2022 Volkswagen Taos SE 1.5T (DNKA engine, <60,000 miles, <5 years old) developed internal coolant leak from cylinder head gasket. On 11/03/2025 Smith Volkswagen, Wilmington, DE (RO 692953/1) performed coolant system pressure test and confirmed leak coming from cylinder head gasket area at rear of engine below turbo (exactly as shown in Figures 1 & 2 of VW TSB 15-23-01). My car suddenly shuts off even while in motion. When this happens I have to brake, put the car in Parking, press the off button, press it again to turn the car on, put the car on Drive, and the I can keep going. This is extremely dangerous, and have almost been hit several times. I don’t feel safe driving my car anymore. I brought my car to the VW dealer and they said there is nothing wrong with the car.

There is a major lag in throttle response after slowing then attempting to speed back up. For example, a car in front of me turns right at an intersection while in travel so I slow down. After stepping on the accelerator to speed back up, it can take 5-7 seconds before there is any response. At times it’s long enough that traffic behind me starts honking.

I am reporting a repeated safety-related defect involving exhaust intrusion into the cabin of my 2022 Volkswagen Taos. The vehicle experienced loss of power, coolant loss, and engine warning indicators, and was serviced twice by Volkswagen Southtowne in Sandy, Utah. First Incident – Vehicle Returned as “Safe to Drive” During the first repair visit, the dealer diagnosed issues involving the manifold/exhaust area, head gasket, coolant system, and catalytic converter. After keeping the vehicle for an extended period, the dealership informed me the vehicle was “safe to drive,” although the repair was not fully completed. I relied on this representation. After the vehicle was returned to me, I began experiencing significant physical symptoms only while driving the vehicle, including nausea,

The car stalls and cannot propel itself forward. Two dealerships have unsuccessfully attempted to replace and fix the fuel injection pump, sensors and harnesses. The car has been to Palmetto 57 Volkswagen (Miami, FL) and Jim Ellis Volkswagen (Kennesaw, GA) dealer service centers 5 times since the car was purchased on October 7, 2023. Today is December 1, 2023. I've been told three times that the engineers at the VW National Headquarters have been informed of the problem and are working on fix. The car is still at the Palmetto 57 service center and cannot be driven due to lack of a repair solution.

I purchased a 2022 Volkswagen Taos from TOM‘s VW, Union, New Jersey on Sep 23, 2023. At the time of purchase, the vehicle had approximately 19000 miles. Unfortunately, I experienced the engine light illuminating after starting the car at the end of October 2024. I brought this issue to Tom's VW's attention in Nov, 2024 - 1) I made an appointment with Tom's VW, and the first time I went to the dealership was on Nov 2, 2024. Since then, we have come to Tom's VW dealership to fix the same issue at least 6 times, the latest one was on May 15, 2025. 2) The car has been kept in the dealership's shop since it was drop off at the dealership on May 15, 2025. It's still kept in the dealership's shop now. 3) Several times we were told the problem was resolved and we could pick up the car, but the

Head gasket leak. Went from zero issues with coolant whatsoever to the car smelling like it was burning after being turned on and being deemed unsafe to drive requiring a tow to the dealership for repair. Once there, head gasket replacement deemed necessary. Seems to have been a very an abrupt change. Luckily in this instance the car was parked and did not actually catch fire but I am concerned for my safety if this would have happened while the vehicle was in motion.

I have taken my Taos in for 1 year / work 10,000 mile inspection. I was told my breaks are worn and I should monitor them. This should not be happening when the car is one year old with less than 10,000 miles. I believe inferior brakes were designed for the car. This seems to be major complaint for many of us who purchased the car in the first year. The ECU light that has come on 3 times over the year is a problem. No known diagnosis for the problem.

Periodically the MIB infotainment screen blacks out; this in turn places a warning error in the driver center console screen. While this occurs, nothing else can be accessed or displayed in the center console screen. This creates a potentially dangerous situation as it can lead to confusion on a variety of things (example: Is cruise control still engaged?). It can also deprive the driver of key safety information (example: If one or more tires experiences a loss of pressure, the driver will not be warned). Furthermore, if the driver is reliant on Navigation and is driving under stressful and adverse weather conditions, this could create panic and result in a collision. VW has no fix for the issue currently and is releasing the vehicle back to me, even though I have stated my safety

MIB infotainment system blanks out, simultaneously sending error code to driver center console rendering it useless. Key functions are therefore inoperable or inaccessible, including (but not limited to) TPMS monitoring / alert warning, rear view camera display, and potentially a host of other safety and advanced driver assist functions.

Rear brake pads were worn to the metal at 20,000 miles. Front brakes were perfect. Had NTB look at them after VW told me my brakes were squeaky because of the weather. NTB agreed this was not normal for a brand new car. They said the front pads would be worn as well if it were because of driving behaviors. I contacted VW and informed them a lot of VW Taos owners are having this issue. They did nothing.

Rear Brake and Rotors- At about 14,500 miles the vehicle started making this screeching noise. Rear brake pads and rotors wearing out prematurely. There is no indication through the health reports sent by VW or Carfax (VW affiliated) that is nothing wrong (all healthy). I took to dealership. The customer service rep at Rudolph VW in El Paso, TX told me that "the front brakes were great and the rear brakes were at about 6/10 and to come back in a few months before the 20,000 miles warranty ran out. That VW was aware about the supplier but could not do anything at this point". This is a safety issue and its a Warranty covered issue as is under 20,000 miles. I never had a vehicle with this issue. I fear for my life. I am at about 16,500. I don't know I f am going to make it to 20,000. Anot
