While driving on smooth road at 55 miles per hour and no one in the passenger seat the airbag light came on along with "service airbag" message on info screen. Had a dealer scan codes and found passenger seat sensor bad. After googling it seems to be a common problem. The car only has 50,000 miles on it.

In may of 2017 dash warning showed service airbag remained on. Took to dealer and it as replaced for $991.20 plus tax. In 2018 received recall notice that stated I would be reimbursed as part was recalled. Took car to dealer to see about reimbursement and did paper work on 7/17/18. While I as there I requested an appointment with the dealer to see if the repaired recalled part was done with the same old part that is under recall, they checked out the previous repair and discovered that the previous repair was made with the same recalled part. Dealer replaced the repaired part through recall campaign 17036. Gm has not reimbursed me for the original repair. As I was not made whole by gm, I am asking for a determination for reimbursement
Takata recall I have a 2006 Pontiac solstice that is not driven very much. I went on vacation and realized my passenger airbag light would not come on when some one seats in the passenger seat, the light stays off all the time. Now the airbag readiness light is flashing on and will not turn off, which means the airbags need to be serviced. What is wrong with these air bags and why are they not working properly?
Our solstice now has a passenger seat seat bag sensor light on. We took it into the dealer and were informed this is a common problem. They promptly told us it would be over $1000 to fix. The car has been well maintained and only has 23,000 miles on it. This light remains on at all times. We were told that our air bag will not deploy. It is my understanding that even replacing the sensor may not be a permanent fix as the sensor goes out frequently. When are they going to recognize this problem? Will it take a few deaths for the recall?
I took my Pontiac in and had ignition switch replaced and they installed a reinforcement strip on the air bag passenger seat .this did not fix the problem .I took it to crossroads chevorlet ,mt. Hope w.v. The internet said that if the reinforcement strip fixed it that was good but if it didnt that they would have to replsaace the sensor.now crossrads have turned it in that is has been repaired and it hasnt. I ask the mechanic when I picked up the car that if I went out and set in the seat if the light on the dash would change butn when I went out and set in it it was still the same .they told me that if I wanted them to keep it or make another appointment that they would run a diagonase on the car and charge me 95.00 dollars and if it was the sensor that they could fix it but it would cost
The air bag sensor in my vehicle failed shortly after logging 25,000 miles. The failure indication happened at slow speed while turning left onto a bumpy road. Any passenger in the car faces added risk if an accident were to occur. It is my understanding that the owner's cost to fix this item is prohibitive ($800 or more), and that the early failure of this part is somewhat common for this vehicle. Discussing this with other owners, I understand this is a common failure and the expensive fix only temporarily solves the problem. I understand this can lead to a deployment failure or an unexpected air bag deployment. This is an unreliable safety critical component that has no place in a passenger vehicle.
I have been trying to book a recall appointment for a year now to have my issue resolved. Every time I speak with kuni Chevrolet, they let me know the airbag part is not available. I called customer service for Pontiac, only to be re directed back to kuni Chevrolet with the exact same outcome. My airbag light is lit on my dash when I have a passenger in the passanger seat.
Takata inflators, says service passenger air bag, air bag off with passenger present.

2006 Pontiac solstice. Consumer writes in regards to passenger airbag suppression system safety recall. *ld the consumer stated the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time completing the recall repair, due to the part being unavailable. *js
There is a recall on the passenger air bag switch I took it to a gm dealer and they installed a reinforcement strip on passenger side seat and ignition switch the ignition switch is no problem but the reinforcement strip they installed on a bad switch is the service airbag warning is still on the dash when some one sets in the passenger seat the light will not switch from off to on it's the same as it was when I took it there I've talked to the mechanic and service person and they are telling me that the sensor is not under warranty only the reinforcement strip they installed they also told me to bring it back that there is a 95 dollar diagnostic they could do but if the sensor is bad it still cost me to have it changed I understand this is a used car and they also h
The passenger side airbag sensor is no longer working. The service airbag indicator is illuminated. This causes the entire airbag system to no longer functional and neither airbag will deploy in a crash. This is a safety issue that must be addressed before anyone losses a life due to airbag system malfunction! *tr

2006 Pontiac solstice grinding noise in the differential assembly. Consumer states that the dealer is saying that the noise is normal and there is nothing wrong. *kb the consumer stated that the grinding issue had become so bad that the vehicle would violently jerk not only while attempting to turn, but also while driving straight. *jb
Immediately after purchasing my 2006 Pontiac solstice in 2006, I begin experiencing a noise in the rear end of the vehicle. I took it in several times for repair until finally in 2007, Pontiac recalled the vehicle for the power train being defective as listed below. I did not have any more problems until 2010 when the vehicle begin to make the same noise. I took the vehicle to another gm dealership as the one I purchased from had closed. They told me there was nothing they could do. This problem has gotten progressively worst and now the noise if getting very bad as I am decelerating and braking. The gears get more difficult to change when this happens. This is the same way it was acting before the drive train replacement. I took it to another gm dealership and was told they only replace

The electric system appears to be unsafe, the ignition doesn't turn over and drains the battery every day. I'm also worried about the airbags and other recalls on this car. I contacted the dealer "Dave Kirk Automotive" in Crossville, TN weeks ago. They took the vin # and looked up the recalls. This was a month ago. They said they would get the parts and call me. No one at the dealer has contacted me again. They know there are serious recalls on this vehicle. I need help on this. I'm 74, the car only has 39000 miles on it. This needs to be fixed at once.
I purchased a 2006 Pontiac Solstice from a Lexus dealership in 2020. No known issues were discussed when I purchased the vehicle. The ignition switch turned off while I was driving around a curve which caused engine to stall, and my steering wheel to locked up preventing me from turning. I crashed into a guardrail at 60 mph and my car spun, hitting the back as well. The car is totaled. My airbag did NOT deploy in the crash, resulting in worsened injuries. Thankfully no other cars were involved, but the faulty ignition switch put my safety at risk. The car is available for inspection, and is currently in the hands of my insurance agency who has inspected and totaled it. I did not drive much, and had not experienced this issue prior with my car.
