2024 GMC Sierra HD owner complaints

The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated that the vehicle would not not immediately start and had also experienced electrical malfunctions which caused multiple unknown warning lights to display and flash including the seat restraint warning and the ABS and Air Bag warnings. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the two batteries located under the hood were faulty and needed to be replaced. Both batteries were replaced and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 40,000.

The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated while towing a trailer and driving down a hill at approximately 40 MPH, the integrated trailer braking system error message was displayed, and the trailer braking system failed to activate. The vehicle was later taken to the local dealer who was unable to replicate the failure and failure was found. The dealer later informed the contact that the solar panel system on the trailer might have caused the integrated trailer braking system to malfunction. The contact stated that after turning off the solar panel system the failure persisted. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 800.

This vehicle exhibits the same failure described in NHTSA Recall N232426400 — spontaneous unlatching after rain due to water intrusion into the exterior tailgate release switch. I’m requesting a goodwill replacement under GM bulletin # N232426400 as the failure mechanism and part are identical. It has caused brake failure and nearly killed me because of battery drain while driving. All American Chevrolet of Midland Texas is refusing to solve the problem and says no recall is available.

When I connect my 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD to my camping trailer that has a solar panel and solar charge controller, it causes the factory-installed brake controller inside the truck to malfunction. The trailer brakes connect and disconnect 4 times a minute sending alerts to my dashboard. This is dangerous. My trailer weighs up to 14,000 pounds and would have to rely solely on the truck brakes to slow to a stop. GM put out a Document ID: 6379278 / #23-NA-113 "Information on Trailer Brake Disabled or DTC Stored". However, there is no fix. The GMC dealer said they can't find the service bulletin?! Please make this issue a RECALL. I bought this truck to exclusively tow a trailer and now I can't.

LED instrument cluster goes blank. No speedometer, no fuel gauge, oil gauge, nothing.

Vehicle shudders while accelerating and a constant speed from 1000-3000 rpm. Vehicle will shudder/shake for hundreds of miles at highway speed. Vehicle shakes violently going up steep grade. Vehicle shake is so consistently random it makes passengers ill. Warranty claim denied by GM after issue was recognized by technician.

Upon exiting the freeway, I pressed the gas and the vehicles rpm’s went up to 4K plus on a diesel engine, no acceleration. Thought maybe there was ice and had lost traction, tried again, same thing. Then a shudder, bang and pop. The check engine light went on and informed me of limited power and acceleration. There was no acceleration. Rpm’s would go to 2000 plus just to move. Got it to the dealership and parked it. Made a service appointment. They tried to put it into reverse and it wouldn’t move.

2024 Gmc sierra Denali ultimate 3500hd equipped with duramax lp5 and Allison 10 speed transmission mission. Towing cargo trailer Thursday November 21 up 4 degree incline transmission let loose banged and popped slammed to a stop almost causing accident and went to limp mode. Took to dealership in show low Arizona. Was told this is common problem and it’s the valve body assembly and parts are 60-90 days out. Mind you this truck was ordered from factory and received in march of 2024. The truck has 21k miles. So now a vehicle I bought specifically for business to haul a spray trailer will be down 2-3 months with no loaner to use to operate our business.

The transmission is locking up, to the point it stoped pulling, it has been to several dealerships, and they can’t find any problems, put another transmission in the truck and it’s doing the same thing, the dealer ship told us there’s nothing they can do for us!

Experienced loss of power and inability to maintain highway speeds. The Transmission shifted violently and RPMs went as high as 3500. Was able to move off the highway but cars behind us had to dodge us when it failed. There was warning message on the dash and a CEL. The truck threw two codes P0700, P0747. I was able to limp to a dealer 5 miles away. This is a known TSB with GM. There is a solenoid failure in the Transmission. There is 30-90 day backorder on parts as the failure is so prevalent.

Premature brake pad wear on all Brakes. All break pads worn down and had to be replaced at or before 25,000 miles. No trailer pulling and only light driving. Dealer stated rotors needed to be turned as well due to extremely low brake life.

Towing an RV with solar panels. When the trailer battery becomes fully charged and has a higher charge than the vehicle battery, the trailer brake control module becomes disabled. When this occurs, you have no trailer brakes. Combined weight of truck and RV exceeds 20,000 pounds. Trying to stop with only truck brakes is dangerous, especially if you are on a decent. I not only believe this to be a safety issues, but somebody is going to get killed.

Trailer brake controller will intermittently stop working. “Check trailer wiring” will show up randomly on the display and no trailer braking will be available. This has happened with 3 different trailers. The trailer wiring was gone over and the issue is with the truck. Trailer brakes work with other trucks and aftermarket trailer brake controllers. GMC and dealer were notified and no fix is available. Researching online there are several complaints about this. The trailer brake signal should default to being sent similar to all aftermarket trailer brake controllers. This would be much safer rather than not sending the brake signal at all. This HD truck is rated to tow trailers over 20,000lbs and without trailer brakes it causes an extremely dangerous situation. I was forced to pull over

Constantly having to clean the map Senor to be able to drive pickup without service emissions alerting me to clean the map Senor or my truck goes in limp mode. This can’t be normal to have to clean this so much. My truck is fairly new and should not be having these issues. Put a scanner on my GMC and the code says P122D. I got on YouTube and I found MANY people complaining about my exact problem for quite some time!

Vehicle surges and stays at 1700 rpm in low range four wheel drive when accelerator pedal is touched Dangerous situation if someone or something is in its path. Dealer is aware of the problem but is unable to repair, says it is inherent on those vehicles for the last couple of model years. (i can't safely hook up a trailer in low range 4X4)

The contact stated that the failure had created a dangerous situation while changing lanes. The check engine warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the fuel economy had decreased to 13 miles per gallon. The contact stated that upon scanning the vehicle, the contact retrieved DTC: P0606 and P062B. The contact related the failure to GM Campaign Number: N232415860 (Fuel Injector Flow Rate Compensation). The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that a fee would be charged for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Driving the speed limit of 55 on a paved road, no weather conditions and the rear driver side tire exploded. When this happened the truck slid across the road into the other lane. Luckily no one was coming in the other lane and I was able to get the truck under control. The tire was fine, tire pressure was correct but the entire tread of the tire flew/blew off and caused extreme damage to the rear driver side tire wheel well and back body panel of the truck. The tire is still full of air at the correct pressure to this day. The tire size is lt 275/70 r 18 125/122 r load range e
