My 2006 Toyota sienna suddenly has a blinking airbag light 10 days ago

12/27/2013 85,000 mi ODI #10557479.0

The src airbag (curtain/side airbag) malfunction indicator went off. It has been below of recently. When I googled it, some people pointed it out to the yellow harness under the front seats. I wiggled it a little as some people suggested and the indicator light went away (I don't know if it may come back again). This is a major safety concern to me. Anyone could easily break the hardness when they pull the tray under seat. Or a car accident when your shoe could accidentally kick the hardness and break it, preventing the side airbag from deploying. It has to be a better way to protect the hardness. Especially here in minnesota with below of the hardness get too cold and may become brittle. *tr

Crack along outer edge of dashboard above instruments. Likely to extend to passenger side. May eventually cause airbag deployment to malfunction. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 Toyota sienna. While parked, the contact noticed the air bag light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they stated the warranty would not cover repairs or a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000.

I purchased a new 2006 Toyota sienna. In the first 33,000 miles I had three incidents where the airbag lights comes on. Each time I took to dealership to inspect, they claim to reset the airbags and it wasn't a problem. They said it was just a loose connection and something may have rolled under the drivers seat and may have hit a processing unit for the airbags causing the light to come on. With this explanation I thought it was a simple problem to fix and they never informed me that it would affect airbag deployment. So in each incident I delayed going to the dealership by thousands of miles, and only until my vehicle require other services would I request that they also check my airbag lights/system. Now at 86,000 miles and out of warranty my airbag lights have been on for 10,000 mile

The passenger sliding door opens only 30-40% and then gets stuck. This is due to what appears to be a door cable fault (motor still works). A big effort from an adult can open and close, but not possible from any of our six children riding in the back. The driver sliding door is blocked by a rear facing baby seat, so there is a serious safety concern. This issue started at the beginning of the day. There were no issues prior to this. *js

Passenger-side powered sliding door suddenly malfunctioned; no preceding odd noises or other trouble signs. The door will slide backwards to open position and latch there as it should, but upon button-push to close, it rolls forward about two-thirds of the way, then stops and retracts. Same problem no matter which of the several door switches is used. Worse: the door cannot be manually pushed beyond the malfunction point to shut it. I fear damage to mechanism and dealer service department backlash if I force it. Obviously not safe to drive in this condition. Luckily did not occur on a long family trip! Car must be garaged out of weather until problem resolved. Here is the issue I would like NHTSA to consider: a motorized door should have been provided with a bypass procedure which

Toyota announced a customer support program (csp) which will extend the warranty coverage rear sliding door latch assemblies - for certain 2004-2010my sienna vehicles the warranty coverage for the rear sliding door latch assemblies will be extended to 9 years from the date-of-first-use or 120,000 miles (whichever occurs first). Took the van to eddy's Toyota, wichita ks on tues. 6th nov. 2012 for correction of the problem as outlined in the letter. The service department want to charge $476 to fix the problem. Since it is only a sporadic problem it was declined. My wife & I do not understand the refusal of eddy's Toyota to honor the warranty. Our family has 4 Toyota vehicles so we are very disappointed in eddy's Toyota treatment. My wife & I were with 2 salesmen, [xxx] and like us, w

2006 Toyota sienna minivan. Both side sliding doors fail to close properly. Unable to manually close. Door will slide open. Repaired driver side sliding door in 2008. Now in july 2010, passenger side sliding door did not close but had been repaired but now again in december 2010 door continues to not close properly. *tr

The passenger side electric sliding door has failed. The door kept going open and shut one evening and then stayed shut and has been inoperable since. The door will not open manually now and has created a safety hazard. Toyota has refused to fix the problem and says that it can only replace the motor which will cost over $2000. The failure is that the door will not open at all. It is a safety hazard for the passengers. The door has a manual mode, and should therefore be able to operate manually without the motor. The dealership would do nothing to help besides charge over $2000 for what will surely be a temporary repair. *tr

Rack and pinion failure. Dear sir/madam: I brought my 2006 sienna (purchased new) to the dealership due to what I suspected was a bad wheel bearing on the front passenger side. The technician confirmed the bearing problem, but also informed me that the seal on the passenger side rack and pinion had gone bad and had leaded into the boot on that side, and since there was no way to just replace the seal, I needed a new rack and pinion system installed, plus a four-wheel alignment after the installation totaling $1187. I mentioned to the technician that I recently had noticed the power steering reservoir lower than usual and recently noticed fluid on my driveway, so that seems to be the cause of those observations. The original problem I brought my sienna in for of the bearing noise seemed t

Our 2006 Toyota Mini-van low tire pressure light keeps coming on, even though we have just had new tires put on, reset it several times and verified that the tire pressure is good in all 5 tires. We are not sure if we should trust it or not and feel this is a potential safety issue. It has 41k mi and the Toyota dealer was rude and said would only say bring it in for a $95 diagnostic. Checking the web there are a lot of folks with the same problem....lots of forums. *tr
