I started leasing this car brand new in April. The most problematic issue I have encountered is the false emergency breaking when backing up, which has almost gotten me into an accident multiple times. It happens randomly when the car is in reverse and it's never triggered by anything that's actually in the way while backing up. It's like a glitch. And when it break-checks me, it's an intense jolt that scares me every single time, it feels like I ran into a wall. When I have tried to make a quick maneuver to turn around with oncoming traffic, it'll break check me (again for now reason) so I'm stuck, then I have to put the car back into drive, then reverse again, then drive to go. It's not a smooth or safe system at all. This is a major safety issue and I have read about other people compla

The display in front of the driver which includes speedometer and tachometer, and other info went completely black. A small air bag warning light was the only functioning part of the display, so I assume that the air bags were not operational. Most associated functions such as cruise control were lost. The center accessory display was okay: the radio and navigation seemed okay, for example. The dealer asked me to drive it in to the dealership, which I did with a certain amount of apprehension. He has provided me with a "loaner". He said that I was not the first such failure he has seen at his dealership.

Dear National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, I am submitting this complaint regarding a persistent and concerning issue with my brand-new 2025 Genesis GV70. Since shortly after purchasing the vehicle in April 2025, I’ve experienced a loud metal-to-metal noise when reversing down my driveway — an incline where the issue consistently presents itself. Timeline of Events: June 9, 2025 – I brought the car to the dealership service department, reporting the metal-on-metal braking sound. Despite the fact that the sound occurs every time I reverse down my driveway, I was told that the dealership could not replicate the issue and was told the noise was “normal.” July 8, 2025 – After escalating my concern to Genesis Customer Service, an arrangement was made for a service technician to pick u

On June 8, 2026, while driving home from work and actively entering the freeway, the vehicle experienced a sudden, severe, and catastrophic loss of propulsion. Despite pressing the accelerator, the vehicle completely refused to accelerate beyond 30 mph, forcing me to navigate active highway traffic at a dangerously low speed. This sudden failure to accelerate while merging onto a high-speed interstate created an immediate, life-threatening situation, leaving the vehicle highly vulnerable to a severe rear-end collision. The vehicle was towed to an authorized Genesis dealership on June 9, 2026. Genesis Motor America (GMA) corporate customer service was notified, and Case #42801757 was opened. On June 25, 2026, the dealership stated they performed code scans and test drives but could not repl

I was driving on the road when suddenly the car started an alarm sound, with the message in the heads up display to "stop immediately and check the brake system". I pulled over into the nearest side street and parked the car. When I put it back in drive, I had lost power steering, and half of the warning indicators had lit up, including but not limited to: power steering warning, brake warning, charging system warning, oil pressure warning, master warning light, parking brake and brake fluid warning, ABS Warning, and AWD warning. I tried holding down the parking brake button, and the first time all the lights went away for 5 seconds, but then they all came back again. I restarted the car a few times, and each time I got the same "check brake system" message as well as all the warning light

This supplements my prior complaint, ODI #11751961, for the same vehicle. Following that complaint, an authorized dealer performed front camera and front radar ADAS calibration on 7/21/2026 and returned the vehicle as operating as designed; the manufacturer's representative confirmed in writing on 7/22/2026 that the camera had been within specification. On 7/23/2026, approximately 1:21–1:35 PM, driving in the left lane of a divided parkway with a concrete median barrier, with HDA2 and Lane Following Assist both active and indicating green, the steering wheel turned the vehicle toward the concrete barrier at least seven times, requiring manual correction each time. This occurred both with a lead vehicle approximately 4 seconds ahead and with no vehicle within more than 10 seconds ahead. Ear

When Highway Driving Assist / Lane Following Assist is active — confirmed by illuminated green HDA and lane assist indicators — the vehicle applies uncommanded steering torque, to the left or to the right, strong enough to force the vehicle out of its lane. This occurred on every drive, daily, from delivery on 7/2/2026 (approximately 23,200 miles) until the vehicle was brought in for service on 7/13/2026. The behavior was identical regardless of lane markings (solid, dotted, or absent) and road geometry (straight or curved), at highway speed and on local roads at approximately 30 mph. On multiple occasions the vehicle was pushed toward highway barriers (concrete median and metal guardrail, on both left and right sides) and into the oncoming traffic lane; avoiding barrier contact or returni

When I press the gas pedal halfway or 3/4 nothing happens - which is really bad in heavy traffic situations. On the highway, I floored it and the RPM was racing but it wouldn't shift up, so the engine was racing but there was no acceleration at all. I backed off and accelerated lightly, it would speed up. Scary. I have stomped on the accelerator it will rev to between 4 and 5 thousand rpms never up shifting or accelerating. Happens to frequently and I only have 11,000 miles on the vehicle. Genesis service can't locate the issue.

Auto Start Stop seemed to have malfunction and shut the car off completely. I had to restart the car in traffic to get going. This happened twice, once going to work and once on a weekend trip to New Jersey. The only thing that's preventing an accident is you have to stop for the auto start feature to even activate.

Airbags failed to deploy after pre-collision system did not activate nor did the emergency breaking activate. I struck a larger SUV while traveling ~35 mph broadside and there was no assistance from the vehicle safety features. It is unknown to me if any of the components have been adequately assessed since. I am concerned that the vehicle may be resold without proper inspection and has to potential to injure other parties in the future.

As I approached the intersection I saw the car come forward and then come to a complete stop before the intersection I assumed to look both ways. I was 10 feet away from the intersection when the car tried to speed across the intersection and I stomped on the brakes but it wasn’t enough to stop the collision from occurring while the FCA failed to kick in. My 2025 Genesis GV70 stopped accelerating properly. There is a lag when you push on the accelerator pedal and it must be pushed about 75% before it begins to accelerate. When it does accelerate it has much less power than normal. This fault occurs constantly. The car can't accelerate normally at any time now. This is definitely a very serious safety hazard. This behavior has been reproduced by Genesis service personnel. There are no warning lights associated with the problem and no diagnostic codes are signaled. After 24 days the Genesis service personnel have no idea what is wrong.
