2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L owner complaints

The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal hissing and tapping sound coming from the engine compartment, with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the wiring harness had failed due to rodent damage. The dealer informed the contact that the wiring insulation was soy-based and had been chewed on by rodents. The dealer stated that rodent urine and blood were found near the damaged wiring, and the area was not cleaned. The vehicle was not repaired. This is no secret that Stellantis is aware of this issue and does not seem to care enough about the safety of the consumer, yet prefers to avoid a bad mark against their poorly designed faulty vehicles to be in the public.

On two occasions after sitting overnight, the vehicle dash did not light up and would not start. Roadside was called on one occasion and was not able to jump start the car after about 40 minutes of trying. Dash would light up, but engine would not turn over. Tow company came and drained two jump start batteries before it would start. It was taken to the dealership where they had it for a week and said it was a glitchy software update. A month later the same thing happened where it would not start after sitting overnight. Had to be hooked up to a Dodge Ram battery for 20 minutes before engine would finally turn over. Alerted to shift to park when making a turn. Lost power to engine, was able to coast to side of road and apply brake and shift to park. Dash alerted to push run so I pushed ignition switch and it cranked back up. First time this has happened took to dealership and left for them to look over.

The car randomly stopped while I was going 50 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. The car then would not allow me to move off of the high way or put the care in neutral. The car just stopped while merging on to the highway at 50 mph. It’s unsafe for myself and others The dealer has not been able to reproduce the issue but they see a code they’ve never seen before. The car is currently being inspected by the dealer. There was no warning before the incident .

Upon starting my vehicle, my dashboard began flashing errors. All the indicator lights were lighted up (power steering, engine, collision detection, traction). The mileage began blinking on and off. Both of the light indicators on my side windows (for blindspot detection) were continuously illuminated even though I was parked and no vehicles were next to me. The error messages that were flashing on my dashboard were: Service Electronic Stability Control, Service Power Steering, Active Lane Management Limited, and Blind Spot Alert Unavailable. Dead Battery. The Telematics Bix Module (TBM) is failing to properly shut off when the car is parked. Therefore it induces a parasitic drain on the battery. We have had the battery replaced by the dealer. This problem is known to affect 2022-2025 models.

Significant electrical issues. Screens randomly turn off and flicker which prevents driver from being able to see vehicle status including speed. Vehicle also has built in charge pad which over heats and concerned could lead to wires melting and fire. Vehicle has spent multiple weeks at dealership for electrical issues but no solution has thus far been found. On multiple occasions while driving, vehicle gear blinked from Drive and told me place the vehicle in park. Unable to do so because I was in traffic, vehicle would no longer accelerate and completely stopped. I could not shift to Park and had to turn off the entire car. Once restarted, brake system was engaged and I could not turn it off until I restarted the vehicle again. I have had my children with me and while I haven’t been in an accident yet, it puts us in grave danger.

While driving 45mph along a straight, open highway my vehicle suddenly shifted itself to park and stopped itself abruptly. I was then unable to shift the car out of park or move the brake or gas pedal or turn off the vehicle. This lasted for approximately 15 minutes and the car would not let me open the doors. All the dashboard lights were illuminated and my driver display screen stated if I took my foot off the brake the car would reverse. Eventually after 15 minutes of trying to shift and turn off the car it did shut off.

Randomly, the passenger and driver seat’s lumbar and massaging features power on. In the case of the lumbar systems, they inflate to the point of rupture, resulting to damage in the seating surface and the delamination of the rear seat panel. All of this occurred while driving.

No accident there is a recall on the seat.

This accident did not trigger ANY safety features for my vehicle. No: Automatic Emergency Breaking Forward Collision Warning Air Bag Deployment SOS activation.

No warning lamps were displayed relating to the recall. I was hit from behind while driving between 60 and 70MPH. I lost control and spun around twice before violently hitting a guard rail, perpendicular to the driver's side of my vehicle. The side/door airbags failed to deploy. My neck was thrown into the seatbelt and door. I suffered from partial vocal cord paralysis, tinnitus, dysphagia, loss of hearing, pain, and other symptoms due to the impact; my sternocleidomastoid and associated nerves being primarily affected. As a result I was out of work from May 13th, 2026 to July 3rd, 2026. I was not aware or notified about any recalls until after my accident. My vehicle was totalled.

My 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee was having failures with the Active Lane Management and Park Sense features not turning on. A visit to the service department revealed failures with both the front and rear facing cameras. While waiting for parts, I was travelling on the highway with the Adaptive Cruise Control enabled. (Not thinking about a possible bad interaction with the ACC.) In slowed traffic, my Jeep decelerated approaching a car, then suddenly accelerated. I had to quickly press the brake before crashing into the car in front of me. The Adaptive Cruise Contol should have disabled with the other systems have trouble with the cameras. The failure mode should have been to brake or shutdown, not to accelerate.

I had my brakes flushed by my local dealer in June 2025 at about 31,000 miles for routine maintenance. I was traveling to York, Pa from Gravette, AR in September of 2025. All systems on my Cherokee had worked flawlessly on the trip, as they had since its purchase new in the Fall of 2023. On a very curvy, hilly road in the Cactocin mountain area, I was braking often. The ABS system warning light came on, as well as messages that the automatic collision control, lane departure control and adaptive cruise control were disabled. I have taken my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L to the dealership twice for a known recall 12B/NHTSA 24V-130 and issue with the automatic high beam headlights not working properly. The dealership claimed it was fixed and ran a recall update, but the system still does not function as designed. I am now within 500 miles of my factory warranty expiring, and the dealership is no longer responding to my calls. The safety feature remains broken despite repeated attempts to have it repaired.
