While driving on city streets at approx. 25 miles an hour the steering wheel disengaged from the steering mechanism. This was very frightening for my daughter. The vehicle was pushed into a parking lot. We spoke with the manufacture and we were told to that the vehicle did not have any recalls that were outstanding. We had the vehicle towed to the the nearest dealership to be evaluated. We were told that the steering coupling was broken and needed to be replaced. This we had done. We were very fortunate that this did not occur while driving on the freeway. The complete disconnection of the steering from the rest of the vehicle is something gravely serious. This something that the NHTSA should look into. *js

The power steering goes out randomly on my 2007 Saturn ion almost causing 2 severe accidents. Once the car is restarted power steering is fine and who knows when it just goes out causing steering to be quite difficult especially depending on who is driving the car and when it goes out!!! Completely unsafe. Is this covered anywhere to get fixed? *tr

This car is experiencing the same issue that gm has issued a recall for. The electronic power steering motor is failing and the pwr strng warning light comes on. The steering is very difficult (two hands absolutely necessary) for a strong driver during slow sharp turns. A potential collision is highly likely. Other complaints are on the web with many people avoiding driving the vehicle at all due to the inability to predict occurrences and the immediate effect the loss of power has. How can two models with the same equipment be recalled (cobalt and g5) and not the Saturn ion?
Power steering goes out on 2007 Saturn ion. *tr
Power seering indicator came on in the display (not the low fluid warning light) and power steering was no longer available. After turning off and restarting the vehicle, the power steering functionality returns for a variable length of time. This has happened multiple times now with the time between incidents ranging from 5 minutes to several hours. This has happened with speeds ranging from 25 to 75 MPH.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 Saturn ion. The contact stated that when starting the vehicle, the power steering warning light illuminated and the power steering failed. The vehicle only had manual steering. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also mentioned that the air bag warning light intermittently illuminated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 176,000.
My power steering light came on and I noticed that I had lost the power steering ability. With difficulty, I steered the car to the side of the road and turned the car off and then back on and the power steering was working again. This has happened multiple times and with the research I have done, I feel it needs to be recalled for my specific Saturn. I bought the car used 1.5 years ago and did not know of any problems until now. I have over 100xxx miles on it but that should not exclude me from any recalls that may be issued in the future. I drive my car over 200 miles a day and no longer feel safe in it. This is my 3rd Saturn and I have always loved them but I am very disappointed that this has not been recalled on my car when it is a very specific problem that is happening and being rec

2007 Saturn ion consumer is seeking reimbursement for repairs. *cn
Fuel leaking from top of fuel tank, coming from broken port on the fuel pump. This is the same issue as documented in gm recall 09226c, but because this vehicle isn't in any of the states listed I have to pay for it out of pocket. How can a recall only cover vehicles in certain states.

The car failing to start on the first ignition cycle and a smell of fuel while driving and after the car as turned off was noticed. A week later fuel is now considerably leaking from near the rear of the car. A recall has been issued for a fuel pump problem on the 2007 ion, but only in certain states, illinois not included. Obviously, this is a major safety issue and yet another defective part/system from Saturn/gm. As gm dealerships are booked repairing the faulty ignition switches, I have to wait over a week for the repair to get looked at. The choice is now risking fire/explosion on the car as the leak is very near the hot exhaust pipe or not going to work for a week. *js
Tl*the contact owns 2007 Saturn ion. The contact stated that the key was stuck in the ignition and she was unable to turn the vehicle off. She also disconnected the battery and the vehicle would not shut off. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 71,000.
I parked the car in front of my house, leaving the headlights on. When I went to put it in the garage, I turned the key in the ignition switch, and heard no sound. I realized I had left the headlights on and the battery was dead. Then the key would not turn in the lock so I could remove it. I could not open the trunk with the button on the dash, in order to replace the battery. The car is now useless to me. I will get a battery charger to charge the battery from the engine compartment, but some reports online report that the ignition switch must also be repaired. This ignition switch area was just repaired in a recall. *tr

powertrain 1 complaint shown
As I was driving along a city street last autumn, the transmission started shifting with a noticeable jerk each time it went into another gear. This is an automatic transmission. When I came to a stop light I put the car into park. When I put the car back into gear, there was an even stronger jerk. The jerking kept on each time the car shifted. At the next light I turned the car off during the red light and then turned it on when the light turned green. The problem continued, so I went straight to an auto repair shop. They were busy so I had to wait awhile, and then it took me awhile to explain the problem. When the technician went out to see what the problem was, the problem was gone. Isn't that soooo typical. This last summer, the same thing happened. This time I went home and let the
