In the European service world, Saab fuel-system failures land on our lifts with regularity. 58 complaints across 6 year-model entries (2005–2007) is consistent with what we move in parts orders. The 2006 Saab 9-7X carries about 41% of the fuel-system complaints — typical of a generation-specific design pattern that gets resolved in the next refresh but never recalled for the affected years. Most reports are nuisance-grade rather than safety-critical — but the volume itself is the signal. Independent-shop repair on this category runs around $1,200; dealer pricing tends to run thirty to forty percent higher on European brands. Check the fuel pump access cover for prior work. A vehicle on this list that already had a pump replacement is a vehicle to consider — the work is done.

Saab is recalling certain model year 2010 and 2011 passenger vehicles manufactured from june 2010 through december 2010

The subject fuel pumps can seize causing the engine to stall which increases the risk of a crash.

severe NHTSA 07V087000 March 7, 2007 2005 Saab 9-5

On certain passenger vehicles, the fuel pump retaining tabs holding the fuel lines were damaged during production

Over time, this could cause the fuel lines to loosen from the pump resulting in fuel leakage. If an ignition source were present, the fuel may ignite resulting in a vehicle fire.

Fix: Dealers will develop a securing bracket that will secure the fuel lines to the fuel pump even if the plastic retaining tabs should break. The recall began on june 13, 2007. This is an expansion of previous recall campaigns - see 04v557 and 06v126. Owners may contact saab at 1-800-955-9007.
