On several occasions, the vehicle electrical system has malfunctioned. Lights go on and off, winshield wipers come on, horn honks constantly, engine stalls, etc. The only way to get it to stop is un-hooking the battery and letting it set for a few minutes. This happened several times so we took it to the dealer to get it looked at. They told us it was a sensor in the steering column that needed to be replaced. The car was out of warranty so it cost just over $800. Since the repair, the car has shown the same problems. Most recently a few days ago. *js

Vehicle began having problems starting and I was told by leith Dodge that it was a faulty fuel pump which was replaced. Then the same issue has come up again. After reading about the problem I have discovered it is something known to Dodge at the time of my purchase which they lied to me when I asked them about said issue. I have been told this time it is a faulty tipm. In researching I found out that Dodge has known this for years. *tr

It was may of 2013, not sure of exact date. It was evening and raining out. I went to get in my car and when I started the ignition and put my headlights on, they went off. After about 15 seconds they came back on, but started to flicker. After I shut the car off and turned back on the headlights remained on. Over the past year this has happened more and more. Each time is when there is moisture: rain, snow or frost. This year the occurrences are getting more frequent. I have had head lights replaced. The switch. A battery. I was finally told it is the tipm. The part will be between $600-700 (just for the part), its on national backorder, it could be months until they even get it in. Now this means my only vehicle I can't drive. I leave for work at 5:00 a.m, which is dark and return in t

For the past year I have been dealing with my horn randomly honking at all times of day and night, doors locking and unlocking on their own, headlights and taillights turning on by themselves as the nitro is parked with the engine off. On top of all this, since october 2014 my engine as been stalling when I tried to start it. I tried to start it numerous of times and it would turn on for about 3-5 seconds then shut off and recently it has gotten to the point that it doesn't want to start anymore. A diagnostic test was done and nothing could be found. Due to all these issues, which have drained the battery life, I have replaced the battery twice within the past year. *tr

When I tried to start the Dodge nitro the doors locked , horn blows, wipers and fluid run. And now the car wont start at all. Unhooked the battery terminal and hooked it back up, doors all lock with keys inside. There was a recall on 2007 nitros for the same reasons. Why wont they fix the 2008 models as well. There really needs to be a recall on this

At any given time all of the electronics on my 2008 Dodge nitro will go crazy without cause. While your driving or parked, engine on or off, key in or out of the ignition the headlights, wipers, horn, windshield washer fluid, blinkers, door locks, radio interior lights will just start going on or off. This issue has been going on for about 1 year now. I've taken it to the dealership and they advised me that it was the tipm or total integrated power module. They stated that the tipm is on back order and they can not tell me when more will be available for purchase. I contact Dodge/Chrysler in detroit and they too could not give me any information on getting this repaired. I searched the internet and found that there are a lot of nitro owners who are having the same problem and have bee

Gas overflows when filling tank on my 2008 Dodge nitro. I have heard this is most likely caused by a valve in the gas tank that is there to prevent an explosion in the event of a rollover. The valve is defective and thus, the gas spills out. *tr

Every time I fill up my 2008 Dodge nitro with gas, it sprays/overflows fuel. I have owned this vehicle for 8 months now, and this has been happening every time I fill up since the beginning. This happens at every gas station and has happened in multiple states. This is a hazard to me, to the people around me, and to the environment. This is a severe fire risk, not to mention the vapors I, and the people around me, inhale each time I need gas. The continued gas spillage has faded the plastic fender flare. This happens if it is filling automatically or if I am holding the handle. The handle clicks off, and after about 1-2 seconds, there is a rush of gas back up toward me. I have been covered on multiple occasions, and there is approximately 2-3 cups of gas spilled onto my vehicle and

The gas tank overflows when filling. The auto shutoff on the gas tank is faulty, this is a problem with the same year Jeep libertys with the same tank. The 20" chrome wheels flake and corrode even when kept clean and out of the elements. This must be fixed! *tr

12/19/2011 70,000 mi ODI #10440359.0

When I fill up my tank at any gas station, I will put the gas nozzle in the gas filler neck, and have it fill up. When the gas tank reaches it's maximum level, the gas nozzle will automatically 'click' off, however, the gas will overflow out the gas filler neck and spray out all over the ground and down the car, I'm thinking that something so flammable as gasoline spraying out and dripping on the ground and down the car is a huge fire risk....am I wrong? *tr
