Eps light came on and disabled power steering. Restarted the car and the issue stopped. Took to Hyundai dealer and they said it is not covered under recall 127 or warranty.

I was driving for about 15 minutes at a speed of under 30 MPH in heavy traffic when my power steering suddenly locked and could not be engaged. The eps light on my dash went on and I was able to get the car home as I was only about 1 mile from home. The Hyundai dealer I called to pick up the car said it was my fault because I missed a recall. I have checked over the elantra 2008 recalls and none of them say anything about steering. Can you tell me if the car will ever be safe to drive again after the dealer repairs it and does it really have anything to do with one of the Hyundai recalls. *tr

In october 2012 I was driving on Lincoln drive in phila. I was going around the first corner (to the right). Once the turn was complete, I attempted to turn the car in the other direction but the car kept going right. My car ended up spinning 270 degrees before it came to a stop. I turned the car off while I gathered myself and turned the car back on again. A cop checked on me to see if I was ok, then I went about my business. Thankfully there was no damage to my car or others. Fast forward to 11/30/16. I was taking the backroads to work like I normally do. I made a right turn onto a road then attempted to straighten the car out. The car kept going right, so I had to yank the steering wheel to get it straight gain. A few miles down the same road I was going around a bend to the r

2008 Elantra should be added to the crankshaft Theta II recall. 2098 Elantra has the 2.0L engine unlike its prior years where they are made with a 1.6L engine. Last week my 2008 Elantra exhibited all the signs of this malfunction (A knocking noise from the engine that increases in frequency as the engine rpm increases. Reduced power and/or hesitation and vibration. Illumination of the “check engine” light in the instrument cluster. Illumination of the “engine oil pressure” warning lamp.) When this occured i had taken it to Auto Zone and had the computer scanned for error codes. (See attached report). Based on the report a tune up was done, ignition coil replaced and sensor replaced. Car would still not start. When my mechanic furthe diagnosed it (he could not find the issue until he use
The vehicle will roll away when placed in park (while stationary) if attempting to park on any slight incline or decline. A ratcheting sound is heard coming from the transmission when this occurs as the vehicle is rolling out of control. Sometimes it starts to roll after you have exited the vehicle. The vehicle experienced the same concern several years ago and the transmission was replaced with a good used transmission. Now the used transmission is experiencing the same issue with not staying in park. A pedestrian was nearly struck last week by the vehicle rolling away but I was able to get back in it and stop it with the service brake. I have read online that this is a common occurrence with the Hyundai elantra automatic transmissions.
While city driving between 30 and 40 miles per hour engine rpms drop to around 1000 rpms or less causing the vehicle to become sluggish and to vibrate. The only way to eliminate this problem is to force the vehicle to shift into a lower gear by mashing down on the accelerator. Under certain circumstances this kind of action could force an unnecessary rear end collision with front air bag deployment as well as personal injury. This problem has been brought to the dealers attention and they concur that it does exist. I've been told that I am not the only one that has reported this problem. They believe it may have something to do with a glitch in the torque converter software. Hyundai is aware of the problem (ref # 3406332) but offers no solution. I was basically told sorry they have n
I was driving my 2008 Hyundai elantra on the highway and began driving on the exit ramp when the brake was applied the car accelerated to a speed of 85mph. I had both feet on the brake and the car would not stop. I put the car in neutral and it slowed to 20mph. At that point I put the car in park and turned it off. The car was smoking and I could smell something burning. Car was taken to Hyundai dealership where they told me the throttle cable had debris on it and malfunctioned causing the throttle to accelerate to high speed. The car had accelerated twice before but not to such high speeds and would react to the brakes being applied. *tr

While driving east toward home, a large SUV or pickup truck came around the curve with bright lights on, thus blinding me. I did not see a car turning left until too late to stop. Resulting in rear ending the other car. The air bags on my Hyundai failed to deploy. Also I do not think the right seat belt did not catch allowing my wife, the passenger to travel to its end and hitting her head on the dash or windshield, also injuring her right shoulder. I did not receive any recalls on seat belts or air bags. *tr
My 2008 Hyundai elantra has the airbags light on for about few years. I also have a problem on my car that is recently starting to have problems starting up. It has tune up, new sensors, new coils, and etc. I bought a fuel pump OEM and the pump is not 2 years old.
Takata recall. Driver lost control of the car and over corrected and hit a tree which pushed her into another tree. The front end of the car was wrecked and the air bags did not deploy. We were never contacted about the recall on the car so we had no knowledge that the air bags were defective.
Vehicle was traveling north on fm 429 and hit a patch of loose gravel. The car began to skid and landed front first into an embankment. The vehicle then began to roll multiple times until it rested on its side. No air bags deployed during the entire accident. The only air bag that deployed was when she stepped on the door trying to exit the vehicle. The vehicle was rested on it's side and she had a hard time getting out of the vehicle. *tr

I would like the us DOT NHTSA to investigate the anti-lock braking system (ABS) on my 2008 Hyundai elantra. It is my understanding that the purpose of an ABS is to prevent loss of traction and steering control during an emergency braking situation. During a recent round of winter snow, I found that the system did not shorten my stopping distance and did not prevent the front wheels from losing the ability to control the direction of the car on snow. While attempting to exit interstate highway 465 at a speed of approximately 25 MPH, I was unable to decelerate sufficiently in the length of the deceleration lane to make the curve of the cloverleaf and lost the ability to steer the vehicle while the ABS was activated. I did some experimenting and found that I could stop in a shorter distan

While driving my vehicle I was told my another motorist that my brake lights were not working. I checked the fuse and the bulbs. I looked up on line and seen that there was a recall on Hyundai vehicles due to the stop lamp switch problem. I called Hyundai and they said my VIN number was not part of their recall campaign. *tr

seatbelts 1 complaint shown
Start october 2015, when I pull the seat belt it generate rattling noise but no problem to buckle up. I did not aware that was a safety issue. When my daughter borrowed and drove on the road last week (11/24/2015), she heard the noise and tested it by pulling out quickly, the seat belt did not hold her back. That meant I was driving on the road without working seat belt for two months. Please look into this, see if anyway can warn the driver the dangerous situation. Myself just was not smart enough to see this potential safety issue.
