My 2005 Dodge stratus stalls while I'm driving. It does it out of no where. I was on a busy hwy and it almost cut off. My car sputtered all the way home and then it started driving like nothing ever happen. A day or two later it happens all over again. *tr
I believe that this issue has great potential for a fatality. The problem that Dodge/Chrysler has is in the 2.4l engines manufactured from 2005 to present. The crankshaft moves inside the engine (endplay) and pushes the front main seal to come out. This spills the entire contents of oil onto the road and covers the bottom of the car. When I had the car towed the shop said it was surprising that the car did not crash fire. Dodge refuses to fix the car, because they say it is no longer under warranty. This is a safety issue and Dodge should be forced to issue a recall. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 Dodge stratus. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated as the vehicle exhibited an abnormal noise. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 134,000.
Car accelerated on its own. When I let off the brakes it took off very fast and got up to 70 before I had to mash the brakes very hard and pull over and force it into neutral and turn the key to stop the engine. When restarting the engine it continued rev in park and neutral which prevented me from putting it in drive'
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 Dodge stratus. While driving 65 MPH, the vehicle shut off. The vehicle still had steering and braking ability so the contact pulled to the side of the road. She turned the vehicle completely off and it was able to restart immediately. A couple of miles down the road, the failure kept recurring for the next three hours. She took the vehicle to the dealer, but they could not assist because the part needed for inspection was unavailable. The vehicle was towed to another dealer and they kept it for three days. The failure occurred while at the dealer, but they could not provide a failure code. The contact rented a u-haul to have the vehicle towed to the dealer from where the vehicle was purchased; however, they also could not provide a code for the failure.

One day I went to back out, I turned the wheel and hear this crunching, clunking sound which sounded like a huge rock scrapping on metal. I immediately stopped and walked around the car and saw nothing. It started again as soon as I started the car back up. Anytime I turn the steering wheel, I heard this sound. I took it to a mechanic who told me it was the tie-rod ends. He said a lot of people have this issue but there was no recall yet. I called the dealer to see if they would fix it since there were a lot of complaints. Nope ! The dealer said they could not fix it for free without an official recall. It's a costly repair $900-$1100 b/c it requires many different services - tie rod ends, tires, balance, alignment, but they would not drop the price by a single penny. Now they are doing a
Got this car 2 years ago and from day 1 when applying the brakes all the way the car is almost uncontrolable the wheel pulls one way or the other bad so I have to pump them and then it still pulls and I have replaced the brakes 4 times to make sure it wasnt the disc and also replaced the wheel bearings and the shop told me the lower control arm and upper and lower ball joints are cracking up and so its not safe for me to drive and I dont have the money to be replacing something that shouldnt be messed up my car has low miles it started makimg clunking noises whem going over a bump and any time car is moving it is squeaking noises coming frpm front of car
This car is a death trap. I have lost control of the steering many times it seems to be worse in any curve. I must drive it under the speed limit at least 5 miles to safely keep it on the road. I am terrified everyday in this car. When using the brakes the whole car shakes violently an does not stop well even at low speeds(brakes are new)
I was backing out of the driveway on his way to work and all of a sudden he couldn't steer. The right front tire just turned in sideways and wouldn't move with any movement of the steering wheel. We jacked up the car to see what happened and we saw the arm with the ball joint was completely detached from the socket. By the looks of it, the crack is near the retaining ring groove. We can manually move the tire as it is completely detached from the front suspension control arm. I was very upset with this and the fact I wasn't notified this was an issue. Not only could my life have been in danger but also my nephew who I let use the car and all of those other drivers on the roads everyday. An issue like this would for sure cause a fatality at a fast speed as I drive the interstate daily with
In late july, I was parked in my 2005 Dodge stratus rt 2 door coupe with the car still running. I adjusted my steering wheel which in turn caused the car to turn off. Every time I raised my steering wheel, my car would turn off. It didn't matter if the car was moving or not, the car would turn off (the key would stay on). Big safety issue if I wouldn't of noticed until I began driving. I could have lost my power brakes and steering. I took the car to a Dodge dealership on 8-7-06. The dealership said that the connector for the ignition switch was broke and they could temporarily fix it. A new connector is being ordered. The dealership said that the connector couldn't have broken without someone being in the steering column previously. I bought this car brand new and to my knowledge, the ste

My car is pulling to right pops every time you move clickes in turning even in the slites turning shocks are bottoming out every turn cant go over a speed bump with out it hitting hard scared to drive my kids in it please help happends all time
I was at the store just left about to get on the highway to pick up speed with my kids and myself being pregnant when my right wheel folded and scared the life out of us after holding up traffic and thank god I did not get on the highway. The mechanic advised me that my lower control arm and lower ball joint broke and causing my steering wheel to losen up causing my vehicle to go to the right and could of caused me to be in a serious accident if I woudl of picked up speed with my kids in the car. I was not notified of the recall by email or by the used car dealership I bought this car from and still paying on it. I had it repaired and still makes a horrible noise and fear that the left side may also do the same while I'm on the highway. *tr

Hello,my name is [xxx] . I was involved in an motor vehicle accident on august 1 of 2008. I was driving a 2005 Dodge stratus. My vehicle collided with another vehicle. My car sustained major front end damage. The damage was so severe my vehicle was totaled by my insurance company. My speed limit on impact was between 35-40 miles an hour. I was shocked my air bags didn't deploy. Luckily, myself and my mother was wearing our safety belts. I feel at the speed I was driving my air bags should have deployed. I called the manufacturer of the Dodge stratus on friday august 8, 2008, still I haven't received a response. Please assist me with this matter. Thank you information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

2005 Dodge stratus sedan 4 door automatic 2.7 w less than 60k miles. Reverse went out after what I think was a clinking sound near the front. It drives normally, just does nothing in reverse. If the car is parked it will roll backwards if the car is on a incline. Transmission rebuild is more than the car is worth. This should be a recall. So many Dodge transmission issues, they are losing many customers.
