Is there a fix? Manufacturer service bulletins

The manufacturer has issued service bulletins covering steering on this vehicle — documented repair instructions, service campaigns, or warranty extensions sent to dealers. A TSB isn't a recall (it's not a free safety remedy), but it's the manufacturer acknowledging the issue and how to fix it.

Service Bulletin TSB 26-2280 Jun 2026

Some of the vehicles listed in the Model Statement above may exhibit a concern where the horn intermittently sounds when turning the steering wheel. This may be due to incorrect routing of a wire harness in the steering wheel or a concern with one of the driver airbag mounting points.

Service Bulletin SSM 54763 Apr 2026

Some 2025-2026 F-Super Duty vehicles built without lane departure warning (built with minor feature code HLEAA) and 2025-2026 Expedition/Navigator vehicles built on or before 26-Mar-2026 may exhibit a clicking or creaking type noise when turning the steering wheel during low-speed maneuvers. To confirm a vehicle is built with a certain minor feature code, review the build information by double-clicking the vehicle identification number (VIN) in the upper left corner in the Professional Technician System (PTS). If a vehicle exhibits this condition, use a chassis ears tool and place the microphone clamp on or near the universal joint yoke of the steering column upper shaft (below the column).

Some 2025-2026 Expedition vehicles may exhibit a left turn signal that activates after the right turn signal is activated and the steering wheel is turned to the right, then immediately back to the left (past the center position). The left turn signal will deactivate once the steering wheel returns to center. This may be due to the multifunction switch. Replacing components will not resolve this issue. Inform the customer that Ford is aware of the concern and engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that is expected to be announced by March 2026. This concern does not affect vehicle durability and the customer can continue to drive the vehicle. Monitor Professional T

With speeds in excess of 70 MPH, the car have a violent shake. The shake gets worse as you approach 80 MPH. This is in both the 2025 and 2026 Ford Expedition models. This put drivers at risk, as they must keep control of the car at all times on the highway if they are in excess of 70 MPH. The car has already been inspected by Ford and they did a road balance test and replaced one tire. The car…

Common questions

How serious is the steering problem on the 2026 Ford Expedition?

It's a documented issue but not catastrophic. 3 complaints have been filed. Repairs average $700 and most owners catch it before it causes a breakdown.

At what mileage does the steering typically fail?

Mileage data is limited for this issue. Owners report failures across a wide range, suggesting cause is more about driving conditions and maintenance than mileage alone.

What does it cost to fix?

Independent shops typically charge around $700 for steering repairs on this vehicle. Dealer pricing tends to run 20-40% higher. The exact figure depends on the specific failure mode, parts availability, and your local labor rates. If you're outside factory warranty, an extended service contract often covers this category.

Are there any recalls related to steering?

No active recalls currently cover steering issues on this vehicle. The complaints filed represent owner-reported failures that haven't risen to the level of a manufacturer-issued recall — but they're still worth knowing about before you buy or budget for repairs.
