Total transmission failure on i95 in connecticut ,10pm at night, at 55mph , with family in car. Coolant leaked into the transmission causing a total transmission failure. Nissan knows about this problem and did not contact vehicle owners to warn of the problem or offer suggested repair. Replacing the radiator would have been a $300.00 fix. Instead Nissan offered no warning and the extremely dangerous transmission failure on an interstate at night happened. Total cost to repair was $4381, plus a week car rental.

The transmission and radiator fluids are intermingling and has caused my transmission to fail. It has ruined the transmission. It is my understanding that this has happened to thousands of the same make and model.

The transmission and radiator fluid mixing and causing transmission to fail. I see that you have had many complaints about this issue and you choose not to help the consumers. This is a very dangerous issue and a very expensive repair. This is obviously a continuing problem and an extended warranty isn't fair to the consumer because this is a faulty issue with this model transmission/radiator.

On august 19th while traveling on the highway when I noticed what appeared to smoke coming from my engine and noticed my temperature gauge reading that it was overheating. I pulled over on the shoulder and observed, what I now know was, coolant vaporizing from my engine. At this time all the mechanics I called where wrapping up for the day, so I had it towed and taken to a local Nissan service the next morning. After paying $49.95 for the inspection the service center informed me that the radiator failed mixed coolant in the transmission fluid killing my transmission as well. They gave me an estimate of $5,901, $6,373.08 after taxes, to fix the damages. I remembered being sent a notice of a radiator recall, that I was told didn't concern my vehicle when I brought it in, so I asked about I

I brought my 2006 Nissan pathfinder to a local Nissan dealership to check out a completely unrelated issue when I was made aware that my car had the problem of a cracked radiator that contaminates the transmission fluid that could lead to major problems if not corrected. Since I have less than 90,000 miles, I'd have to pay a co-pay of $2500 out of pocket. Evidently there is no recall on this issue, although there should certainly be one since this has happened to many other cars and shouldn't be the responsibility of the consumer to pay for an issue that is clearly a manufacturer's defect. I personally am not in a position to simply dump $2500 into a vehicle and this makes this problem even more difficult and hard to accept. Something absolutely needs to be done about this. *tr

While in gear, traveling approx. 40mph, vehicle stopped moving without warning (no engine light, no overheating) and had to coast during heavy freeway traffic, which caused several other vehicles to suddenly slow or stop. Car was towed & code evaluation was performed. Radiator and transmission had to be replaced due to a defective radiator which leaked coolant into transmission for $5347.52.

Check engine light indicated a problem. After review by a Nissan dealer, there is a crack in the radiator assembly that will cause fluid to leak into the transmission, rendering the vehicle inoperable. Nissan knows about this issue and a class action lawsuit was brought against Nissan. A settlement was made giving only an extended warranty, not a recall. Data shows that it breaks on most cars after the so-called extended warranty time. Leaving most with no help from Nissan to fix this issue. This should have been a safety issue not a money issue. *js

I paid off my pathfinder last year. Just about 2 months ago after leaving a friends house the truck started turning on all the dash board lights, I didn't know what to expect. I drove it very slowly home not even a mile away, I turned it off and next day..my surprise it didn't turn on to take to the mechanic. I called the tow truck to take it in to Nissan dealer and they found that the radiator fluid mixed with transmission oil and messed up the module too. They where originally charging me 7200 dollars to fix. I brought it back home and after when I was able to pay with credit I took it in to fix. They urged me to fix all at once because of a manufacturer defect on any of the above..most likely they said it could happen again. *tr

As my wife and I with our 5 children were on our way to church, driving at 45mph the car started jerking dropping at 20mph with traffic behind us on a two way highway we had to pull over on a dirt embankment. We took the car to Nissan dealership and the service rep estimated the cost of $9,000. Problem in radiator crack line inside transmission fluid cooler. Antifreeze leak into transmission causing damage. *tr

Just found out that I have the coolant mixed with the transmission fluid causing transmission failure.... Called Nissan consumer affairs and was told I had to go get diagnosis at dealer witch I did at a cost 100.00. Called Nissan back and said I was out of luck and nothing they would do.... How can they get away with selling such a defective part for so long is beyond me and the fact that there is numerous class action law suits on this issue and nothing is being done about it..... This is a major safety issue as a transmission failure will cause the vehicle to stop in traffic.... Someone needs to do something about this. *tr

The molded fuel tank shell deformed, causing the fuel sender float arm to contact an embossment molded into the tank shell causing the instrument panel fuel gauge to malfunction. Steering shaft problem on a 2006 Nissan pathfinder se - the steering shaft went loosen and could be moved horizontally from left to right. I took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the steering shaft both upper and lower with the coupling needed to be replaced because of safety concern. My personal opinion is that Nissan should include this type of repair in the recall for 2002 to 2004 frontier/xterra/pathfinder recall for the steering shaft because of the similar problem. I have made this request to Nissan but was turned down. *tr
