On [XXX] at [XXX], my 2022 Corolla Cross popped up with the message “Engine Maintence Required Visit Your Dealer.” I sat on the phone with Toyota for an hour and a half scheduling and asking for help. I got my car in July of 2024, I only had driven my car for a MONTH when this happened. It was a certified GOLD used toyota vehicle. I went to Lia Toyota of Northampton at 9:00am for my appointment and they could not get me a diagnosis until Monday morning. I drove 100 miles across the state to Ira Toyota of Danvers to get my car looked at. I was in the waiting room for six hours waiting to hear updates— I didn’t get one until two and a half hours of waiting. They said it was a COOLANT BIPASS VALVE issue. And it was a serious one. This was a SERIOUS danger to me and my car. I had to driv

This vehicle stalls intermittently when it comes to a full stop. This problem still exists and last occurred on June 27, 2022. The vehicle has an intermittent issue (unpredictable with months, or minutes in between). Weather and road conditions have varied. Location has varied as well. Dates of occurrence are February 13, 2022; March 12, 2022 (occurred twice within a 20-minute time span); and June 27. The vehicle stalls when it comes to a full stop (on all four occasions, this has occurred at a red light). The check engine light and the power steering light come on, as well as a message on the dashboard, stating, "Engine Stopped. Steering Power Low," "Engine Stopped. Press Break Firmly to Restart," and "Press Break Firmly to Restart Engine. ----- to start." During this time, a continuous *

My brand new 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross has 2 issues: 1) The 'pre-collision' feature brakes when I don't need it to. I told Toyota that I've almost got into car accidents but they said they 'can't turn it off'. 2) There is paint peeling from my front bumper for no reason. Brian Kessler at Marietta Toyota said “it's likely because when I ordered my car in 'white', the bumper was black, so they painted it without primer”. They keep telling me that "they'll call me regarding this issue", but they haven't. This vehicle's pre-collision system is over-sensitive as it continues to attempt to prevent an accident by taking control of the vehicle when I don't need/want it to. It suddenly brakes when I need to continue in motion to avoid a particular hazard, potentially causing an accident. I’ve be

I was involved in a frontal collision in which I rear-ended another vehicle. The impact was significant enough to cause a fractured sternum due to the seat belt restraint. However, the front airbags did not deploy. I had a passenger in the vehicle, and we were both wearing our seatbelts at the time of the crash. I am concerned that the airbags failed to deploy despite the severity of the impact and the resulting injury. I believe this may indicate a defect in the airbag system or the airbag control unit (ACU). I am submitting this report to ensure the issue is investigated and to help prevent potential harm to other drivers. After the collision the car was not drivable due to an airbag error message on the dash of the vehicle. It had to be towed away from the scene and will not be repair
I am writing to complain about a serious safety defect in my 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross (VIN [XXX] ). On August 11, 2023, I recently received a letter from Toyota stating that the passenger airbag in my car may not deploy as designed in the event of a crash. This is a serious safety defect, and I am concerned about the safety of my car. I have owned my Corolla Cross for in excess of a year, and I have never been in an accident. However, I am a father with two young children, and I use my car every day to take them to school and activities. I am worried about the possibility of being in a car accident, and I do not want my children to be injured because of a defect in my car. I understand that Toyota is offering to fix the airbag for free. However, I am not comfortable with having a car th
Got into a collision and the air bags did not deploy when they should have. There was a recall 2 weeks prior to the accident but no notification. This was a safety risk in the accident when the air bags did not deploy

I had this issue 2 times so far, and I thought I was crazy since it hasn't happened since, but I noticed another report of someone else having the exact same issue. This prompted me to include my own report, as this could be a fatal flaw that needs review immediately. While I was pulling out into traffic from a stop sign to cross multiple lanes, my engine on my 2022 Corolla Cross XLE shut off without any warning. I was stopped at the stop sign, which the engine shut off as it's designed to. Upon releasing the brake, the engine started and I accelerated to cross the lanes to get into the left turning lane. As I accelerated, the engine shut off without any intervention from my part. There were no warnings on the dash, beeps, or error messages. I pressed the accelerator multiple times wit
under normal driving conditions on a state highway the Engine Malfunction error displayed on my Multi-Information Display. The error indicated that I find a dealership and have the car inspected. The error would go off then come back during acceleration. after two days at the local Toyota Dealership I was told the Coolant Bypass Valve was stuck in the closed position and it would have caused stalling during acceleration and engine overheating at normal speeds. the dealership replaced the valve and flushed the 100K coolant at my expense of over $800. The issue reappeared moments after I took delivery of the repaired vehicle as I was accelerating onto the highway from their parking lot. this is a well known issue that affects 2019-2023 Camry and RAv4 models and I believe the 2022 Co

Car is 76000 miles , I just purchased the vehicle however coolant bypass valve decide to make car say Engine maintenance require even after having it serviced for an oil change. After I replaced the valve , now the pop up Engine maintenance light did not pop up after that. That was the problem .
Bypass coolant valve for the engine needed replacement, multiple other Toyotas within the year range needed the same fix right after warranty ended at a specific mileage. Was told my engine would fail if not addressed or fixed.
I was stopped at a red light in a very light rain with intermittent wipers going. Engine stopped as it does when stopped. When light turned green and I pressed the gas, nothing happened. Car rolled forward but due to grade not engine. Display message said something like Engine stopped. Press brake firmly. That’s all I remember. There was a car behind me honking loudly and frequently. I sat there for a minute or two trying to get the engine going again. Y moving the shifter. I was able to take the car in and out of park multiple times, which I should not have been able to do if the engine was off, so the engine was not off. I think I must have finally hit the engine start switch but I don’t remember how many time. Once the engine started again the car without further problem.
steering 2 complaints shown
Vehicle has cut off multiple times at stoplight, stop sign, etc. Error message flashes on instrument panel “ENGINE STOPPED STEERING POWER LOW”. Most recently this week 5 times in one day (6 times during the week). Each time has been during rain with windshield wipers running. Must put car in park and restart engine.
The phone charger stopped working. During driving, the dashboard lights up and then break failed and steering became out of control. As a result, car crushed to another car and went to different lane and hit another car. All airbags deployed. Car is total loss. Police was at the scene. All drivers have minor injuries. Reported the issue to the insurance.

lighting 1 complaint shown
I am concerned with the visibility of my car in the night/dark. When driving my car in the night I get flashed by divers behind me. I am almost completely sure it is because the rear lights are so small and dim. This car was not available for a test drive and often isn’t so how is a potential buyer to know of this issue unless it is pointed out? All of the demonstration videos are of the highest model which comes with the adequate lighting. The only way to have an adequately visible Corolla Cross (from behind) is to upgrade to the highest model. I worry that I am at a higher risk from other drivers of being rear ended when driving at night/on dimly lit streets.

My SUV has been jerking really bad when I accelerate it almost feels like whiplash. Every time I take it to the dealer they tell me there's nothing wrong with it. It makes this knocking sound coming from the engine and when I accelerate it doesn't pick up speed.
