Tl* the contact owns a 2007 Dodge nitro. The contact stated that all of the doors failed to lock and unlock electronically. The contact had to lock and unlock the doors manually. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the fuse for the door locks was replaced. The failure recurred. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.
Door locks have randomly stopped working. The key fob and interior buttons will unlock all doors and trunk but randomly will not lock. When using the key fob, the horn beeps and headlights flash but the doors do not actually lock. At times the doors still do not lock even after driving at 15mph, when they normally would lock automatically. When I took the vehicle to the dealership they charged me $100 to run a diagnostic test, which showed some type of tripped sensor (I think related to the ABS braking system or transmission related) and an error related to the tipm. They reprogrammed the tipm and said if that did not fix the problem I would have to return to the dealership and pay $700 to replace the tipm. The problem with the locks seemed to be fixed, but only lasted about 30 days. Altho
December 12, 2007: I started my vehicle and I did not have any headlights, any turn signals, back windshield wiper was running and would not turn off, no heated seat, etc. Etc. I had to wait until daylight to go to the dealership. They have had my vehicle ever since. It has only 4,000 miles. They state it that they will have to replace the entire instrument cluster. It has been 17 days now and still no parts to fix my vehicle. From reading all the complaints on electrical in relation to this vehicle. It sounds like there is an on-going problem w/the lights and electrical system in this vehicle. It is a poor system when the dealership can't get parts for a new vehicle. *tr
No more than 200 ft from my driveway my 2007 Dodge nitro horn just went off by itself for 15-20 minutes unable to go in gear or turn off truck after removing the battery cables it still ran on its own with no battery cables connected or key in ignition. Not will not crank at all or turn on but all lights, radio, and windows work. Happened chrismas day and now without transportation for me and my wife as it gets colder everyday. I need some serious help fast, I have been searching online and many causes that seem to be prevalent are the skreem or sentry key remote entry module or wireless control module on my model of vehicle and year of 2007 can this be fixed.what a great way to spend christmas stranded in a paring lot, if you can assist with help I would be apprecieated more than you know
Original driver side master power window switch melted and stopped functioning. OEM Chrysler replacement purchased and installed at owner's expense. Two weeks later the replacement switch caught fire. Damage was only to the switch and wiring harness. No recall or service alert?
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 Dodge nitro 4x4. The contact stated that the windshield wipers seized. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the relay switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the relay module needed to be updated. The vehicle was not repaired; however, the windshield wipers malfunctioned and all four doors would lock automatically while the vehicle was accelerating. The contact was informed that the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 09v438000 (visibility), which stated that the relays and modules would be updated and repaired. The mechanic informed the contact that the module not only needed to be updated but replaced as w
I had a fuse blow in 2014 so I had my mechanic replace it. Ever since it has been replace my car no longer locks using my keyless entry. My windshield washer fluid never shuts off so I have to leave it unplugged. My hatch only locks when I manually lock it which involves removing the cover on the inside of the car. And now over the last few weeks when my car is parked it will unlock and the headlights come on for no reason. I have had nothing but problems with this car ever since it was purchased in 2012.

Uncontrolled accelleration of 2007 Dodge nitro, w/3.7 litre, has happened 5 times in six months of owning . Cant be fixed by dealer cause doesn't show code or able to duplicate when they have it , only way to stop it is to put in neutral and kill engine . Have had other problems like idle rough and surging , and like someone turning key off and on for split second while driving at highway speeds. There has not been any pattern to when sudden acel happens , it has been random and can seemingly happen w/out notice. The dealer keeps telling me to keep driving it till it does it again so they can try to get codes or something to trouble shoot it. But this is very dangerous as you would think. Im at a loss to what to do , I have contacted Dodge complaint line and they don't seem to worried abou
When filling the gas tank with an automatic cut off nozzle, there is severe splash back as the nozzle shuts off the gas supply. Gas sputs out of the filler pipe under pressure. This is a real fire hazard plus quite a mess if it gets on the driver/gas pump user. Repeated surges will likely take the paint off the left rear fender. If I estimate that the tank will take about 14 gallons, I stop the delivery at 11 gallons, remove the nozzle and shake the vehicle. Then I reinsert the nozzle and stop at each gallon until full. Even with this technique, there may be a mild splash back. This technique makes fueling the vehicle a real chore which is an aggravation! *kb
When filling the vehicle with gasoline, the auto shut off does not work. This is very dangerous, as it overfills and fuel spills out all over the vehicle and the surrounding area. I have learned that this has something to do with the vapor valve in the fuel tank, and is even a bigger problem if the vehicle was involved in a rollover, as the fuel would come spilling out of the tank. Took it to the dealership and they told me that I would be responsible for replacing the fuel tank. This should be a recall, as Dodge has had this happen before on other models. *tr
2007 Dodge nitro, fuel spills out of tank when filling up vehicle. Gasoline stations pump auto shutoff won't work with vehicle causing fuel to come splashing out when full. *tr

This problem has happened to me 3 different times. And the last time was back in november 2014. While I am driving my vehicle stalls, my brakes lock up and my steering wheel looses power with the rest of my car except my radio. This is extremely scary because I am putting my life and others in danger. And Chrysler says there is no problem because it doesn't show up on diagnostic. But when you pull up recalls and defects. The problem is right there. When this problem happens. I have to turn off my keys and restart the vehicle for it to work again. But you never know when this is going to happen there are no warning signs. *tr
About three weeks ago on 05 december 2011, I was driving my 2007 Dodge nitro 4x2 until I came to a stop at a red traffic light. I had my blinker on and was ready to make a right turn as soon as the light turned green. When the light turned green I lightly stepped on the accelerator when a loud explosion was heard and felt in the vehicle undercarriage. The vehicle's drive shaft had exploded upwards, hitting the undercarriage and then dropping to the floor. The vehicle lost complete power and stopped immediately after the driveline fell off. My daughter and niece felt the hit in greater magnitude as they were sitting in the back seat. My insurance covered the wrecker and transported the vehicle to the nearest Dodge dealership. The dealership diagnosed the problem as a faulty heatshiel
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 Dodge nitro 4x2. While driving between 60-65 MPH, the transmission pulls, stutters, vibrates, and shakes. The vehicle jerks when the contact depresses the accelerator pedal. The vehicle also has difficulty shifting into the correct gear. The vehicle has been taken to the dealer more than ten times for the transmission. The o-ring has been replaced, the computer has been adjusted, and finally the torque converter was replaced; however, the failures persist. Daimler Chrysler stated that nothing could be done. The cable cord inside the rear passenger side door snapped when the window was rolled down. The contact was informed that the window could not be replaced until after the holidays. While driving between 25-30 MPH, the luggage rack holder on the driver

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the bake light assembly had overheated causing the wiring to melt. The light assembly needed to be replaced. (1) the brake light on top of my tail gate is out. The cost of this light is $79.50. The cost of the other 2 side brake lights is $2.50 each. I will go to jail for having a light out before I pay $80. For this 3rd light. What do I do? (2) the front amber marker lights have gone out. These lights are only $2.50 each but it will cost me $95 to change one of them because the front of the car has to come off to change it. This should be illegal. What do I do? (3) the door mounted rear view mirrors are too big and mounted too high. The mirror along with the windshield post creates a huge blind spot when looking for traffic coming from the right or when turning to the left. At least once a month I almost pull out into a car in that blind spot. Very dangerous and poor engineering. What do I d
