Checked VIN for open recall and that number doesn't come up. My engine had to be replaced under factory warranty. The issue was the exact same as a current recall. I am concerned that Hyundai is not expanding the recall in an effort to downplay the issue. 2020 Elantra, 2.0 liter engine, stalling while driving. The tech found the piston rings were bad. I hope this will help others and Hyundai will be held accountable.

Subject: Abnormal Engine Failure – Hyundai Case #[XXX] I am filing this complaint regarding my Hyundai vehicle, which suffered catastrophic engine failure at approximately 150,000 miles. While the vehicle is outside the standard warranty, this type of failure is not consistent with normal use or expected durability. Hyundai Motor America has acknowledged receipt of my certified demand letter (Case #[XXX]) but has refused to provide coverage, instead directing me to pay for towing and diagnostic costs. This position is unacceptable given Hyundai’s history of abnormal engine defects and related settlements. Key points: • The failure is abnormal and consistent with systemic defects Hyundai has faced in prior litigation, including the Theta II and Lambda II engine defect class actions, which r

my engine started to make a horrible noise and the car won’t start anymore. Hyundai engines are known to burn oil and don’t light the low oil dash light until it is too late. Other Elantra trims have a recall for Hyundai to fix this yet mine does not.

11/10/2020 as I was driving I noticed a burning smell coming from the outside of the car I had my windows down I pulled over in a grocery store parking lot because I thought the smell was coming from someone else car only to find out it was mine I only had the car for a little over 6 months the car had 2552 miles on it I reported to Hyundai customer service only to be disappointed and given the runa round. I have a case number as well #17456723 I spoke with 2 managers and I was being told oh this manager handles this and then when I spoke with that manger I was told I had to speak to another manager, so I had the car towed to a dealership to only be told that they couldn't determine where the smell was coming from and don't worry about the smell on the outside of the car but they had perfo

transmission failed while driving & now doesn’t drive.

12/30/2025 ODI #11707780.0

Was driving car after a recent oil change. The oil change was performed early because the car was ticking and found oil to be low. Was going to take into dealer to be looked into but the car made a loud sound and stopped immediately and turned off. Luckily I was not driving too fast but had I been this could have posed a risk to myself, my passengers and other drivers. This complaint is consistent with prior engine failure complains of other Hyundai models. The Elantra has yet to be investigated. The maintenance lights that came on have only been for a high mount break light and low tire pressure. I did not get a low oil or oil change needed alert.

Hello, I have a 2020 Hyundai Elantra  [XXX] Vin.  The car has a major problem with the steering and suspension at speeds over 45 mph.  I am talking with [XXX] at this time after dialing [XXX] at Hyundai cust care (case #[XXX]).  She told me she is on the West Side location.  I asked where is that and she stated she is unable to let me know where.  The car does not hold the road and the suspension and steering is not working well at speeds of 45mph or faster.  This is a very dangerous situation and this year and model of Hyundai should be examined before someone loses control because of a defect made at Hyundai.  [XXX] stated she does not have a recall for this problem and I am at a complete loss for what to do.  She stated an appointment is not easily made until Dec 31st because of staffi

There is a grinding in my steering column, worse at lower speeds. I have spoke to Hyundai about this and several other shops and they said this is a common recall for Elantras and there is a barring that is in the recall. However, my VIN is not in this common recall. If this is a common recall on Elantras in my year range, wouldn't ALL Elantras have the option to have to corrected not just a select few? Per Hyundai dealership, They know exactly what it is and it should be on a recall list my VIN just showing it so they can not correct the problem. This started before I purchased the car from a friend and she was told the same thing when she checked into it before.

At approximately 16,000 ' 17,000 miles the car started having technical and electrical issues. There seemed to be an issue with the regular headlights and high beam setting. On the passenger side of the car, the glove box light, the overhead reading light, and the charging port for car adapters all stopped working. Shortly after those things went out in the vehicle, we were in an accident. We were driving from missouri to california and while driving on a 2 lane highway through kansas, the car unexplainably jolted to the left into the opposite direction lane of travel. I was going around 65 MPH when this happened. It seemed the car then accelerated on its own with the rpms going to the red. The steering wheel locked up after the car had jerked over. The steering wheel wouldn't budge. Anoth

12/20/2024 Crash ODI #11631902.0

On [XXX] at about 1:40 p.m. I was driving to work, and got distracted and had a front-end collision with a tree that was about 1-3 feet next to the side of the road. Extensive damage to the vehicle, and personal injuries occurred (mild concussion, stress fracture of left forearm, bruising/abrasion on ride side torso, sprained left thumb, and abrasions on head). Both the driver and passenger airbags did not deploy which contributed to me almost flying through the windshield. The emergency responders and tow truck operator were very surprised I wasn't in critical condition or dead and noted that the airbags failing was a serious issue and I was lucky. This was reported to the manufacturer and geico insurance on December 20th, and I am currently awaiting to hear back from both to get the insp

The head lights will not go into high beam mode. When the high beams are turned on, they initiate and then flicker back and forth from on and off and will not remain on. This happens simultaneously with both lights. It appears to be a electrically issue with the high beam setting and the current not remaining constant. I have taken it to two different shops and they said it is a common with this car and to check for a recall because they have had others that had the same issued recalled. My VIN does not show a recall. This issue can also ONLY be corrected by Hyundai. The places that I have taken it to said there is a special tool they have to use to even get to this component. I noticed this starting a few months ago and still has not corrected. I have not been able to use my hi
