2006 Suzuki Reno owner complaints

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 Suzuki reno. The contact was driving 70 MPH when the vehicle erroneously slipped into neutral without warning. The check engine warning light was also illuminated. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who informed the contact that the transmission range sensor failed and needed replacement. No repairs were performed. The current and the failure mileages were 90,758.

I have a 2006, reno with around 52k miles on it. In trying to go up a small hill, the car started to lose it's ability to accelerate. Once I reached the top it was better, but then indicated on the dashboard a d with a slash through it. My car then would still have difficulty accelerating. In coming to a stop then trying to accelerate to turn a corner it continued to have difficulty accelerating. The car then begins to lose power. The check engine light would come on and stay on. It would then go off and within a few days come right back on. Before the check engine light would come on, the car would jolt then have the override (d with a slash) on the dashboard. I then have to place the car on park (each gear giving a jolt to the car), turn it off and then restart the car to hope it acceler

I bought my 2006 Suzuki reno in 2008 with approx. 41000 miles on it. My car is currently approx. 90000 miles but the issue started happening around the 83000 mile mark. I was on the highway when all of a sudden, it felt like my car shifted into neutral while driving and went from 70mph to 30mph almost immediately. After that first instance, the car continually bangs into gear from park to reverse. It drives fine for a few minutes but then it continues to erratically shift into neutral while driving. Researched online about problem and seems numerous others have the exact same issue with renos as well as forenzas. Transmission range sensor faulty. Please recall, it is extremely dangerous. *tr

For several weeks my car has been clunking into reverse and drive and getting stuck in 3rd gear while driving. I went to Suzuki and bought the transmission range sensor which is what is faulty. The Suzuki dealer was really surprised that we had 71000 miles on the car and had not had a problem yet (they know its a problem) I have not had a chance to change the sensor yet but my wife was driving the car today and when put into reverse the car went forward instead. Luckily there was only a curb that she hit but she could have hit a car or a person. The car while driving feels like it jerks out of gear for a few seconds into neutral. When it jerks, the gas pedal doesn't work. I lose acceleration. This is dangerous because I could get rear-ended when losing speed so fast. When it does this at least 5 or six times during a trip. Repeated failure of the transmission range sensor affecting acceleration and transmission response while stopping/starting and steady driving. When the vehicle is taken out of park and placed in any forwards gears or reverse, the transmission makes a loud "bang" sound and jerks. When accelerating from a complete stop, the vehicle takes at least a mile to reach highway speed and when stopping it seems as if the transmission remains completely in gear and does not allow the vehicle to slow down correctly. No parts have been replaced at this time as the manufacturer sees this item as not being part of the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty, and some ball park estimates to have the delaer replace this part is over 300.00 this has been happening for over 2 months now, and the problems surfaces

Intermittent issue with the check engine light coming on and the rpms would reach higher points even while idling. During normal drives the unit would start revving when it was to switching over to another gear and after the issue the check engine light comes on and the car has problems accelerating. Sometimes on start up a similar issue appears and after the revving ends it slowly goes back to normal rpms but having a hard time accelerating. We've taking it to the dealership and they've replaced parts and have held the vehicle plenty of times to fix the issue but it goes away and comes right back. Own a 06 reno with 50k miles on it. Just recently while driving in average normal traffic about 45 to 50 MPH the transmission indicator would start flashing and the MIL light would come on. During this time any change in prndl would cause loud and harsh shifting as well as severely decreased acceleration ability, almost as if it was flooding. Eventually the MIL light would go off or stay on and transmission function would return to normal. This would only last maybe a few hours and then whole scenario would repeat itself. The transmission range sensor went out the first time.as many others have described, when it happens, the car clunks, and then it feels as if the car won't engage in a gear. I took it to a mechanic, a transmission specialist, and it had to be replaced. A couple months later, the same thing happened so I took it back to the mechanic and he fixed it. A month later, it seemed like it was the same symptoms and took it back to the mechanic. This time, however, he said it was no longer the transmission range, but now it was that the computer was not reading the sensor to tell the car what gear it is on and the only place that could fix it was the Suzuki dealership. A lot of other people have experienced the same problem and Suzuki needs to make a recall on that part as soon as possible. *tt

The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.

After the vehicle was repaired the contact was driving at approximately 60 MPH when the headlights stopped functioning. The day time running lights continued to function. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician stated the vehicle would not be repaired under the recall because it was repaired previously. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

My 2006 reno has had airbag light on all the time for years . It has been reset multiple times , only to come on again . What's entirely wrong with the current airbag recall that the NHTSA is currently having is the fact Suzuki ( gm ) is trying to say it only effects grand vitara's and sx4's . I beg to differ . This company new all along the airbag problem existed , just check some of the old Suzuki problem bulletins 4&5 years ago . And it's not only 290,000 vehicles and/or only 2 models . This recall should absolutely be increased to cover reno's , forenza's etc; . These companies don't buy separate airbag components , they buy bulk ( its just cost effective .) any fifth grader knows that . I just bought a Used 2006 Suzuki Reno from a private seller 3 months ago. It has less then 53,000 miles on it so I thought I was getting a great deal. While driving it at night 3 weeks ago, I had my lights on high beam. A car was coming towards me so I flipped the light switch on my steering column. Which is also the blinker switch. And we almost wrecked head on with each other because when I flipped the switch to go to low beam there was no headlights. None whatsoever on low beam. I have driven on my street testing it to make sure it wasn't a 1 time thing. Or possibly my fault. If I have the low beam lights on when I first turn the lights on they work but go dimmer and dimmer as time goes by. And as soon as I flip the switch whether it's from High beam or low beam it's completely dark. N

The brake pedal was engaged repeatedly however, the vehicle failed to stop until the gear lever was shifted into neutral. The contact was able to resume normally. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the throttle body was replaced. The failure recurred after the repair was performed. The vehicle had not been repaired for most recent failure. The manufacturer was notified of the acceleration failure. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000. Air bag light has been on almost continuously since october 2007 (vehicle purchased new in june 2006). Dealer in nevada checked vehicle october 2007 (mileage 20,788), found codes b1102 low battery voltage and b1378 drivers side resistance too high. Cleared codes, tightened connector under passenger seat (no cost); light was off for about a week then back on. Dealer advised I should just snug up the connector under passenger seat to resolve indicator light and I did this regularly for several years until light wouldn't go out anymore. March 2011 (mileage 62,751) dealer in washington checked car, found codes b1382 right side resistance and b1378 left front side resistance. In april 2008 I visited a Suzuki dealer in kaiserslautern, germany to ask about servicing my 2006 Suzuki reno prior to buying it. The seller was with me when I asked. The service manager assured me that they can work on my car. Around end of april I discovered the car was hard to shift from 4th to 5th gear (standard shift) and it makes a rumbling noise from the front right. There is a serious flaw with the Suzuki reno... Often times it does not start. I believe this requires a recall. Not only because no new car should have this problem, but it the dealer refuses to fix the problem. Calling it a "known case" that they have no solution for. That is not what I expect after paying thousands for a car.
