I had just bought a 2006 Ford five hundred with about 131000 miles. Drove great from the dealership then later that afternoon the throttle all of a sudden went dead. I was going 65 MPH on the highway and had no throttle. I went online and researched the car and there have been numerous (upwards of 100+) people who have the same complaint. I just wish Ford would recall the part so it's not going to cost me an arm and a leg to fix. *tr

when I’m The vehicle and the temperature reaches middle temp ,the car starts to beep and all the dashboard lights go completely out and the head lights and tail lights be blinking as if they are about to go off . Even when I have the heater or a/c on they turns off and I’m a afraid that if or when I’m on the highway all my lights will just stop working on the middle of the highway at night and no one will be able to see me. And that will cause a big wreck and maybe kill myself or worst someone else. I have looked my car up to see if it has a recall but none are given. I’m afraid for the safety of my fellow drivers on the at night . And I don’t know what to do about this problem.

This is a long on going problem with the electrical problem that has been going on now for five months. Started out having the battery cluster light on & check charging system. Found charging a little low, had new alternator installed. Then with a week, battery, engine light & airbag light cluster are on, then the fun began, then all the instrument cluster goes off and you have no turn signals, no fans, no radio, no electric windows, no door locks and no break lights, (but break lights do come on when you apply breaks and the back-up lights come on. The system can come and go on and off while moving and setting still. Have had system checked and coded, they can not find a problem except that it is a electric problem, had all wiring checked, cleaned. No,frayed wire founf and no d

During normal driving vehicle dash lights went completely out and then began to flicker while both gauges speedo and tach went left to right on and off repeatedly causing a loss of power on vehicle rendering vehicle unsafe to drive and almost causing collision.. Brought to Ford dealer replaced alternator and problem still exists after 500 dollar expense. *tr

While driving, the instrument cluster bottoms out on the speedometer, tach, and all other warnings - backup lights come on and the instrument panel lights go out.. Sometimes it will come back on by pretty quickly, other times it will be that way for a week or more. This is very dangerous and from research I've done is happening to many people. Why has there not been a recall to fix the problem? There is a tsb 06-17-9 dated 9/4/2006 but no remedy by Ford. Also after having the transmission fluid changed at the recommended mileage the transmission then started slipping and had to eventually be replaced.

Starting since february 2010. My car lunges forward whenever at a dead stop. When shifting to drive and reverse. I have had to have my foot on brake and even almost had an accident while parking and hit the wall. Went to dealership and first they said it was my engine mount that was causing it. Then went again because the problem still occurred and they said I needed a new battery. Then they claimed it was my air filter which is a lie. I called the Ford headquarters and all they can do is take down when I called and what it was about. They are no help what so ever so what is the point of them even existing if they cant help solve the problem. They claim each dealer is independent and that they can advise that I go to a different dealership. I have wasted a good deal of time and money. Luck

2006 Ford five hundred, internal failure of CVT transmission (torque converter and shaft), no notice. Drove and entered parking spot, put car in reverse and no gear. Put back in d and no gear. Wrench light then came on and became a rather expensive 10 mile tow car was well taken care of and now needs transmission at 75k. Unbelievable numerous nationwide complaints but no responses by Ford. Please note Ford no longer uses this type of transmission in their vehicles. They own the rebuilt parts and costs are in thousands range to replace. Not acceptable. Unsafe and should be held accountable to provide safe, reliable vehicles. Have owned numerous fords and never an issue. This is a true hazard! Now vehicle is nothing more than a driveway ornament where the cost to repair is more the entire v

My Ford five hundred is losing power while driving down the street without warning. No car should be performing this way and no known mechanical issues. The car is driven daily and maintenance has been kept/up to date. I think this is an issue with this Ford model and year should be a recall on it. *tr

I bought my 2006 Ford 500 in june of 2006. I had a problem with the rear brakes getting very dusty (on rims), so I went to the Ford dealership and asked about this problem. At the time the answer was, "those are the brakes which the manufacturer installed and there is nothing we can do about it. So, I had to accept this answer and go on about my business. At 12000 miles (december 2006) I took the car in for an oil change. When they were driving my car in for the oil change they noticed a squeeling noise coming from the rear wheels. I guess they checked the rear wheels and found excessive wear on the rear brakes. Anyhow, now they have changed and repaired the brakes. I was told when I picked up the car that there was an service bulletin on the brake problem.

2006 Ford five hundred with poorly designed front end. Consumer states that vehicle front end is low enough that it scrapes driveways and curbs. *nj when the consumer slowly drove up the driveway, where there was slightly more than a normal incline, the front end scraped the driveway and tore the right side inner wheel well and mud flap completely out of the wheel well and the vehicle veered to the right out of control. There was no body damage to the vehicle. *jb

Upon starting the vehicle this morning (first sub-freezing day here and first time the car had not been garaged), the driver door did not latch. Repeated attempts to secure the door both from inside and outside the vehicle failed. I held the door closed for a 10-minute drive and partially through the trip it partially latched and by the time I arrived at my destination the door latched and locked. This is similar to an existing recall for 2005 Ford five hundreds (id #06v383000) but in speaking with Ford owner services I am told the recall has not extended to 2006 model year five hundreds. I believe it is a situation to be investigated as a safety hazard. *tr

Pirelli p6 (p225/55 r18) tire failure on interstate 40. The entire tread area & about 1 inch of the sidewall broke away from both sidewalls. The remaining two sidewalls stayed on the rim but the tread came off. The tires are original to the 2006 Ford 500 - with 40k mileage. The other 3 tires appear to be ok. All have been maintained and rotated every 5k miles. Fortunately there was no wreck - I was extremely lucky consider the traffic speed. I retrieved the tread from the roadside after having the tire replaced. *tr

Air bag system failed , was told by dealer none of the air bag in the auto will work with the passengers air bag defective.. We replaced the seat but that one also didn't work so this problem is not limited to our auto. We have high mileage because my wife drives 600 miles a week to go to work {alone} no one has ever even sat in this seat this is the passengers seat air bag that is disabling the system. I have contacted Ford and they don't care. *tr

Car surges forward/backward when engaged in gear from dead stop and brake is released without having even touched the accelerator. Seems to be worse when heating/cooling fan is on, especially on recirculate, and rpms will surge/race at dead stop with brake firmly applied when the steering wheel is turned to either side. Problem is especially noticeable in parking lots or anywhere in low speed stop/go driving conditions. Concerned for pedestrian safety as I have had the car jump unexpectedly and nearly hit them. Check engine light came on a couple of weeks ago and car went into limp home mode indicating error codes p061b & p2016 which means the throttle body needs to be replaced after driving in deep snow, extremely cold temperature after car had been sitting for 3 days, the check engin
