When I shift my car into park and turn off the engine, an error message appears-"Shift to Park." Although the dashboard displays that the vehicle is in park, the radio and lights remain active & I am unable to turn off my car. To resolve this issue, I must restart the car and cycle through park, reverse, or neutral before attempting to shift back into park again. It often takes multiple attempts to eliminate the error message. My Traverse is currently at the dealership, where I have been informed that it needs a new shifter, which is not covered under warranty. These vehicle is garage kept, one owner & has less than 32k miles on it- I have also discovered that this issue is recognized by GM, with numerous complaints documented on this site alone. Given that this is a widespread problem a

Vechicle shudders during acceleration. Especially between 20 - 40 mph's. Checy dealership recommended transmission flush. Problem persists after transmission flush. Torque converter replacement suggested.
Wife was driving my kids to school this am. Driving up a slight hill on a speed limit 55 road vehicle started slowing down and wouldn’t accelerate. Stopped for a traffic light and it very slowly accelerated like a manual transmission stuck in a higher gear. Check engine light went on. I Was able to drive the traverse to the local gmc/Buick dealer which mentioned they were able to download some codes about possible transmission failure - super dangerous and very concerning for a ~1.5 year old vehicle with under 13,000 miles. This could be a major safety issue. Vehicle left at dealer, at this time no confirmed diagnosis but dealer acknowledged there’s a problem.
When I shift the vehicle to park to turn it off, I keep getting a warning / error message that I need to "shift to park"; even thought the gear shift is in park. I have to keep repeating the process multiple times in order to exit the vehicle. Most times I have to shift to park, sit and wait upwards of 5 minutes before turning the car off and it registering that it's in park.
When slowing down there is a grinding sound. Everytime i take it to the dealership they say they don't see anything.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, an alarm that indicated that the vehicle was not parked sounded, while the gear shifter was in park(P) and the engine was turned off. The contact stated that the failure had been persisting. An unknown dealer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000. The VIN was unavailable.
When shifting my vehicle into Park, the message “Shift to Park” appears even though the gear lever is already in the Park position. The vehicle does not always recognize that it is in Park, which prevents it from fully shutting off and poses a potential rollaway or battery drain risk. Often the radio/bluetooth components remain on. This issue creates a safety concern when parking, especially on inclines or in public areas and I live on a dangerous steep driveway. The problem was confirmed by Montgomery Chevrolet on October 28, 2024, after I paid $175 for a diagnostic that is not covered under warranty. They verified the “Shift to Park” malfunction and provided a repair estimate of $1,796.55. The vehicle and component are available for inspection upon request with videos and photos of the "
Vehicle will frequently state "Shift To Park" on dashboard when shifter is set to Park. Restarting engine and resetting to Park does not help. Horn and interior bells sound upon exiting the vehicle due to Shift To Park error. Safety issue concern, because I'm use to seeing the error message and ignore it, and what would happen if the shifter was not actually in Park. I took to GMC dealership. The issue as noted by mechanic at dealership is "position switch internally shorting out intermittently in shifter control assembly. Replaced shifter control assembly." I was charged $543.44 for parts and labor. My understanding is that certain Traverse years are known for this problem. I would like a refund from the manufacturer knowing this is a known manufacturer problem.
I have a shift to park issue and GM wants $800 to repair the problem.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that after reversing out of the driveway and shifting into drive(D), the accelerator pedal was depressed the vehicle made an abnormal sound, as if the transmission and engine had detached and fell onto the road. The contact had only driven forward approximately 30-feet when the rear wheels locked up. The contact shifted to park(P) and waited for a while. When the vehicle was shifted into drive(D), the contact was unable to accelerate above 10 MPH. The vehicle was driven in LIMP Mode to the local dealer. The contact stated that the check engine warning illuminated close by the dealer. The contact stated that the dealer was located approximately 1.9 miles away from the residence. The contact stated that the dealer diagnosed the v
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while shifting the transmission into park (P), the vehicle failed to park. The "Shift to Park" message was displayed. Additionally, the vehicle inadvertently and aggressively lunged backward while stopped. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the transmission was replaced and repairs were performed on the exhaust system; however, the failure recurred with the vehicle making an abnormal sound while driving. Additionally, the contact stated that her daughter suffered shortness of breath and dizziness while asleep inside the vehicle, which she later received medical attention for. Upon inspection, the contact noticed there was a leak in the exhaust system. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, and the contact was in

On Friday, 12/19/2025, I started by car and noticed that the infotainment display was taking longer than usual to boot up. It cycled through the Chevrolet splash screen 2 times until it ended on the "Update Failed. Returned to dealer." Due to this message on the infotainment display, there is no sound coming out of the speakers which results: *unable to hear turn signals when they are activated, *the front camera is no longer working, *unable to hear the parking assist when in reverse, *OnStar is no longer working, and *unable to hear front collision warnings. The display just cycles this message. I called around to several dealerships to see if I could get in that day to get this corrected. I was able to take it to a Chevrolet dealership on Tuesday, 12/23/2025, who diagnosed the pr
Shift to park. Unable to shut off car although car is in park
Front Manifold has cracked twice, bracket to exhaust system has broken twice. A few times when we put it in park the traverse will say it's not in park and we have to wiggle the gear shift.
The front passenger door does not open from the interior causing passenger to be trapped within. The only way to open passenger door is from the exterior. I took Traverse to GM dealership on September 30, 2025. GM dealership removed door panel, and stated the front door lock cable was not attached to door handle assembly. Traverse was repaired on October 1, 2025. The charge was $199.99 plus tax. I purchased this car used in July 2024.

As I was pulling out of my parking space on the street a car was coming toward me and the forward collision alert lights and sound went off as well as a terrible grinding started as if it was trying to brake as I was driving but not slowing me down. This has now happened 4 times. The first two times there were cars coming toward me but we were not in jeopardy of a collision. The grinding only stops once I remove my foot from the gas pedal. I took it to the dealership after the 2nd time and they checked the brakes and couldn’t recreate the issue and said everything looked good.
2022 Chevy Traverse LS with 5K miles only. Brakes have been a problem. The front brakes make grinding noise randomly. Sometimes I feel that car runs fine and few days, it make lot of grinding noise. Did a search on Internet and noticed that 2021 Traverse is having similar issue with brake parts (material). Disappointed that this vehicle is having issue.

Driving home tonight there was a car in front of me so my low beams were on. I saw a deer approaching from the right side of the roadway while at the same time dropping down into a small dip in the road and because the headlights are so low I lost sight of the deer as it was then in the shadows with no illumination because the headlights were now facing further downward. I had to turn my high beams on coming to a complete stop to then see the deer to avoid hitting it. This is very unsafe. Small hills and dips cause you to lose sight of the road up ahead at night.
The headlight position on the 2022 Traverse is horrible and a tremendous safety hazzard. Driving in rain, at night, the headlights being lower on the front end dramatically inhibits visibility. Unless you drive with the high beams on, you can't see at all. Last week I drove in falling snow at night and visibility was again inhibited due to the position of the headlights. But also, I had to keep pulling over to wipe the headlights off because snow off of the vehicles in front of me was covering the headlights due to them being so low on the vehicle. This was a safety hazzard in that the visibility was horrible, but I was also sitting on the side of the road, during a snowstorm, every time I had to get out to wipe them off. I did not have this issue with my 2018 Traverse
