I am reporting repeated unintended automatic emergency braking in my 2024 Acura ZDX. The vehicle was leased new on April 9, 2025 and currently has approximately 9,500 miles. The system involved appears to be the Forward Collision Warning/Automatic Emergency Braking system and related braking controls. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. On September 14, 2026, while driving at less than 25 mph, the forward collision warning suddenly activated even though there was no pedestrian, vehicle, or other apparent obstruction requiring emergency braking. Approximately three weeks ago, following a manufacturer-issued software update, the AcuraLink connected services app stopped functioning on my 2024 Acura ZDX. This outage has disabled OnStar-connected safety features including remote monitoring and emergency/roadside assistance connectivity and concerned there were other technology issues that may affect this, but I’m not aware exactly all of them. Additionally, none of the remote features work. This vehicle is an electric vehicle and there is no ability to monitor the status of the battery charge or to monitor the battery. While moving about 40mph, the emergency brake engaged and it slowed car down significantly. However, there was nothing in front of me. I turned emergency braking off due to this issue. Also, during raining day, when backing out of driveway, car's emergency brakes engaged. This happen twice.

2024 Acura ZDX Type S displayed “Service Brake Assist,” “One-Pedal Driving Unavailable: Use Brake for Stopping,” and “Auto Hold Unavailable” simultaneously at 5995 odometer miles. An electronic ticking or clicking sound occurred from the brake-control area and the vehicle experienced a jerking sensation when coming to a stop. This noise originates from under the dashboard near the steering column and suggests a possible malfunction in the braking or electronic control systems. The warnings cleared after the vehicle was shut down and restarted several times. This VIN previously had DTC C2A22 and brake operating simulator-related warranty repairs but this issue has persisted after being inspected by Acura and confirming that all braking systems systems check out.

The contact stated that while driving 35-40 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal went down to the floorboard, and the vehicle slightly responded, causing the braking distance to be extended and the vehicle drove through the red traffic light before stopping. Multiple times, while both reversing and driving forward, the vehicle has initiated hard emergency braking maneuvers when no emergency exists -- no rear or front cross traffic, no pedestrians. This is dangerous and could initiate a crash with other cars following the vehicle.

The braking system does not engage properly and is worse in the rain. When adaptive cruise control is on, the car does not slow down at every instance when there is a car in front slowing down. When the car finally realizes there's an object/car in front it then slips before engaging in traction control, which seems to make the car actually slide forward rather than attempting to stop immediately.

When hard braking the car doesn’t stop, you can feel the wheels lock up and it slides forward. Some times when stopping at slow speeds the car will lunge forward. I almost hit a car, went in an intersection and one time almost hit a person and I was only going 5-10 mph that time and I hit the brakes and the car slid forward. I am really scared and Acura says they test drove mine and a new one and they both do it so there is nothing wrong with it.

When backing up the car will slam on its brakes when there is NOTHING behind me. Most of the time it is when I am backing out of my driveway it will do it 2-3 times when nothing is there. It has done it a couple of times backing out of a parking space when nothing is there. I reported this to Acura but they didn’t do anything about it.

On Wednesday, [XXX], I was driving near an intersection. There was a vehicle in front of me; however, they were accelerating as was I and at approximately the same speed. For no apparent reason, the automatic emergency braking activated and slammed on the brakes for absolutely no reason. This not only scared myself, but my [XXX] daughter in the back seat, and we almost were rear-ended by the car behind us. It was almost as if I was "brake-checking" the person. The problem has occurred in stop-and-go traffic, on hills, and while reversing. The exact cause is UNKNOWN. This creates a serious safety risk because the vehicle does not always respond smoothly or predictably when braking. In traffic, the sudden jerking could cause a rear-end collision or make it difficult to maintain a safe stopping distance. I purchased the 2024 Acura ZDX, an EV SUV, three months ago with approximately 2000 miles. Both the front and entertainment displays (monitors) have ceased to function. Unfortunately, the user menu does not provide any guidance on repairing or resetting. I still could drive to my dealer to have it repaired with a black screen, which poses a safety concern. The ZDX was manufactured by GM under the GM platform. I conducted some research and found that this is not uncommon for all GM platform EVs, including Honda and Acura. The shark-fin antenna housing on my Acura ZDX appears to have a defect in the way it is secured to the vehicle. The housing can separate from the roof during normal vehicle operation, creating a road hazard and potentially striking another vehicle, cyclist, or pedestrian. I reported the issue to Acura, but the company stated that the repair was not covered under warranty. I have found reports from other Acura ZDX and Honda Prologue owners describing the same failure. Although some dealerships have covered the repair, replacing or reattaching the housing does not necessarily correct the underlying design or retention defect.
