Tokata recall in august 2015 Toyota informed me that my corolla was part of the recall program to replace the airbags which were subject to spewing shrapnel when discharged. I went to the local dealer to get the replacement completed, showing them the notice I received. The dealer, smart Toyota (563.388.6880) informed me that the replacement parts were not available yet, and that I should receive another letter when the the parts were on hand and could be installed. I checked with them again on 9 october to learn whether the parts were available. I received the same answer as I did in august at my initial visit: the parts are not available yet and that I would receive a letter informing me when they were. Today is 24 december, and I still haven't received that letter. In the

Toyota has failed to remedy the defect within a reasonable time. I received my letter/notice about the recall back in june/july and I still haven't heard anything about when I can actually take my car in to be serviced. This is a concern for me as this is my only car and what I used daily to take me to work & everywhere else in between. I do not want to risk my life or my passengers lives because Toyota has failed to replace this part.

Three years after buying new car engine light came on, got it checked at dealer was told it's p0741. I was told by service advisor that there was "no recall and if it ain't broke don't fix it." I asked what it was, was told it's converter, but not to worry if no problems. I've tried calling Toyota for several years now, to no avail. I still own my corolla and the engine light is still on. .... Glad I found this website.

The power died when I was on a very busy thoroughfare at rush hour. I had to cross several lanes of traffic and was barely able to crawl to the shoulder. I was towed to a repair shop and was told the engine computer module was defective. I understand Toyota is aware of this problem, but has yet to give recall details to their customers or to their dealerships. What are they waiting for? I could have easily been in an accident or caused one. If Toyota won't move on their own, please force them to act. Lives are at risk!

2007 Toyota corolla stalled a traffic light in downtown rush-hour traffic. Would start back up, but only idle for 30 sec. And die again. Had to have towed to dealer, who diagnosed the problem as the engine control module (ECM). This appears to be a way to common problem as discussed on the Toyota forums. Seems to occur with mid-30k mileage. Mine had 34,800 miles. *tr

December 17, 2009 the ECM unit failed in our 2007 Toyota corolla. Engine cut off. This is a known problem. There was an angel on my daughter's shoulder as she was on a low traffic city street when this happened and she was able to pull over safely. If this had happened on the freeway it could've been deadly. *tr

2007 Toyota corolla suddenly stalled. After researching the problem it appears to be a bad ECM which appears to be a common problem for Toyota corollas between the years 05 2005-2007. This is potentially a dangerous situation since the car just dies. Many forums have stated that they were fortunate that they were not rear ended. Since this is a known problem, Toyota should recall this item and avoid potential harm to the consumer. *tr

Problem: squeezing / grinding noise in brakes which sometimes happens as one drives slowly and brakes. The problem started after I had the car for 2 and 3 quarters years. Toyota technician looked at the problem 2 times and mentioned that everything is normal. After that a Toyota customer service representative called me and mentioned that the brakes are fine and that a certain repair at my cost could be done. When I asked the Toyota customer service representative to explain in writing what the exact problem is and how to solve it and she agreed to do so. Previous communication had also be in writing. But Toyota has not done so as to date. Please note that the exact model is Toyota runx, based on Toyota corolla 4 doors. *tr

I just had the floor mat acceleration happen to me in my 2007 corolla. I was slowing down for a red light, so my foot was on the brake... The car suddenly accelerated so I threw the shift into neutral and I was able to pull the mat out from under the accelerator and my car continued to slide like it was on ice and then came to a stop. *tr
