This issue actually started in November of 2022. Driving down from the mountains the car started losing power. I took the car to the dealership on Monday. I was then advised that there was not an issue they could they could find. A few months later the car would not start. They replaced the battery and the issue was resolved (I don’t recall the exact month the battery was replaced). November 29,2025, I started my car and when I accelerated to about 30+ miles the car started to hesitate and it felt as if the car was going to stop. The check engine light came on and stayed on. I had over a half a tank of gas and temperature was around 28-30 degrees. I drove the car for about 2 miles to fill up to make the drive to my house. The distance is about 170 miles. Once the tank was full, I started

Engine will start shaking and making a helicopter sound while idling or driving under 45. Check engine light will begin to blink. While on the interstate, engine began to shake loudly making helicopter sound. Then it began to decelerate from 75 to 40 ON THE INTERSTATE before stalling out completely. I had to coast it into the pull off lane to avoid being hit. Spark plugs were replaced, but issue continues. Mechanic said it sounds like a fuel pump issue when I recorded it on video. When we restarted the car, engine light was not on so error codes could not be read.

Twice, this car has engaged emergency brakes with cars behind me and no cars in front of me. Several other times, the "Brake now" indicator has come on with no cars nearby.

Automatic brake system activated even though there were no cars in front of me or behind me. Car came to a complete stop which would have been a huge risk if someone was behind me. I have also had other instances where the auto brake would randomly activate and stop the car, but not as severe as a full stop on this one.

While driving the vehicle around 6:55PM at approximately 40 MPH while exiting the highway the Emergency breaking system fully engaged for no reason. There were no obstructions in the roadway, the vehicle was on center in the roadway and there were no vehicles in front when the braking occurred. After slowing the vehicle under full emergency braking to around 15 MPH the system stopped breaking and returned to normal. There were no warning lights, or system lights that activated before, during or after the emergency breaking. The lane departure warning visual indicator appeared on the dash, but the road departure mitigation indicator did not. This also occurred when the vehicle was a significant distance away from any solid lines in the roadway as the exit lane is oversized where the inci

Driving the vehicle between 60 and 65 MPH on a straight 4 lane divided highway with no oncoming traffic and no obstacles in the road, the emergency braking system triggered the audible and visual warnings and engaged emergency braking in the middle of the highway. There were no vehicles in front of the vehicle, there were no road hazards and the roadway was straight. Other vehicles needed to take evasive action to avoid a collision during the unnecessary braking and while regaining speed after the system deactivated. The vehicle has been inspected and no fault codes were found. This is the second occurrence of the issue. The manufacturer was notified after the first instance and was inspected at a Honda dealer. No action to repair or troubleshoot the issue has been taken by Honda followi

I have filed a complaint to the Honda Motor Company in Torrence, California. I have notifed Honda of a serious defect with our vehicles Collision Mitiagation Braking System. Here are the defects with our Honda Insight 2022 vehicle: 1) On three occasions while my wife Nino is driving on the 470 freeway in Colorado between Lone Tree and Littleton CO. Brake warning light comes on, light comes on randomly while driving 65 mph, then the Collision Mitiagation braking system comes on and slows the vehicle down to 15 mph while on the Freeway speed of 65 mph. While the brakes are engaging a forceful vacuum and pressure enters the cabin and that pressure goes to my wife's chest which casues pain. 2) 4th event was on August 15, 2023 while driving south on Kipling Ave in Littleton CO. I was driving 45 mph on a straight 4 lane undivided road with no cars in front of me or in the oncoming lanes. I was maintaining speed and the vehicle engaged the emergency braking system. The visual and audible alerts went off and with extreme braking force slowed the vehicle down to 10 mph with no obsticles in the roadway. There were no road hazards that would necessitate the system to engage. The trailing vehicles, at highway speed, had to swerve into oncoming traffic to avoid rear ending me and I was unable to override the system to maintain speed. I've taken the vehicle to a Honda dealer and they were unable to find any fault codes in the system.

Approximately 29-30 months after purchase multiple panels of the car are peeling with paint. Small knicks continue to bubble and get larger. Honda is not covering this problem because the milage is past 36,000 but this is clearly a manufacturing defect; the dealership did fix two panels for us (photos starting with a 1 and 2) free of charge but will not cover a third repair (photos starting with a 3). I think this vehicle is defective and should be completely repainted or exchanged.

I was driving down the freeway, around 4pm there wasn't much traffic and the nearest vehicle in front of me was abour 100 meters ahead of me when my 2022 Honda Insight activated the automatic emergency brakes and slowed down for about a second before dis-activating them. Since the vehicle ahead of me was not close at all, there should have been no reason for the automatic brakes to activate. I was lucky there was little traffic at the time and no car was immediately behind me as that could have caused a great accident.

The 2022 Honda Insight has an issue with "phantom touches" on the infotainment system. The system will frequently select buttons and change your screen, when no one is touching the panel. It will also freeze up, where you have no control over it. Why is this a safety hazard? Because when you're driving down the road and it takes your map away, you are constantly fighting the system trying to get your directions back, and in the process, your attention is taken off the road. When it flips radio stations on you randomly, and you keep having to try to flip it back. When it randomly pulls up your phone contact list, you have to immediately hit the home button so it doesn't dial someone. This nonsense happens A LOT, and has been ongoing since I bought the car a few years ago, especially w

Throughout short ownership of the vehicle, a "Charing System Problem" warning light has occurred when starting, and during operation, of the vehicle. The warning light occurs intermittently during start-ups and whilst driving. The warning light possibly indicates an error with the charging system of the vehicle that may potentially result in loss/reduction of power of the vehicle. This may result in an increase of a vehicle collision. The vehicle is currently under inspection by Honda of Oakland, and the service department states they cannot properly reproduce/identify/diagnose the issue at this time. See attachment for photo of first occurrence. Additional occurrences are documented via video and may be provided upon request.

My car was parked safely on my driveway. I turn on the car and all the lights came on including power loss failure, collision mitigation, etc. I had to tow it to a dealer where they claimed it was rodent damage causing an electrical failure on Monday, 9/19/22. The car was towed on 9/20/22. I was then told I was unable to claim any warranty. The dealer charged me $640.00 for the repair. They claim the wire harness was chewed on which caused the system failure. I ended up having to pay out of pocket instead of using my $500 insurance to cover the damages. (Insurance said it would likely raise my rates next if I continuously put a claim). I thought--one time incident, bad luck. The dealership refused to take photos of the chewed wires, but I was able to fight to receive some parts indicating

Radio/infotainment touchscreen often freezes up and has phantom inputs, which can exit navigation and change the audio source. This causes huge distraction to the driver. The frustrating thing about this is that it's an intermittent issue, so the service center can't replicate it when I bring it in. This has been an ongoing issue with many 3rd generation Insights, and I was told by the service center that Honda has an internal investigation going. I have brought my vehicle in to multiple service centers and none have been able to replicate or fix the issue.

April 17, 2024. Feds expands investigation into Honda’s automatic emergency braking system. “BRAKE” flashes on the dash. As shown in your article. Insight slows down for no reason. I’m a very cautious driver and around my surroundings. No accidents Not told to my dealer or manufacturer. What would they do? Keep me in the waiting room for hours. Then tell me there is nothing wrong. No prior messages before hand. I maintained my vehicle in perfect condition. 14k miles. 2 years old on May 1, 2024. Garaged. My vehicle has this happen all the time. Usually when traveling under 40 mph. In city driving. No vehicles are ahead of me. Thank you.

Experiencing a dead or faulty battery issue in my 2022 Honda Insight. I called the Honda dealership to see if I could charge the battery from the points noted in the owners manual. The service representative said yes. Charged the battery to 100% and proceeded directly to the dealership for service. During the drive to the dealership I experienced the dashboard lights and annunciation display with errors. TPMS, electric steering, brakes, traction control, and to see my dealer. “On my way”… During the repair process and extended waiting period of about 2 hours. It was initially determined the steering wheel was “not centered”, cocked to the left, and would need a wheel alignment. How much is that $179. You must have hit a curb or something.
