My wife was with my Aunt and driving at 70mph on PGBT highway and instant the check engine light come on and the car started smelling of burnt equipment and stalled. The cabin was filled with white smoke and the windows jammed as well. The car was stalled in the middle of the highway with traffic zooming past and severing to save us. The horn stopped working. This is a huge safety concern. In a busy intersection unable to warn other drivers not paying attention to the road since horn does not work. This started few days prior with only high tone working, but not low tone (which is very hard to hear from other vehicles since not very loud), then after couple of days no horn at all. Looking online this seems to be a known issue with multiple hyundai cars (venue, tucson, santa fe, elantra etc) and some of them apparently had had to get their horns replaced multiple times since they keep being replaced with defective horn units, yet it is for some reason not a recall yet. While driving uphill, the car lost power, beginning to spurt and stalling. Then the car was not able to accelerate while car kept spurting and stopping. It was a dangerous situation as this happened while we were driving, in the middle of the road, while going uphill. Thankfully it was at night and there were no cars behind us but if there was we would have clashed into it. Towed the vehicle to the dealership and was informed that the same year TUCSON came in the night before with similar problems. It appears that there is a pattern to this safety concern. Within the first year of purchase, my power train system has beeb throwing codes. I took it to the dealership where they assured me nothing was wrong. My fuel injectors then gave out. The dealership replaced them and told me “yes these things are faulty and we see it a lot”. After replacing it, they did not seal the fuel injectors, causing gas to gush out and set my car to smoke. I was ill from inhaling gas fumes for days. They took accountability and said that the injectors were defective in the vehicles and that they would once again fix it. At the end of May 2024 my car was diagnosed with a faulty fuel injector that caused sputtering and problems accelerating. I was driving on a busy freeway when my car began to shake and sputter and lose power. A check engine light came on when the car first started to shake and sputter. I was able to pull off the freeway but, in an area, where I was unfamiliar. I was able contact family nearby who assisted me in driving the car slowly to a Hyundai dealership about 15 miles away. This happened on a holiday weekend and I had to get a rental car as the dealership was unable to service the car for several days. My panoramic sunroof shattered in the middle of expressway and nobody has been able to help two pieces of my sunroof of shattered and haven’t had this car for more than 6months and dealership won’t help my insurance won’t cover it it’s impossible and expensive to repair. It has randomly stopped working, I wasnt in any accidents. One day it just stopped. This could easily cause an accident, if I was driving with kids and needed the extra warning. Or if I couldn't see.
On 10-11-24 the panoramic sunroof on our car exploded. We were driving at the time at approx 45mph, clear and 60° out, and we heard a loud bang and in looking around for the cause saw the sunroof looked like crackle glass. We closed the sunshade in case it fell on us, and within a minute it did just that. Had we not closed that shade we would have been showered with glass. We did not see any obstacles coming at us and there were no cars around close enough to throw up a rock. After calling our insurance company to start a claim I did some research online while waiting for the adjuster to call. I discovered the class action suit regarding the exploding sunroofs and realized that is what had just happened to us. I then spoke to Hyundai customer service and started an incident report.

While operating the vehicle, the engine shut down. Complete loss of power. Engine would restart, stall and then not restart. Vehicle immobile. Vehicle towed to dealership since could not be driven. Strong smell of gasoline.
System Failed: Shut off in traffic. Vehicle can be inspected upon request. Safety risk: Potential for collision. Input from Dealership: Dealerships error code/diagnostic code was P213800. Reset system and recharge battery. Warning lights came on at the same time as the car shut down. One month prior check engine light came on, but car was operating normally. Dealership ran diagnostic test which did not indicate any issues. The suggestion was to tighten the gas cap.

The car has been erratic in its performance since purchase. The car has a continuous issue with the suspension, electronic system, and brakes. I have reached out to Hyundai manufacturer on numerous occasion regarding the car and no one is addressing my concerns. The car drives so erratic and unpredictable that I am fearful that someone will be injured or worst. Attached is a photo of the entire system going offline, which occurs all the time, and because the whole care is computerized this poses a safety risk for me and others on the road. When the car goes offline, I no longer have control of the vehicle and all mechanical systems are down. Please help me to get this issue resolved before someone gets hurt. Vehicle randomly activated automatic emergency braking and the forward collision warning with no other vehicles in sight. The vehicle slammed on the brakes almost causing a trailing car to rear end our vehicle. This has happened 5 times with speeds between 40 and 80 mph over the past 4 weeks. Conditions were cloudy. Problem has not been reproduced by the dealorship. No inspections have occurred.
