driving on I495 in Alexandria Virginia, on 26-dec-2022 at 1746 hrs est, north bound, at 55 mph, I drove over a series if raised areas on the roadway and suddenly the steering wheel started shaking violently and then the entire jeep was shaking back and forth like it was going to come apart. i slowed down as much as I could and moved over to a more or less vacant lane. this action made NO difference at all, until the other traffic got out of our way as we slowed down (at rush hour) and then when we were at 35 mph the shaking stopped just as fast as it started. on the way home about 3 hours later, we hit some of the same raised strips (bumps) and had the same issue again at 45 mph. My research found "JEEP DEATH WOBBLE" as a possible failure point.
Heavy vibration in steering wheel when hit bumps at highway speeds. This started in Nov 2022 when the Jeep was 5 months old. The dealer replaced the steering damper under warranty. It happened again in the summer of 2023. The steering damper was replaced again. It continues to happen and is now at the dealer for the fifth time with the same issue. The dealership confirms the condition reported each time. They do not know how to fix it and suggest new tires as the Bridgestones that came on the vehicle may be causing this issue. No modifications were made to any of these components. It has the original suspension and tires that came with it when purchased new in June 2022.
When driving over 55 MPH and hitting a bump, the vehicle intensely and dangerously vibrates and nearly causes me to lose control.
I was driving when suddenly I got a message that said “service shifter” I got it 4 times flashing and suddenly I lost steering power, it got hard and couldn’t move the steering wheel and I almost crashed, this has happened many times and when I took it to the dealer ship they said “‘nothing was found” when clearly I have proof of the messages and I have witness”s that have been with me when it’s happened, twice I almost crashed. I’m scared to even drive the truck now.
When traveling around 35-40 mph and a bump or dip in the road (think manhole cover) is hit by either the left or right wheel an extreme wobble and vibration in the steering column occurs. This will last 5-15 seconds until it works itself out. Research on the internet indicates that this is a common problem called a “death wobble”. The concern is that this may cause loss of control resulting in crash. This is an unmodified jeep gladiator bought new at the dealership with all mopar parts. When speaking to the dealership they do not acknowledge that this is an known problem and state that they cannot reproduce the issue. Which is reproducible as I have done it. Since this is a widely reported issue on the internet I believe this to be a severe safety issue that needs to be fixed by jee
Driving on highway, steering shook aggressively. Had to slow down and pullover off the road. I was able to get back on road and drive again. This has happened before and dealership said it was fixed. It happened again about 6 months later. Vehicle is stock with no modifications.
The vehicle is factory stock with 30,000 miles on it. At highway speeds it experiences what is referred to as the "Jeep Death Wobble" - the vehicle and steering wheel shake violently until I reduce speed to below 50 mph. It is difficult to control and slowing rapidly on the highway is additionally dangerous. It is at a Jeep dealer, but they only want to change the steering dampner. This part is not a real fix - something is loose or not property aligned to cause the shaking. The dampner is a temporary fix that addresses the symptom, not the cause of the shaking. I feel Jeep is not adequately addressing the issue or taking it seriously.
Driving down the highway and the steering wheel locked up. When I started to slow down to stop the steering came back. This could have been a really bad problem if I was turning.

My 2022 Gladiator with only 2700 miles on it locked up at a stop light. Every light on the dash was blinking, and the wipers came on. I couldn’t move the shifter, or turn the Jeep back on. Hazard lights would not come on initially. Not being able to move the vehicle or turn on hazard lights on a busy 6 lane road was extremely scary. I have never had a vehicle do anything like this before. I had it towed to the dealership. I explained what happened and they had never heard of this before. I have read of it happening on social sites and forums. I feel uncomfortable driving it even if they repair it. I bought this vehicle less than 60 days ago as of this message.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Gladiator. The contact stated that while driving 20-25 MPH, the instrument panel became inoperable. There were no warning lights illuminated. Upon research, the contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000 (Electrical System). The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer informed the contact that parts were on back order, but the odometer had to be ordered and recalibrated to prevent tampering. The contact checked the fuses, and the fuses were in good condition. The manufacturer was contacted, but there was a language barrier. The failure mileage was approximately 36,600.
On 10/15/2025, I left work and started my 2022 Jeep Gladiator. The Instrument Control Panel was blank. I researched to see if it was something I could do. I checked the F15 and F41 fuses and all connections to the battery. During my research, I noticed there was a recall for this exact problem. I input my VIN to find out that my Gladiator was not involved. The EXACT same problem as the recall. Why not mine? I'm currently using my GPS to monitor my speed on my phone. I have no other warnings or information to know when I'm driving; being a HUGE SAFETY ISSUE!
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Gladiator. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 5 MPH, the vehicle completely lost battery charge and suddenly stopped, causing the rear wheels to seize. Additionally, the rear doors failed to unlock. The contact was able to get in and out of the vehicle through the front doors. No warning light indicating that the battery charge was low had illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who was unable to determine why the rear doors failed to open. The contact stated that after the dealer replaced the battery, the rear doors opened as needed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the repair was not covered under warranty. The failure mileage was 38,450.

The camshaft went out, along with the rocker arms, cam phasers, there is a box on the passenger side wheel well that goes out and will not allow the truck to shift or go into park. There is now something wrong with the automatic start/stop as the light continues to be on in the dash. Things started to go out as soon as the warranty expired… The truck has 80kmi. We fix one problem only for more to pop up. We purchased the jeep brand new and everything since it has had one problem after another.
The drivetrain will stop the vehicle from moving it is at a dealership in st Augustine fl right now and is waiting for a diagnosis. This is a safety risk because it does This while traveling. also will not go into parkand will not start.
On Sept 23, the vehicle went into the dealership service department to replace an apparent faulty transmission oil pan gasket, and today October 14, my Gladiator had to be towed to the dealership because the problem was not resolved, causing the check engine light to come on and additional loss of transmission fluid, apparently coming from the main seal.

On 10/29/2023 I was driving down the road and I turned on my windshield defrost and my windshield just starting cracking. The crack is about 8-9 inches long upon initial crack and it is continuing to spread.

My vehicle has just under 45,000. While driving at freeway speeds I hit a small bump in the road. The vehicle front end wobbled until I slowed back down under 50 mph. This happened 3 times on the same trip. I immediately took it in to a dealer for repair. It is known as a "Death Wobble". The problem was a steering damper had failed. There are other Jeep models that have the same designed front end and have active TSBS for this exact issue. When searching Jeep forums online it is widely considered a problem for the Jeep Gladiator.

When you place the vehicle in park it rolls which is very dangerous. You go to step out of the vehicle and it is rolling, yikes!! Can't reach anyone at Jeep.
