2005 Honda odyssey ex-l - around 50k miles, the power steering was intermittently hard, especially in parking lots. Very little assist. Around 64k, our mechanic purged the p/s pump of fluid and the problem remained. Mechanic replaced our p/s pump which seemed to work initially, but perhaps because the issue was intermittent. Problem returned. We now have 104k on the car and live with the issue of hard steering, especially when parking. Hard steering means that I need to use both hands to turn the wheel in the parking lot. *tr

Power steering failed in Honda odyssey 2005. Heard intermittent grinding noises when steering, but noise goes away in warmer temperatures. Had problems steering and took it to the Honda dealership. Cost me $650 to replace power steering pump and reservoir. The car only has 60,000 miles on it. I have never replaced a power steering pump in any car I have ever owned and I have one now that has 175,000 miles on it. This is very dangerous especially if it went out while driving. Fortunately mine didn't but I could of had a serious wreck. *tr
Power steering does not work under 1000 rpms. Passenger airbag is not functioning.
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 Honda odyssey. After starting the vehicle, the tie rod detached without warning. As a consequence the front driver side tire became loose. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer for inspection. The power steering system and front tie rod required replacement. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired for the failure. The failure and current mileages were 48,000.
Power steering pump is noisy at low RPM and vehicle is hard to turn at slow speeds. Taking van to dealer for warranty work. *tr

We have owned out dark blue 2005 Honda odyssey for approximately 5 years. Recently, I am finding that the paint along the roof and side/front trim panels is chipping away. I have attempted to sand some of the bed spots and paint /protect again, but it is no use. The problem seems to be with the base layer below the blue paint. I have seen where this was identified, but I do not know where to go for more information on this defect the second area of concern is in the wiring for the radio and temperature control. There seems to be a loose wire or connection behind the panels. The back-lights for the radio and temperature control will turn on or off with no warning or indication as to why. The systems themselves work fine, it's only the visible lights that flicker, or turn off and on with
Between 35-40 miles per hour transmission is slipping. Van is 4.5 years old with 53,000 miles. Dealer says torque converter needs to be replaced at an out of pocket expense of $3400. This is on a 2005 Honda odyssey ex-l with navigation. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 Honda odyssey. When driving between speeds 25 MPH to 45 MPH the vehicle shudders as if it will stall . The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the torque converter was replaced. Several months after the repair the failure resurfaced. The technician at the dealer has not been able to duplicate the failure. The failure mileage was 68,000.
electrical 2 complaints shown
This issue is related to the electric sliding doors for a 2005 Honda odyssey ex. The right passenger electric sliding door stopped working when the odometer read 99722. At the time it stopped working, the van was parked in a parking lot. When the button was pressed to open the door, the door refused to open and a light went on the instrument panel "slide door". When I consulted the instruction manual, it said to take the vehicle to the dealer. I was really suspicious with the sudden failing of the door because up until that particular moment, the door was working fine. The way I opened the door and the weather conditions it was in remained the same from when the odometer read 99700 until the incident. When I did some research online, I found that I was not the only odyssey owner with this
When engine is off and I lock the doors by remote control, after few minutes safety alarm will be active ( lighting started to on/off for 120 second and whistle also continues active).

Rolling side doors - and rear hatch struts massive problems. Bought car in jan 2006, new. In 2007 one of the side doors quit rolling. Had to have the roller replaced - cost over $700. Then a year later, the other side rolling door went out. Then, the rear hatch struts totally gave way and the rear hatch came slamming down about 2 inches from my 7 year olds head. I called dealer - Honda carland in roswell - they could care less. Until I had to raised the roof with Honda corporate before anybody would offer to cover the cost to replace struts. For certain, this would have been a serious injury to someone's head if it fell on them. After the hatch, then came the third sliding door problem, again I had to fix the door. So, three door fixes at over $700 each. Now, in 2013 for the fourth time do
We were out if town when our van's driver's side sliding door wouldn't close and it came off the track and I caught it luckily. We had to rig it up and drive it home. Only to find out it's a common issue.
tires 1 complaint shown
Premature tire wear. Honda odyssey touring has michelin pax tire system designated as a high-end premium feature safety system. These tires wear out in 23000 miles, which is well below standard tires offered on other Honda odyssey packages. In addition, the pax system is a proprietary design offered only by one tire manufacturer, is not compatible with standard wheels, and requires dealer/tire service garages to have unique expensive mounting equipment. Few tire dealers support pax. Example: only one dealer in san diego supports pax. For travelers on the road who experience a failure, it will be difficult or impossible to locate a near by replacement. The odyssey touring does not come with a spare tire, so the max run-flat distance of 100 mi may not be enough to reach tire store. T

Right front brake makes a grinding noise when braking. Car is under warranty, but dealer refuses to remedy the issue as they are stating a remedy is being supplied by Honda without commitment as to when it will be addressed. This is a safety issue.*jb
seatbelts 1 complaint shown
2005 odyssey - front passenger seat belt will not free up to allow enough length to buckle. It is locked in the recoiled position. It just happened two days ago and has never happened before. After two days it is still locked in the recoiled position making the front passenger seat unusable. What do we need to do to get it corrected. Our vehicle just came off of warranty but we understand that Honda offers a lifetime warranty for seat belts. True? *tr
