2023 Genesis GV80 owner complaints

The Adaptive Cruise Control will slow the car down or try to bring it to a stop from speed on a highway for no reason, with no other vehicle in close proximity. Sometimes it occurs on a curve when the car seems to react to a guard rail or snow bank. Very often it is on a long straight stretch of road with no one in sight. Car just aggressively decelerates. The only action is to press the accelerator or shut the cruise control off in order to overcome the problem. Clearly this puts vehicle occupants at risk because the car creates a risky driving situation on highways. Have brought it to a dealer where the service manager acknowledged that this is an issue with this vehicle that others have complained about, but Genesis has not addressed. The vehicle experienced a failure of the High Pressure Fuel Crossover Pipe, a safety defect subject to NHTSA Recall 26V-229 (Manufacturer Campaign 033G). While operating the vehicle over 200 miles from home, a strong odor of raw fuel was detected inside and outside the vehicle. The evaporator core leaks 1234yf in the cabin rendering the air conditioning useless. During times of higher humidity, the air conditioner is needed for defogging the windows of the vehicle. The inability to do so severely limits visibility.

Forward collision warning and active assist are practically inoperable. The vehicle doesn't detect the car in front of it and doesn't show it on display. The operation doesn't match the described function in the owner's manual. After trying to work with Genesis Corporate office and dealer, I could replicate the problem during the test drive that was conducted after dealer performed extensive diagnostics together with Genesis tech support. System didn't return any fault codes. Dealer documented the issue in the service record. During the test drive, the WARNING system finally activated when collision would have been imminent only prevented from the accident by the technician driving by slamming on the brakes. The newly purchased vehicle experienced a seat malfunction, leading to its return the next day. The seat was unresponsive, failing to adjust forward or backward when entering or exiting the vehicle. Upon inspection by the service department, the problem was attributed to the seat module. Despite replacing the seat module twice, the issue persists. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer's service department, and attempts to rectify it with seat module replacements have been unsuccessful so far. No other inspections by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives have taken place. No warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms were present before the failure occurred. I was driving and the car just stopped in the middle of the road. I had to turn the car off and restart. Once I did the car wouldn’t get any speed but the RPM would go up to 4 or 5. I finally got the car home and had it towed the next morning. After 9 days in the shop, I was advised it needed a new fuel pump but no ETA on when the car will be repaired.

I feel there is a flaw in mechanical and electrical. There is no emergency release from the outside of vehicle to get to the battery. The battery went dead I had to crawl from the front seat.(locks were dead as battery was dead) all the way to the rear hatch to release the lever to open the hatch to get to the battery. There were no outside mechanisms to get to the battery once the battery is dead. How is this safe.

My keys were also locked in the vehicle. Neither the driver nor passenger door thumbprint sensors responded. For approximately 20 minutes, I was unable to unlock the car while my daughter was trapped inside crying and screaming. I was forced to call the police and emergency services. The situation was only resolved when I calmed my daughter enough to press the unlock button from inside, just before the ambulance arrived. Police responded to the scene and a report was made. This is the second time this defect has occurred. A nearly identical incident happened previously when my daughter was 2 years old, though I did not

On [XXX], the GV80 experienced a complete electrical system failure (dashboard lights began flashing and eventually went black, display screen went black, steering wheel locked and brakes were hard to engage), all while my wife was driving on a major highway in rush hour traffic. The dealership claims this electrical system failure was caused by improper battery cable hookup, but this is incorrect. I have time stamped photographs showing a wiring harness that was already burned before any battery cables were connected. I also have documentation proving when the tow truck was dispatched to the vehicle’s location. Car suddenly stops while driving. Usually when stop at a red light, stop sign, or yield sign where I have to accelerate. Transmission turns to P itself and hear a grinding noise.

At approximately 68k miles, I observed hesitation when pulling away from a stop in our 2023 GV80 2.5t AWD Prestige. At 71,300 miles, we observed an increasing howling noise from the rear of the vehicle, primarily at coasting, with various tones emitted during application and release of the accelerator pedal. The rear differential fluid was drained for inspection, and there were metal shavings accumulated on the drain magnet, discolored (metallic shavings) fluid, and visible shiny metal flakes in the drained fluid. The differential is close to total failure on this vehicle. Hyundai has issued a TSB, so it is known, but they are not recalling this extreme safety hazard that has been reported for several years across many owners. I am submitting this complaint regarding the handling of a safety recall on my 2023 Genesis GV80. During an approximately seven-week service visit at an authorized Genesis dealership, I was verbally informed that the applicable safety recall had been completed. Based on my subsequent interactions, Genesis Corporate also appeared to believe the recall had been performed. However, the recall was not documented on my repair order and was ultimately completed later by a different authorized Genesis dealership (Genesis of Weatherford). I am concerned that a safety recall had been verbally represented as completed when it had not actually been performed, resulting in my vehicle being returned to me with an outstanding safety recall still open. Due to bad deals, one of our front lights was filled with water. Causing multiple sensors to go off, like our lane departure and camera features. Car had 5 warnings on dash

The headlight assemblies on both the right and left side have water pooling which severely dims nighttime visibility and creates an immediate risk of total headlight failure while driving at highway speeds. The Forward Collision Avoidance safety sensors have begun flashing or malfunctioning due to the excessive moisture.

There is a golf ball size indentation on the black border of the windshield with 6-18-33" cracks extending to the mirror with glass shards covering the dash. There was not other vehicles or rock at the incident. We have a friend who has a 2022 GV 80 and has had three rock hit her windshield to chip and that have caused cracks the entire width of the windshield. The car was purchased on 9/5 with approximately 700 miles.

The front Windshield has an indentation the size of a golf ball below the seal and above the hood and cracks that extend 12- 18 " beyond the golf ball size indentation. There was no other vehicle, no rock, traveling below the speed limit at 55 on a Friday afternoon on Route 12 from Wimberly, Texas.

When I was driving my 2023 GV 80, I was applying pressure onto the gas pedal and the car suddenly started jerking. The car was not accelerating then the check engine sign came on and then the car completely turned off. Then I restarted the car and it was moving really slow. Similar incident happened few other times and luckily I was able to pull over to the parking lot after turning on the hazard light. I drove my car over to the dealership and dropped it off. I am afraid that someone is going to get killed in an accident while they're driving on the highway or crossing the streets
