2024 Acura MDX owner complaints

I purchased my new vehicle (2024 Acura MDX) in September 2024. On December 20, 2024, my SUV was on but in the parked position when the lights on the dashboard started flashing. I had the suv towed to Paragon Acura, where I was informed that the PCM had internal failure due to a circuit shortage. There were not any vehicle issues prior to the issues on December 20.

AC / DEFROSTER / HVAC I am reporting a potential safety and health defect involving the HVAC system in my 2024 Acura MDX. When operating the air conditioning or the front windshield defroster, a strong musty odor enters the cabin. The dealer informed me that resolving the odor requires an EVAP core cleaning, replacement of the cabin filter, and the use of a disinfectant that will be circulated throughout the ventilation system to kill mold, mildew, and other contaminants. I was told this is the “first step” in addressing the issue and that the estimated cost is $440 out of pocket. This is extremely concerning because the presence of mold or bacterial contamination inside the HVAC evaporator and ventilation system affects the air my children and I breathe inside the vehicle. Front sunroof panel spontaneously exploded while driving on the interstate highway. No impacts or other things touched the sunroof. Vehicles behind had to avoid large portions of the sunroof panel. Flying glass made it dangerous to quickly leave the highway. This is a 2024 mdx with less than 30,000 miles. Never been in an accident before.

Heard a loud “pop” while sitting in parked car. Radio volume spiked up and the passenger side of windshield was shattered. Clear defect in installation.

Acura MDX Sunroof Explosion striking my wife face and glass going into my kids 5 and 3 car seats. The dealer nor American Honda are not taking accountability for it.

Electrical, brake and car acceleration problems.

The start/stop switch stalls the vehicle and will not restart after several tries for up to 5 minutes. We get a message during this time to "continue to drive, depress brake pedal and push switch" and even after then it still will not start for several tries. This has happened several times. One time my wife was on a heavily traveled two lane farm road at a four-way stop and it did it and was almost hit by 18 wheelers trying to navigate around her. This was not only a safety issue for her but also those trying to get around her with all the traffic coming in all direction. Took back to the dealer but it did not do it while they tried to recreate the issue. No warnings prior to the issue of dying and not re-starting. This was the latest occurrence, it had happened a couple of times bef

I was lightly stepped on the gas coming off a complete stop with no cars in front of me. The automatic breaking came on hard and a sensor flashed to BRAKE as if I was going to hit someone but there was nobody in front of me. The sensor alert system was turned off 15min prior as I had gone through a car wash. This is the first time this has happened but unknown why. Had there been a car behind me, I may have been hit.

Vehicle will suddenly shut the engine off and shift into park, even when the auto engine shut off is not active. Typically happens when stopped at a stop light. You will feel the engine shut off, and the car shift into park. It is very scary and unsafe. It has also caused the vehicle to shut off and shift into neutral while it was moving, and the vehicle gave a transmission warning. It sounds very similar to NHTSA Recall 25v-031, however, my vehicle was not included in the recall as it is not a Type S. I took it to the dealership and they said that Acura has opened an investigation due to the number of complaints, but there is no solution yet. Brake Pedal Sinking to Floor While Stopped - While stopped at a traffic light or in stop-and-go traffic, the brake pedal intermittently sinks all the way to the floor despite steady pressure being applied. This issue occurs sporadically, making it difficult for the dealership to consistently replicate during service visits, but it has happened multiple times. Critically, once the pedal sinks, it does not return to its normal position on its own. I am forced to manually pull it back using my foot, which is both dangerous and unacceptable in a modern vehicle. Driving to work, about to merge onto the highway when my car beeped at me and several warning messages appeared on my dashboard: "Road departure mitigation system problem. See your dealer.; Low speed braking control problem. See your dealer.; Electric power steering system problem. Steering assist not available. Do not drive.; Collision mitigation braking system problem. See your dealer." Simultaneously, the steering wheel became extremely hard to turn and the car would barely move, even when applying pressure to the gas pedal. I was, very slowly, able to turn my car off of the main road, onto a side street, and eventually into a parking lot. In the parking lot, I turned the car on and off several times but the warning messages returned and the steering wheel was almost impossible to mo

While driving, the power steering in my car failed. I was unable to turn the steering wheel beyond 0.5” or so. Luckily, I was driving only 25mph on an empty road, so I was able to take my time and pull over. But had I been on the highway, this would have been a fatal crash for my wife, 2 year old, one 5 month old, who were in the car. When the power steering failed, I had 10+ failure messages flash on the screen (full list available on request), along with multiple error lights. The car is with Rallye Acura in Roslyn, NY, who has been unable to replicate the failure. They have stated the car is fine to drive. However, we are very shaken and afraid to get in the car until the root cause is identified, and a solution is offered.

When cruising or coming off a stop, my car is incapable of accelerating promptly if I am trying to get out of the way or even merge into oncoming traffic on a highway. There is a severe acceleration delay perhaps with the throttle body. I have seen online complaints but the dealership said there has to be an actual recall number to correct this. My car has been in several times to fix this. A computer reset did not work. My car is one year old.

The contact owns a 2024 Acura MDX. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH a loud booming noise occurred as the glass sunroof exploded without impact. During the incident shards of glass fell into the vehicle's cabin making contact with both the driver and the second-row passenger. The son, who was seated in the second-row passenger seat sustained a laceration on the left arm which did not require medical treatment. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 8,000.

Unknown. Constant creaking and rubbing sound when turning wheel and tires. Acura refuses to look into it more. Not a normal sound for a car less than two years old. Continues to happen everyday since two eeeks after I bought car. Have taken it to Acura multiple times for weeks at a time

Cruise control does not hold speed during transition from downhill coast to uphill acceleration. If set at 70mph on an interstate and car goes down a hill, coasting may slow to 68. When uphill is immediately encountered, speed drops to 64-65mph before finally accelerating to 70. Many trucks get very close and some honk because of the slowdown. Some road rage has been received. Also, throttle lags 0.5-1.0 seconds when transitioning from complete stop. Rear end collision has almost occurred when other drivers proceed to move forward and this car doesn’t move.
