2022 Toyota Camry owner complaints

Windshield cracked out of nowhere. No rock or physical impact happened. I cannot feel the windshield cracks outside or inside. It cracked in 20F weather in the morning.

While driving down a two lane highway at approximately 60mph the sunroof suddenly exploded sounding like a gunshot.

The speed of the windshield wipers is drastically slower than any other vehicle that I have ever driven, and I have no visibility during heavy rain. It is extremely dangerous for long Southeast Texas commutes.

My wife was on the interstate and was caught in a storm. She turned on the wipers and slowed down to a crawl. The wipers barely worked in a thunderstorm and they were on high. She couldn't see anything and I had to pull off because visibility was zero. The wipers were very slow on high and it can cause a serious accident especially on a interstate and ur in traffic and going speed limit. The car was just bought brand new and only in my possession and 2 months. Be careful out there.

While driving on the Highway with no vehicles in sight my sunroof glass shattered falling in on my wife cutting her.

This is a rental from Enterprise. I was on the highway driving. I had been using the adaptive cruise control, but I braked because there was traffic ahead. I was slowing down reasonably with the flow of traffic and all of a sudden the auto brake went on and slammed the car to a full stop! The pick up truck behind me had to slam his brakes and swerve and came within inches of plowing into me. The jolt threw me forward and terrified me. It was as if I wasn't driving the car- the car did it. So dangerous!!! I called Toyota and they filed a report and said someone would call me. And I called enterprise and they are coming to get the car from me. Absolutely terrifying. Thank goodness no one got hurt or worse.

It is UNKNOWN what was actually causing this, this is my assessment from how my car handled. I was ready to turn from a shopping center lot onto a road with 2 lanes of traffic, both lanes going the same direction. The traffic was heavy but a car left a gap for me to pull out into the lane closest to me. I stepped on the gas but I believe my car detected the cars in the far lane and applied the brakes? limited control of my acceleration? to prevent me from “striking a vehicle in the next lane broadside”. The menu display for stereo does not work. There is a recall on the 12.5 inch display which a representative from Toyota stated it could cause the menu options and stereo not to work, but when I took my vehicle to be serviced, it was not part of the recall. Someone needs to look into Toyota about this situation.

Since the day this brand new car rolled off of the lot, I noticed an issue with the Android Auto usage via the infotainment system. Roughly between 5 and 15 times throughout a 30 minute drive the map will glitch and freeze and so will any music being streamed via android auto. This happens no matter which phone or cable is connected. This is EXTREMELY annoying and distracting to me when driving and frankly inexcusable for a brand new 2022 car with 0 miles on it that i bought 8 months ago and it still does this to this day. The auxillary for the music has a short in it and Everytime a bump is hit it knocks it loose and it shuts off the whole thing. The screen and maps and music. The screen also freezes and my maps and route stopped working. I had to pull off the road to turn my car off to reset it. I have to do this multiple times if I'm using my screen for directions/maps. It's frustrating and annoying when u expect a brand new vehicle to work properly. It started a few weeks after I took it off the dealership. It also wouldn't connect to Bluetooth very well that's why I had to use the cord. Drove a new 2022 Toyota Camry LE with 15 miles. Notified dealer that several safety and infotainment systems were non operational. Vehicle had multiple warning light related to these systems. Notably, the Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assistance, Parking Collision Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Warning were all stated to be non-operational by the vehicle's dashboard. Several warning lights were illuminated. Furthermore, the radio and infotainment system was non-operational, which also means that the rear backup camera was non-operational. The technician at the issuing dealer stated that the "PIL" had to be replaced.

Uncontrollable Sudden Acceleration 3 times while I drove the car, it suddenly and rapidly accelerated. Eventually, the car crashed and was totaled. The first time was 3/31/25 when my wife and I went to the car wash. I turned into a restaurant’s parking lot, found a spot and slowly drove into the lot, I eased off the gas pedal and gently applying the brake as the lot has a slight downward slope. When I reach the chunk (the parking block), I added more force to the brake, but I felt the brake pedal just sank, and the car lurched ahead, jumped over the chunk, and stopped at the curb which startled me. After I recovered, I put the car in reverse to return it to the right position (back up from the overrun chunk), everything seemed back to normal condition after that. Luckily, all occupants were unhurt, airbag was not deployed.
