Every time after refueling, my 2007 Jeep compass will stall and/or buck and almost stall soon afterwards. It's a very dangerous scenario that leaves me without power steering usually in the middle of traffic. The problem seems to be a common problem among jeeps/Chrysler products because there are many references to the issue online. For example: https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t29898_ds631498 for now, all I can do is not completely fill my tank for it not to happen. I'm not what the fix, if any, there is yet. It only occurs right after refueling. Then the vehicle is fine until the next time it's refueled.

12/20/2015 125,000 mi ODI #10811323.0

After the car is refueled, the engine will stall out while it is stationary. It then stalls out a second time after I drive a little while I am stopped at a light or stationary. I do nothing special while filling it up besides letting the pump stop it when it is full. This problem has occurred every time after I fill up since about 125,000 miles. Took the car to the mechanic and he said he could not find anything wrong.

I have a 2007 Jeep compass. The rear headrests are not removable and if I install my child forward facing car seat it leaves a gap in between the headrest and seat. This compromises children's safety. I called the dealership I bought it at and they refused to help or even acknowledge that there is a problem. I understand most jeeps have this problem as well. *tr

Fuel hose going in tank will not always take fuel , spilling some on the ground, very dangerous if I don,t go in the store so they can put floor dry on it, does not do it all the time , took the tank off once but did not find anything. *tr

12/13/2017 108,000 mi ODI #11054599.0

The vehicle has a purge valve or other issue that is very common that causes the car to shut off after filling up gas. This leads to vehicles shutting off in the middle of the road, losing control of steering and acceleration as well as other powered things, since the car shuts off.

12/13/2015 74,400 mi ODI #10809879.0

Every single time I fill up my gas tank to full and leave the gas station it stalls while driving. It doesn't matter what gas station or grade of gas, same result. Very dangerous because I drive on the highway.

CVT transmission started making noise and not shifting at 42000 miles. No accident occurred but since Jeep/Dodge service departments are not authorized to perform maintenance on CVT transmissions it had to be replaced. Due to issues with Jeep/Dodge a new transmission would have been on backorder for a minimum of 30 days. I was not able to wait that long so I found a low mileage transmission in a salvage yard and had the service department install it. Because I purchased my Jeep approx. 2 weeks before the lifetime powertrain warranty was initiated I had to bear the entire cost. *tr

2007 Jeep compass. Consumer states problem with automatic transaxle and transmission overheat *tgw the consumer stated two of the three jeeps she owns were having the same problems. During high speed driving, on hot days the automatic transxale oil became extremely hot, and the transmission overheat light would illuminate and the vehicle would slow down slightly until the automatic transaxle cooled down enough to allow a return to the requested speed. The transmission fluid was low due to a leak in the transmission pan. *jb updated 01/31/11

On nov. 21 I took my Jeep compass to the dealership for repairs. All of the lights on the dashboard were illuminated. The car would not accelerate even though the pedal was all the way down. The car was jerking and acting like it was going to stall. The vehicle was pretty much going crazy. I was advised by the dealership that the diagnostic that the did on the PCM showed that there were computer errors. The dealership said that they had to reset the codes and clear all of the errors and that the problem would be fixed. On 12/11 the same problem occurred again. I took my vehicle back to the dealership and advised them that the same issued occurred again. When I spoke with the dealership they state that they did not know what the problem was and that they had spoken to Chrysler and that chry

When attempting to fill the gas tank at any commercial gas station the pump nozzle shuts off immediately. It's almost impossible to fill the gas tank since only a few ounces of fuel is released before the nozzle shuts off. Sometimes just before the nozzle shuts, gas and bubbles are released out of the filler neck. This problem will cause the vehicle to be worthless for a trade -in or a personal sale. To repair the problem the gas tank and filler tube must be replaced. The cost is around $500. Plus labor. The flap valve can't be repaired since it's connected to the vehicle computer and will show a safety warning stating that the roll over safety feature is disabled. There are other model years of jeeps that had a recall and this 2007 model should have a safety recall. *tr

On september 20 2007, I was driving to work, I when I came to a stop, the engine stalled. The check oil and check engine light came on. Also, I did not have the a\c on. I restarted the engine with no problem. And while I made a full stop few times, I noticed that the RPM was dropping little by little. I called Jeep to schedule an appointment, I went on septemper 24,2007 to the dealer to have my car check. I explained everything. When I went to pick up my car, the dealer said that they could not find anything wrong. The only thing that they mentioned was that the computer of the car needed to be updated. After I took my car, I have noticed that the RPM of the car drops and the engine seems that it wants to start and then it goes back to normal. It is a very strange behavior because it was n
