Fuel overflows from tank when filling vehicle. *kb

12/30/2009 35,000 mi ODI #10297544.0

After the fuel pump at a gasoline station shuts off indicating my gas tank is full, gasoline spews back out of the tank through the opening where the gas pump nozzle is inserted once the nozzle is pulled out after fueling. The amount of fuel spilled is significant. I believe it could cause damage to my paint and plastic pieces on my vehicle and is also a fire and environmental hazard. This is not a result of continuing to pump fuel while removing the nozzle. The flow of fuel through the nozzle has stopped but pressure from inside the tank forces fuel out when the gas nozzle is removed. This has occurred on multiple occasions at multiple gas stations and did not occur earlier in the vehicle's history and does not occur when I am fueling other vehicles. *tr

Fuel spills out of my 2007 Jeep wrangler when I fill up. This happens every time I fill the Jeep up. This condition generally occurs when the fuel tank is filled to the full or nearly full level and the gas pump automatically shuts or clicks off. *tr

Starting from the first time I filled my gas tank on my 2007 Jeep wrangler 2 door xs package, every time I fill or come close to filling the gas tank and the pump automatically shuts off the fuel spills/ and or sprays out of the fuel filling tube. Many times it has sprayed me or whoever is pumping the gas. *tr

When filling the gas tank, the tank will overfill every time that the fuel hose handle is allowed to cut off automatically. Gas will then splash down the side of the Jeep and on to the ground. *tr

In the past month the vehicle has begun to "spit up" gasoline when filling up at the service station. Whenever I fill the tank to full and the fill nozzle automatically cuts off, a good amount of gasoline comes up through the filler neck spilling out onto the ground. Various Jeep owners have encountered the same issue and have posted it on the net those that have sought to have the problem remedied have usually had a new tank installed and/or some sort of emissions valve replaced. My vehicle is out of warranty and my dealer will not even look at it without me paying a 'diagnosis' fee. Furthermore I cannot afford to pay for a new gasoline tank on a vehicle that's only 3 years old and has 27,300 miles! I have resorted to only filling my tank 3/4 of the way. I feel this presents various safet

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 Jeep wrangler. On december 23, 2008, while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle went out of control and would only steer to the right. The vehicle then began to accelerate and the stabilizer system activated on its own. The vehicle switched into two wheel drive. The contact depressed the brakes and pulled the wheel in an attempt to stabilize the vehicle. The vehicle proceeded into the left lane and was pulled to the side of the road and shut off. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and they found no failures. The dealer turned off the electronic stability control. The current and failure mileages were 23,000.

I just bought this in aug 2014. I was driving home from work and hit a bump my steer wheel went from side to side for about 5 seconds and the second time it happen I brought it to a dealer they said nothing wrong it happen 4 more times sense then they are now calling it the death wobble. *tr

My 2007 Jeep unlimited sahara has the "death wobble." occurred several months ago. Mechanic couldn't figure it out, but prescribed tire inflation. Problem went away until one week ago. Can be easily replicated by going over a speed bump at about 25 MPH and turning the wheel to the left sharply. Alternatively, just traveling above 40-45 MPH on a highway, especially on a curve, will replicate. If any other Jeep driver has this problem, the only way to protect yourself is to brake slowly, get off the road and drive under 40 MPH...and much slower while turning even on side streets. If you must drive on a highway, stay in the slow lane so that you can exit to the shoulder with relative safety, and engage your hazard lights. Obviously, these are not practical solutions and ultimate culpability m

Takata recall . I was given a recall notice early in 2016 . The Jeep dealer in n miami said the parts were on back order and they will notify when they arrive. Nothing has happened in 1 year. I am most apprehensive to drive the vehicle on major roads . This is a life threatening problem and nothing is being done . Please advise

Takata recall: in july 2016 I received notice for driver and passenger air bag safety recall. At that time no replacement parts were available & I was told that availability was unknown at that time. In early december I was notified that parts were available but now for only one of the airbags and that was repaired. However, as to the 2nd airbag, again the parts are not available and there is no known date when the parts will be available. This is unacceptable. To be told that there is a defect and now waiting over 5 months for complete repair is not right and extremely disconcerting. Why may Jeep take so long to repair this dangerous problem?

Takata recall: I have received three notices from fca about the critical need to have my vehicle repaired, and yet for six months now, they do not have the part available. Can you please compel them to deliver the part to a dealer near me (in glendale california) so that I can resolve this matter quickly. My formal complaint to them is attached. I have repeatedly reached out to their dealers who claim that they are at the mercy of the factory to supply the parts needed. Your intervention would be appreciated since they do not respect or respond to me. I have had no incidents other than the repetitive warning letters from the factory, and their not being able to resolve the matter despite their telling me that the failure to address this matter immediately might result in serious injury

Fuel spills out of fuel tankl filling port after fuel dispensing equipment automatically stops. Fuel dispensing pump safety feathers incompatible with Jeep gas tank fuel filling design.this presents dangerous conditions and environmental concern with every fuel fill up regardless of gas station ran or equipment. It's almost as if fuel vilume greatly increases after gas dispenser stops fueling. More then a quarter gallon of fuel is spilled on my vehicle all over it every time I fill my vihicle, hot breaking system components and exhaust components coming in contact with liquid fuel,.forums and internet searches reflect that this problem exists on all vehicles with this fuel system design.situation captured in this video: https://youtu.be/zouvokeolo8

I was rear ended and pushed into another vehicle. I was driving a Jeep four door and my head hit the head rest which is very hard. I have had headaches ever since and the seat belt locked down so tight that my shoulder has hurt ever since, no broken bones, but something is not right. I know for a fact the headrests need to be evaluated on their safety! I have an appointment with the Jeep place for another recall and that is when I am going to discuss the hard headrests again. *tr

The six speed manual transmission continually jumps out of first gear while pulling away from a stop. This is dangerous because it could cause an accident to occur if the transmission was to jump out of gear during a take off and crossing lanes of traffic. I also am aware that this is a common problem, not only has Chrysler shipped a non-functional vehicle but have knowingly ignored a fix after 5 years. *kb

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 Jeep wrangler. While driving 70 MPH, the coolant lines for the transmission blew out and caused the transmission to stall without warning. It was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced due to faulty coolant lines. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 144,000.

While driving down the highway going approximately 60 MPH the vehicle hit something on the road (small bump) which resulted in a violent shaking from the front of the vehicle. I have sinced learned that this condition is commonly known as the death wobble. The condition was so violent I was forced to the side of the road. This has now happened twice in the last four weeks. The first instance I was driving straight, the second instance I was in a curve. The condition does not resolve itself although the magnitude of the vibration does decrease with speed. The vehicle is undrivable with this condition at highway speeds of 55-70 MPH. The condition is induced by normal undulations and variations in the road (I.e.: not only a huge pothole). After stopping on the shoulder and inspecting t

As driving on highway engine started to make clicking noise, called local Jeep dealership and brought into shop no engine lights or oil lights on, service person told me that oil was 5 quarts low in a 6 quart engine and the engine bearings were stripped need new engine and life time powertrain warranty will not cover engine. When I ask service person why this happen he could not and would not give straight answer simple said " aftermarket oil filter, and I found no leaks" then asked if it was the oil filter he said " no I'm not telling you it was the oil filter!" then I said "if it is not the oil filter nor you found no leaks where did the other 5 quarts of oil disappear to. It must be a defected engine. I just change the oil 2000 miles ago!" in all service department will not tell me why
