2010 Chevrolet Equinox owner complaints

Changed windshied motors and the go right back to not working within a week.. Here recently ive had to put a extreme amout of oil in it its losing oil out of no where can drive 5 miles down the road and then its gone now it has started to smoke really bad when I drive it after oil is in and has now got the car to start a small knkck it has been parked for the time being for scared of it doing worse its been parked since it started to smoke.. It will lose power at sum points and not let me drive faster then 25 MPH then all the sudden pick back up and act just fine..the car will smoke so bad that another car behind me will have to stop completely and wait until smoke is clear.. All lights on the dash is also on

2010 Chevrolet equinox. Consumer writes in regards to timing chain recall did not fix the problem. *smd the consumer stated the timing chain was installed on april 24, 2013. Five months later, the vehicle was running rough, stalling and shaking and rattling while it was in idle. He received a recall notice for the timing chain. The service department informed him, the recall was serviced during the april 24, 2013 visit. On november 22,2013 another timing chain was installed. The consumer has experienced several problems with the vehicle, since april 2011. The dealer replaced a worn compressor, the balance shaft chains, oxygen sensor, high pressure fuel pump, intake actuator, intake solenoid and the transfer case.*jb

The vehicle was towed to a dealer for inspection where the fuel pump and cam shaft were replaced however, the failure later recurred. The vehicle was not further repaired. Horrible oil consumption issue. Piston rings are bad and the car doesn’t have that many miles. A huge issue with the equinox.

Bought vehicle used with about 30k miles on it, at first oil change was told oil was low, this continued over the next several changes, a few times it was found to be completely out of oil, no oil leak was found, at 39k miles balance shaft chain had to be replaced, at 55k miles my check engine light came on and my car almost cut off on me while I had my infant son with me, the cam shaft had to be replaced, 56k they replaced pistons, rings, fuel pump, and timing chain due to using excess oil, a few months later my air compressor had to be replaced and now my transmission is leaking. The car has a little over 70k miles on it. Also have been complaining of a rattling noise coming from the engine since I bought the car, I was told several times by the dealership that this was normal however I

I started hearing a knocking noise at 28000 miles. Had serviced but after several miles noise started again. Noise continues so service is needed(10-2-13). I had several gaskets, seal, bolts,fuel pump(which was leaking raw fuel into inside of engine), balance chain, timing chain, guide for timing chain(which guide and debris fell in oil pan), and two tensioner replaced as well as oil life monitor recall update. In motion vehicle would not get out of second gear forward and reverse, technician states wave plate broken this was replaced under warrant in 2014

We were just getting to the end of highway entry ramp and we could not gain speed and the engine revved up very high beofre it started slowing down. Put the car in manual mode but could not shift into 3rd gear. We were forced into entering the highway at roughly 30mph.

February 2018 both of my wipers stopped working in the middle of a storm and I almost lost control of my vehicle with my kids in the car. I took my car to pep boys and they ordered the parts to replace in order for my wipers to work again. Here I am in december 2019 almost two years later with the same problem. The wipers in this vehicle are defective and someone is seriously going to get injured or killed if they do not recall the wipers for faulty motors that will quit working at any time. I am scared to drive this vehicle if it will possibly rain because I do not want to put my kids or my life in danger. Something needs to be done and gm needs to take responsibility for this huge issue!

While operating vehicle, (anywhere between idling to travelling 40 MPH) the "service stabilitrak" message will appear on console between tachometer and speedometer. Driving the vehicle any further will cause the instrument panel glitch, and all readings will go to zero (tach, speed, temp) while engine is still running. Further operation will create sudden jerks in the transmission until the transmission goes to third gear and remains until engine is cut off. After cutting off engine and trying to restart, the instrument panel will go directly to "service stabilitrak" message and the engine won't turn over. I have had many problems with this vehicle regarding electrical, audio, airbag lights coming on and now engine oil. The engine oil was just detected at 80,000 miles however I have complained that my car does not run right since the beginning. They claim that the engine is burning off the oil however I am very good at getting my oil changes around 3000 miles and where is the oil going? Its not in my garage or on the engine? I have had my car completely go blank on the dash no indicator lights etc. I have filled a complaint with Chevy to no avail. I am very disappointed that now my engine needs to be replaced or maybe just he pistons? At 80,000 miles? This has been going on since I owned it from sept 2009! 2010 Chevrolet equinox all of a sudden lost traction control and drop speed to 15 miles per hour. Error light came on stating "engine power reduction" and then "service ". Along with these error messages the icon for engine and stabilitrak came on after car lost most of its pwlower and traction. It was a cold night christmas 2016 but not as cold as other cities as we live in phoenix, az. Thankfully I was in our neighborhood when my [xxx] daughter and I lost power instead of being on the freeway but this is a major safety issue with these cars.
