Accelerated out of an intersection, from a stop at a stop sign, car lost power, steering...coasted across intersection to a stop. Called for a tow. While waiting, attempted to start car-it started. Drove home and had it towed to dealer, examined for several days, could not find a problem to fix. Same problem just occurred while car was in motion driving at approximately 30 miles per hour. Car suddenly lost steering/power. Got car to side of road. Again, it restarted on its own after a few minutes. Weather conditions cold and dry. *tr

A few times over the past several months, the steering light up on the column but we were able to turn the car off and back on again with the issue resolved. However, this time we were driving across the country and the light turned on and never turned off again. Power steering was completely gone. It was difficult to turn the wheel and drive the car at all. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 Honda fit. The contact stated that in cold weather when turning the vehicle on, the electrical power steering warning light would illuminate on the instrumental panel. Tl* - the contact stated that the vehicle accelerates by itself. When he turns the steering wheel either left or right the vehicle proceeds at approximately 2-5 MPH. The contact states all he has to do is turn the steering wheel slightly and the vehicle moves forward. He took the car into the dealer to have it looked at and they could not find any problems. He said they compared the vehicle to another Honda civic 07 and was told that is how these cars work. The contact is concerned that when he turns the wheel and steps on the gas pedal his speed doubles. The contact has a Honda civic ex, it is not listed as an option in the menu.

The electric power steering on my Honda fit failed to function. Fortunately, the event happened in my garage, but it was almost impossible to steer the wheels. So, I had to find other transportation to make my thanksgiving dinner. This could have been a disaster had the failure occurred on the road.

Power steering failed to engage when starting from a cold start and attempting to drive out of a parking lot. Indicator panel light came on. Turned car off, then started again and power steering engaged without incident. This same scenario occurred a few more times over the following months, however, much more frequent these last 2 months, nov./dec. 2013. Has not happened while traveling on the road thankfully. Car becomes very hard to steer. Informed Honda service center 12/17/13 of problem during routine oil change, they performed diagnostic ($75) and recommended replacing the electric power steering control unit (eps) for $958. Investigated online posts and found many others have been dealing with this issue as well. Since this is a known condition by Honda (service bulletin # 09-043)

On multiple occasions electric power steering assist would fail on start up, particularly after some overnight rain. Without the steering assist this car becomes difficult and dangerous to handle. Restarting the engine has corrected this intermittent problem so far, but it poses a considerable danger, especially if the steering assist were to cut out during high speed driving. *tr

During the rain the spare tire compartment got flooded; this caused rust formation on the jack, growth of the mold and extreme fogging of the windows. The leak is most probably caused by the rear door to body seal failure. *tr

12/22/2014 ODI #10667609.0

After a heavy rain, the floor mats in the back seats become soaked to the point where they develop mold even after the water is cleaned-up. Children sit in the back seat and are exposed to unhealthy conditions. The water seams to be coming from the front door/window area and is seeping into the interior of the door to the back floor area, mostly on the passenger side of the car. My research indicates that several other Honda fit owners also have that problem. I must take it in to have it repaired because I believe it is a health hazard. But it seems to be a flaw in the original structure that should be repaired by Honda. *tr

Turned on the car to see "d" blinking and service light appear. Attempted to drive the vehicle down my driveway and around neighborhood; there was significant shuttering when in motion (switching dears, reversing, and in drive). Had the vehicle towed to Honda dealership since it felt unsafe to drive. Damage (gnawed engine harness on 2 connectors) occurred seemingly overnight. According to dealership rodents chewing through soy-based wiring was the cause. Without the repair I felt that the car was unsafe to drive and a hazard.

I was driving home one night when my lowbeams went out. I pulled over and tried many things with no luck. My high beams still worked so I drove home using those. I checked the fuses and the bulbs, all were fine. When I took it to Honda they found the headlight switch was messed up. They are replacing the headlight switch. *tr
