. In December 2022 I came out to my car and when I opened the door the entire back windshield was shattered like a piece of ice. The glass broke off into little shards all over the back of the car. Also, leaving me to drive my young daughter in the freezing cold. I had it repaired which they were able to fox the glass but not get all the shards out of the car. Yesterday, December 25l4, 2025 I went to my car which had been sitting in the garage for two days and the same thing occurred. There is glass all over my car and my garage. I have a young child and dog who could step on or touch the shards.

When backing out of my driveway and turning wheel to the left I get two loud popping noises from behind me. Other online reports identify this as a problem with the sunroof. I also have instances where the sunroof does not fully close unless I repush the close button. Dealer rep suggested this is most likely due to an issue with the sunroof.

The rear window shattered on its own!!!. I had it replaced but not all the glass debris could be removed and it is trapped inside the trunk door (lift gate), unreachable, because the way the door was manufactured. The body shop says the entire lift gate needs to be replaced. How is it possible that the customers have the pay for the repairs of this manufacturing defect! Every time I open the lift gate I can hear a lot of glass moving inside. I will never be able to resale this car if this is not fixed. As it stands, many Acura RDX owner have this huge issue!!!!

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. The failure occurred the day after the vehicle was purchased. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was informed that the failure could have been caused by the contact driving in a wet environment. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer due to the sounds coming from the rotors. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact recorded the squeaking sound and played it for the dealer to hear. Since the dealer could not duplicate the noise, the vehicle was not repaired. One day last December it rained very hard for a couple of days. It about 6:30pm I got in my car to go to an appointment. There was water inside the cab, on the seats, inside of the windshield, in the dashboard and controls... and about 4 inches of water on the floor on both passenger and driver side. When I tried to start the car, all the electrical systems went haywire. Everything was blinking at me in the dashboard many different warnings and hazard lights. I took the car to the dealership for service. I was by service department told that drainage lines on the top where the sun visor is were clogged up and the water had backed up into the vehicle. This was no fault of my own. I have maintained this automobile with Acura only for 6 years, since I purchased it. This is serious, even
